I have not lost

I have not lost 100 pounds or more.  I need to lose 100 pounds.  I can't do it without help.  I may be starting a new job soon.  Is it wise for me to be starting this at the same time?  I really need to work, and I really need to get healthy.  I wonder though, if I can handle it.........Sus

THANKYOU

Just a few tips I learned from my Mom, that really work.  So many of us have a bad habit of eating too fast, "wolfing down" our food.  And, I have always been the worst!  I thoroughly enjoy food and cooking, and use to eat every meal as if it were going to be my last!  That only piles on the pounds.

It actually takes our stomachs 20 minutes to signal our brains that we are full!  So, when we eat until we are full, much less stuffed, then we are over eating. Slowing down and enjoyng the food really helps with not overeating.  (I'm eating less TUMS, too! LOL).  I am not one who is going to measure everything I put on my plate.  That's just not me.  BUT...I AM losing weight using these tips, along with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

1).  Put your meal on a salad plate instead of a dinner plate.

2).  Put your fork down between each bite

3).  Drink a glass of water before your meal and with your meal

4).  Eat only until you are satisfied.  By the time you have the table cleared and dishes washed, you will realize you are full.  If not, then have a piece of fruit or something.

A Couple of Tips from my Dr:

1).  Focus on one bad habit at a time if you must...First, cut out regular soda, then candy bars, etc. (that was my plan)

2).  Don't focus on the 100 lbs.  You only need to lose 1 - 2 lbs a week.  If you lose it too fast, you will likely gain it back

3).  Set do-able, short term goals.  (Mine are:  Get under 200 lbs, then, get out of plus size dept,  I will set a new short term goal once I have reached these two).

4).  Find some type of exercise that you like.  If you don't like it, you won't do it.  Start small...you don't have to run a marathon the first day.  If we do something for 30 days it becomes a habit...as you get stronger and exercise more often, you will gradually increase your time, pace, etc.

5).  Especially those who have been diagnosed with Diabetes, walking brings your sugar down.  His exact words to me "You don't have to walk every day, just every day that you eat".

Thanks for these tips.  I will definately try to use them.  I love the last line in number 5.

I need message boards and diary buddies

I could really use a buddy or two to share emails, message boards and diaries.  I post to my diary almost every day and would love to have comments and helpful hints to help me through my days.  Sus
