(Original Air Date: 02/03/06) We've all heard the old saying, "Winning isn't everything," but for some people, it's the only thing! Dr. Phil's guests are competition freaks who must be first, be the best and win at everything. Jennifer and Judy are twins who have been competing with each other since they were born. As they battle to be the prettiest, the thinnest and the best looking, they constantly sabotage each other. After 46 years, can they learn to end this vicious cycle of one-upmanship? Then, 18-year-old Alice says her mother, Alicia, hates to lose, and turns everything into a competition -- from playing board games to dating!  The competitiveness has gotten so bad that it's put a strain on their relationship. Will Alicia learn that she can enjoy life without always competing? Plus, meet a father who is teaching his kids that there is "no place but first place," and his wife who fears their kids are learning to be sore losers. If you have family members or friends who are obsessed with competition, you won't want to miss this show. Is someone you know obsessed with winning?

Find out what happened on the show.

And One More Thing

And you both chose THAT venue for your 15 minutes of fame.  I have been embarassed by my behavior in my life when someone holds up a mirror to things I have said and done.  I really hope, Jennifer, that you will apologize to your sister for 40+ years of verbal abuse and spend the next 40+ years making it up to her in every way possible.

What planet are you from?????????

Quote From: jlo26us

Yea your right.  Because if it would have been a show on things well done, there would be no response.  Because most people are to quick to be nasty and mean.
You obviously either never or seldom watch the Dr.Phil Show.  We're not talking the Jerry Springer show here.  Can you honestly believe that the entire studio & home audience wouldn't respond and that they are too quick to be nasty and mean????   The majority of the responses to the twins is negative in one way or another, and rightfully so.  Take you head out of the sand & replay the tape of the show.  How can you not be repulsed by their behavior???  Didn't make a tape???  The Dr.Phil Show will be more than happy to sell you a copy.  I've been in the studio audience a few times, and the audience always responds favorable to people who have gone the extra mile; who did something nice when they didn't have to; who helped where help was needed; who lived by the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  The twins are so full of themselves.  They're boring,  narcissistic, disgusting, rude, shallow.   AAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!   I just want to shake some sense into them both.  But I've already wasted too much of my time on them, & they just aren't worth it.

You poor thing you must have major issues.
It seems most people on here do... I find it amazing that when people come on here, who actually love and know Jennifer, that people don't take their word and proceed on in their harsh, and untrue rampages. It is sad, but it seems that they will never understand. So please continue on in your colt like worship of Dr. Phil, because Jennifer has nothing to prove to anyone. She has shown her love a million times over and no one can change the beautiful person she is. We love you Jenny.

I realize it's hurtful for both of you to read the comments on this board, but I personally know a minister who helps people in the community day and night, yet treats his kids and wife with amazing disrespect.  I know because I can hear what goes on behind their closed doors.

Keep in mind that you, as the overweight twin (she's no longer in my shadow because she is so much fatter than I) with bad skin (look at the photo of us I show my clients so they can see how badly she's aging) contributed to this by admitting that you don't even want to have children so that they won't suffer at her sharp tongue.   I have no doubt that she's kind to strangers.  So what?  You have truly been the victim, whether you want to call yourself that or not.

Lisaincali and JoeyJohn, I understand where you both are coming from, and thank you for stating your opinions in a tactful manner. I realize that there are a lot of situations like that of the minister you know, and god bless the victims of such terrible abuse. However, I too, hear what goes on behind closed doors, and there is so much more to this than you all know. I know that the Jennifer shown on television is not the Jennifer I know, or the one I have seen interact with her twin. As for not saying what Jennifer has done is wrong, I feel it isn't my place because with all that has transpired over the years, I personally am not convinced that it is. However, she has repeatedly apologized and that is enough. I don't love her twin in the same way, but I know her just as well. I have no intention of posting again on this board, because -as I have said- Jennifer has nothing to prove here, and nothing can change who she truly is.

SIBLING ABUSE & UNHEALTHY COMPETITION

As painful as it may be, there are birth families that are so destructive that the only option is for a person to get out.  Get out with the little bit of sanity you may have remaining.  Some of my favorite introductory books on the subject of family systems and dysfunction are:

Why is it Always About You?  The Seven Deadly Sins of Narcissism by Sandy Hotchkiss

What Parents Need to Know About Sibling Abuse... by Vernon Wiehe

Emotional Blackmail:  When the People in Your Life Use Fear, Obligation and Guilt to Manipulate You by Susan Forward

Leave to begin a life of healing and recovery so that you can eventually live a joyful and peaceful life.

Hope it helps!

I am not repulsed by the show because I have know Jennifer for a lot longer that 30 mins that you do from the show.  Yea you have been in the audience.  But you don't know what went on.  Just because you went to the show a few times that makes you a expert.  WRONG.  They pump them up before they come out and tell them not to let Dr Phill speak.  I don't watch the show much because I have a life.  Like I said before Jennifer helps a lot of people including myself.  Why didn't they show a family night like we had the other nite.  No you didn't.  So you get your head out of the sand.  Come and spend a nite with us here and then you will see just how good of a person Jennifer is. I will pay just to show you how wrong you are.  Hey maybe Dr Phill will pay for it.

It doesn't matter how great she is off camera, although I'm glad she is.  The two of them went on the Dr.Phil Show for a specific reason:  to address their sibling rivalry & learn how to change their behavior in a more positive way.  And that never even happened.  I'm not the only one who felt that the twins only came on the show for their 15 minutes of fame. They were too proud of themselves & showed no intention or desire to change their behavior.  That portion of the show was a total waste of time.  It doesn't matter what the producer may have told them to say before they went on stage:  they are 2 grown ups in a free country.  They could have said anything they wanted to say.  If they didn't like how the producer coached them, they could have brought the matter up with Dr.Phil.  He wouldn't have been afraid to deal with it.   And further more, I don't need to come to your house (but thank you for the invitation) because I believe you when you say she's a great human being on her own turf.   But they voluntarily wrote Dr.Phil to ask for his help.  Nobody forced them to write that letter.   Once they were welcomed to the show, the reason for the appearance was discarded altogether.   What I'd like to see happen is therapy for them both & then a reappearance a few months later to see how they've grown & matured, not to mention having a 2nd chance to clear their reputation on the Dr.Phil Show.  I'm not trying to badmouth the twins.  I truly want to see them change their relationship for the better.  But please don't ask the rest of us to pretend we didn't notice their unfortunate behavior on camera.   That wouldn't being doing them any favors either.  I just want you to be more open minded about their situation.  Let's all try to help the twins, rather than beat them down about it.  Actually, I would love to sit on the porch swing & have some coffee with you someday.   I think we both could bring something interesting into the conversation.  Take care & God bless you & yours.
