Obviously everyone was suffering, including and perhaps especially Melissa.  Some interpreted her stony face as expressionless, but I felt she was barely holding herself  together.  She seemed to be filled with fear, anxiety and completely bewildered about how to do what was expected of her - namely, expose herself to the wrath of her enraged victims.   I found myself asking what would cause Melissa to be so needy, so unable to empathize with others, that she would seek out attention in such a emotionally vulnerable arena such as an adoption scam?    And why are people so eager to dole out punishment, rather than work, really work  through to a solution that could help everyone grow and become better people?

  I'm left wondering why Melissa just doesn't deliver on her promises:  become a surrogate - twice - once for each of the victims who still want children. Within a couple of years the victims would have their kids, Melissa would have made restitution, and hopefully, all would have learned a thing or two about the Law of Compassion, instead of relying on a penal system that does little to improve or enlighten anyone.

How are they purchasing groceries and clothes? The Picture that is displayed shows them very well dressed. How can parents not work and support their family? Are they living on an inheritance?
