"That's tough to see?"

I appreciate that Dr. Phil spoke to the people in the trenches so-to-speak and not just governement bureaucrats.  He does wonderful things and I thank his staff for that.
I must say that I was ever so disappointed that Dr. Phil didn't extend himself in his usual mountain moving manner for the stranded dogs who he passed.  They were given a lukewarm: "that's tough to see".  I'm so sorry.

Thanks for reading, doguardian

Goodness, I thought I wouldn't write any more messages

Just 2 remarks:

1. I'm glad that people have mentioned the legal trouble that could result from a choking death.

2. Regarding Sarah & Samuel - wow, what a nice young guy to tolerate all of that adult attention with such good grace.  Notice that he kept his arms crossed - a bit of self-protective body armor.

I hope that his family rembers that he might be feeling lots of guilt - perhaps he participated with his brother or at the very least probably thinks he should have "fixed" the problem ahead-of-time.  He might even feel that his mother's distance is because she's secretly mad at him for not "telling" on his brother and because he's still here.  Let's hope all the best for this family.

Other Thoughts

Kara's passion for her music just reflects how important she thinks it is to her parents.  She asks how she could improve because she knows her parents want her to be the "best".

I found myself grimacing at that vision of her marching into the principal's office to be sure she would be singing at yet another football game. Sad.

Did anyone else notice...?

Aileen mentioned that she grew up on the land.  Just as a matter of point then, it really doesn't matter so much that her husband said to put his daughter's name on the deed. The daughter and granddaughter kept focusing on that point and I'm suggesting that his wishes weren't the bottom line - he only obtained the property through marriage.

These ladies need to be corrected...

You are not now and never were pathetic - your husbands were.  Seriously my only criticism of even the original show was that you ladies bear too much guilt.  Yes, it is your job to walk out of an abusive situation but that very abuse contributed to your lack of vision.  Take part of the responsibility but not all of it.  You were really cute during Gloria's song at the end - I was hoping Robin would come out and start dancing with you.  You're all beautiful and I wish you the very best.

Different Viewpoint

I don't agree that Michelle thinks she's in charge now that she's a grown-up.  I think she still feels stuck, like she did in childhood when she was ignored.  By now she goes out into the world like she's going into battle. She anticipates the frustration.

I suspect that all of the negative messages about her were injurious to her healing because they just helped to cement how she thinks the world already sees her - too bad.  I think she continues to sort of balk when she actually has a chance to express herself because the opportunity is so very important to her that she's afraid and she doesn't want to "blow it".

She's definitely made some progress in that she no longer tries to justify that behavior.  Take care Michelle - the whole world does not hate you.

"Dowdy Librarian"/Selfish Kids?

I was ready to feel contempt for the selfish kids but they really won me over.  I wish they were given more credit.  They were great.

Secondly, I was offended by the "dowdy librarian" remark and thought it was quite insensitive. (Obviously I know some knockout librarians.) Thanks - g

Nicole's Impressive Character

Nicole,

Please begin to give yourself credit for your character qualities. You don't appear to blame others. I don't know you and I'm sure you have bad moments but I was impressed that you didn't "go after" your aunt for the things she said. That shows generosity of spirit and I think that same kind spirit can help you throughout your journey this year. (Of course your aunt truly cares but I'd be tempted to hold a grudge.) All the best to you Nicole and I look forward to seeing you back, perhaps next January.

"Deal Braker" To Quote A Famous Man

I wonder if the cat who Chris "squished to death" is gratified, somewhere, that Chris feels he has changed.

Like Mother, Like Daughter-In-Law

These women were like 2 peas in a pod. That poor man married a woman just like mom. Unfortunately they're too close to the situation to be able to see it.
