(Original Air Date: 02/02/06) Charles says he has exhausted his relationship with his wife of 19 years, and he's ready to try an alternative lifestyle. Instead of getting a divorce, Charles wants to explore polyfidelity -- a relationship where he is shared between his wife and his mistress. The mistress says she'll give it a try, but his wife, Tracy, says the thought makes her sick. Can Charles convince his wife to share him for the sake of their marriage? And what does Dr. Phil think? Share your thoughts, join the discussion.

DUMP HIM

Quote From: westie305

That's cute - the toothache analogy.  Say a prayer that she sees him as her toothache!

Dr. Phil, Thanks so much for telling Charles exactly what moral character he is showing, He wants to move out to see if he will miss his kids? For love's sake this man is a jerk and I hope his wife realizes that she has value- deserves better- will find better and DUMPS HIM NOW. Quit letting him call the shots and do not walk but run to the nearest, best attorney and teach him that he cannot walk away from his responsibilities without consequences.  He is so in love with himseld and I doubt he can love anyone else. Take the house, the kids, any assets and 3/4 of his salary. You deserve it. Tell the Other Woman not to give you a load of crap about not breaking up a marriage. SHE MAD A CHOICE!! I have been there and you will hopefully see that she did you the best favor anyone could have done you and that you would not take him back on a gold platter.....LOVE YOURSELF and your kids and kick his ass to the curb. Forgive any typos- I am so mad- my husband came in after hearing me yelling at the TV and said he knew what he would be facing if he ever got close to being Charles.

Aloha,

Carol

Twisted Love

I was watching the Dr Phil Show today about Charles wants to explore polyfidelity after a 19 year marriage.  Well I am talking from a man's point of view.  Alot of women today does cause their men to cheat on them.  After years of marriage some women does feel comfortable in the marriage and forget about their husbands needs in the bedroom.   90% of the time when their husbands want to make love to them it's either they had a hard day at work, or they too tired to satisfy their husband's needs.  When a man and a woman make that commitment to each other the woman and the man should give themselves to each other wholeheartedly.

My mother-in-law made a very point to me.  She said for a man and a woman to have a happy marriage they have to enjoy themselves in the bedroom.  I cannot say I blame Charles one bit but on the other hand I don't know what's going on in their bedroom.  Once the bedroom get boring and lost the spark 90% of the men out there will look for something on the side.  Let's not fool ourselves lots of men do have women on the side especially with the way the internet is today.   Most times their wives never find out.

A man having another woman on the side sometimes is a wakeup call for his wife.   Some women when they find out about their husband's other woman they usually change their ways and be more supportive in the bedroom.  Some men are born womanizers but as I said alot of the married women cause that on themselves by not giving their husband enough  attention in the bedroom.

Well I expect to get some harsh remarks about my message but that's the way I feel in a man's point of view.

Suggestion

Quote From: djsiemer

I found out last month from my best friend that my husband asked her "If (me) and I were divorced, would you go out with a guy like me?" I asked my husband about it and he said "Oh". After a couple days, I threw him out of the house. We have been married for 12 years, and all he can say was "I was drunk at the time". I am contemplating divorce, because we cannot communicate anymore and he won't take full responsibility to what he said.

Would anyone accept that as a legitimate excuse (him being drunk) and take him back? I know that counseling will not work, because he thinks there is nothing wrong with our marriage - there is something wrong with my emotional state (a month before, my mother passed away). He has said that after a couple months that I will apologize for everything I have done and take him back.

What do you think?....

Did he actually or would he actually do anything? Sometimes talk is just talk. Express to him how it made you fell see what he says and take it from there, if he doesn't say anything and blows you off, then you have your answer. But try counseling, he probably doesn't really want anyone but you but if your not communicating he is more than likely hungry for that communication and support give it him and see what happens. Try writing him a letter about how much you love him and appreciate him, and admire him and just see where it takes you. You don't need him to approve for you to go to a counselor yes it should be the two of you but hey why not work on you first. Going to counseling doesn't mean there is something wrong t just means you want to make something better. I tell my husband every day that I love him and appreciate his hard work and for allowing me to stay at home with our children. It makes a world of difference when men fell appreciated. Write him a little steamy love letter and leave it in the car surprise him even if you think he is wrong, it doesn't matter. Just try trust me!! Good luck!

A little self respect

Quote From: pjnobbers

I have been having an affair for over a year now.  He told me he would never leave his wife...which was fine by me...because I don't want to remarry or have a relationship in that way!  She is 5 foot and 250 pounds which has put a damper on their sexual relationship...there has been none for almost 10 years.  I am the sex part and I am a friend that he can trust.  More than anytrhing, I would love to have a conversation with his wife....to find out exactly what is going on!  I know he has lied to me and to her on several occassions!

Wow girl I think you ought to find some self respect!  I don't care if she is 250 pounds - what if she was in a wheel chair or anything else.  He should be loving her and helping her with her weight issues, not off messing around with you!  Did you ever think that her issues are directly linked to the fact that he is having an affair with you, or how he might treat her?

I am sure that it is possible to find a man for yourself that is not attached and free to have any kind of relationship that you are looking for and you do not need to be doing this with a married man.

WOMEN WE SHOULD BE SUPPORTIVE AND HAVE SOME LEVEL OF FIDELITY TO EACH OTHER.  WE HAVE A HARD ENOUGH ROAD TO TRAVEL WITHOUT TRIPPING EACH OTHER ALONG THE WAY!

twisted

Tracy,
I just want to ask you, "What are you getting out of this relationship?" I don't see honor, loyalty, respect, honesty, faithfulness, emotional security or trust in this relationship.  A relationship should have give and take not take, take and take some more. It looks to me that he is wearing you down. I pray that there's an update show that shows you shinning with feelings of respect and  honor for yourself.  And that you get your +self worth from you feeling good about yourself. One last question, "If you had enough money to live on would you stay with him?"

poly-problems

After being in a relationship w/ a married man for over 10 years, all that happenned was things got worse for everyone. And not just the 3 main players but their children, all of our parents, and siblings...friends...it was un-ending. Tell all of them, get out now unless you want to save that marriage and that means HARD WORK!

yes

Quote From: woman1234

How many of you would want to know if yor husband was having an affair.  And why or why not?

I forced it out of my husband - he was too chicken to tell me and I figured it out.

I have warned friends of mine to not ever let me catch them up to something when I thought that they might be or saw something that I didn't like.  Many will say - none of your business.  I disagree with this.  We have too many things that go on in our society because staying quiet is a form of acceptance or approval.  We need to go back to the good ole days in some areas of life and be willing to tell other people's children to behave when their parents aren't around and we need to look people in the face and say this is unacceptable behavior.

02/02 Twisted Love

I so wanted to see Dr. Phil ask mr. poly-fidelity why he did not explore the 'two men, one woman' option!! Bet that one would not have been so OK with the jerk!

02/02 Twisted Love

Quote From: dmfrkls

Afte rwatching the Dr Phil show I was furious at the arrogant jerk that sat there with his body twisted, lost for words & thinking he is the stud of studs! I could feel his wifes pain when he sat there and told (the world) that he loves his mistress, & how attractive she is & how he does not regret the affair. First of all his wife shld kick is **@#!! to the curb. I wonder how he would feel if the situation was reversed??  Maybe he needs a little taste of the vinegar that he has been having her drink. She looked totally drained from the situation. It is bad enough when the affair is happening but when they can sit & look you straight in the face & tell you the facts, they are on a ego trip!! Yes maybe he was honest with her, but did he realize the pain he has caused the family? He also wondered how he would feel if he went & got his own place without his family....give me a break, he wants both worlds. He is on generic crack, as far as I am concerned. Wouldn't it be convienent for all marriages to be open as this one? What is the point of getting married, oh yeah...for better or for worse! She needs to buck him off his high horse & show him who's man & who's woman. From what I could see she seemed to be in a shell of her own, a woman of very few words. He wears the pants & takes them off.  As far as his mistress is concerned, she wants what his wife has, & I don't think it's him, maybe just a materialist mama!  Lets see how she is going to except the four children, the stress of a divorce, his mental confusion. Missy Mistress I think you better get some of your own dignity & bow out before  he finds someone MORE attractive than you, but then again women like you don't know what pain is.

This sounds all to familiar!  It's sad to see men that are so self centered that they could make decisions based solely on their own needs and desires, and never consider the pain these selfish decisions can inflict on their families.  Happiness is not something you can buy, unfortunately people's idea of happiness becomes distorted in our materialistic world.  This man is so consumed with his OWN needs and desires, and validates them because he has been a good provider as a husband and successful in the business world.   I would take this oppportunity  (as scary as it may seem) and find an attorney., she needs to rebuild her life, and he does not deserve to be included.   Life is too short to waste on someone who is so consumed with his own desires that no one else matters.   She deserves more than that.  Furthermore when he was asked the tough questions about his future plans with this mistress, he stumbled over his own thoughts, how much clearer does it need to be.  She needs to let him go, and allow herself to live a happy life with her children.

Way to go Dr. Phil!

I was fuming during the show today!  That guy was the most arrogant man I that I have ever seen.  I kept telling my husband that Dr. Phil was going to move in for the kill and he didn't disappoint.  That women needs to get rid of him.  The sad part is that this conceited, arrogant man is also going to lose his children's respect.  I know it will be hard for her but if she runs replays of the show several times that ought to open her eyes!!!!!!
