I agree!

Quote From: debbieofjc

I saw part of the show today, and found myself yelling at the TV, "Tell them about FlyLady!!".

I've had trouble with clutter, and feelings of being overwhelmed, not knowing what to do about it.

I've read several books, including Sandra Felton's "How Not to Be a Messie" (and others).  I got on a message board for "Messies" and saw someone talking about "FlyLady".

The website is http://www.flylady.net.   Flylady is Marla Cilley and her crew. You can subscribe (free!) and get daily e-mail reminders and essays to help you get out of "CHAOS" (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome).

She can teach you how to get rid of your clutter and make your home a peaceful place. Her system uses baby steps (Our homes didn't get messy overnight, and it's gonna take some time to get it in order and keep it that way).  My house is by no means great yet, but I'm improving!

I highly recommend Flylady! She (Marla Cilley) also has a book called "Sink Reflections".

Debbie, I wholeheartedly agree!  I've belonged to a "Flylady" group for about 2 years now, I'm such a huge advocate as to what this way of thinking can do to give us SHEs (Sidetracked Home Executives) the tools to improve our lives, homes, and relationships.  I actually haven't watched today's episode yet, but I posted on my group's messageboard yesterday telling everyone to watch.  In reading their responses tonight, I just had to come to the Dr Phil site and post something about Flylady.  Who would have thought there was already one here?  *wink*  The general consensus of my group is that Flylady.net would be a big help to some of these people on the show today, there was some concern that the solutions given didn't focus on long-term internal changes and were too 'quick'.  In fact I wondered in my post yesterday, "I wonder if Flylady will ever make Dr Phil's radar?".  Now there's a show I'd like to see!

Joining Info?

Quote From: marciek

Some of us on this messageboard who identified strongly with Robin on Tuesdays show , have decided to form an online support group for those of us who are married to, or in a relationship with, a contolling/demeaning spouse or significant other.

You do not have to be married to an engineer to join. Also, this group and its name are not meant to be inflamatory to engineers in general.   Its purpose is to offer support to women, and men who find themselves in similar relationships.

This sounds like something I'd be interested in, but where's the info?  Where is it (yahoogroups?) and what's it called?

Well Done!

Thanks for an early morning laugh! I could counter your comments with the reality,  but don't really see the point.  Now I know why I haven't tried message boards before!  You have a peaceful day.

Your response to this poster's opinion just shows real class.   That you didn't jump right in to defend yourself says that you're completely confident in yourself and your choices, and don't need to convince anyone else of that fact.  Way to go!

I know what you mean!

Quote From: dfieha

Dr. Phil finally came through for me today in an "aha" moment that resonates in my spirit.  This couple is so badly damaged, like me & my spouse that our "psychological skins are burned and just brushing up against each other is painful" WOW!! After the rage, we do nothing to resolve or confront or connect!  This statement was more powerful than the whole shopping thing...which by the way, I love to do, but not destructively.  But I do get the "fill the void"  piece.  I also finally realized we can't come to conflict resolution as a couple, but must first ungo indivual counseling as per Dr. Phil.  I am not normally one of his avid supporters, but today, Dr.. Phil, you touched me at my core!

I just had to post and say that this really hit me hard too.  I know where you're coming from (no, we don't have shopping issues here) ~ it was like a sock to the gut ~ aha!  My husband felt it too, he paused the show to remark on it, "That's us!".  Now if that isn't promising..

A sunburn analogy.  Who woulda thought?
