Hi all, I'm new to this board

Hi all.  My name is Gail.  I am 53 years old, married,  no children.  I am 5 ft tall and weigh almost 200 pounds.  I have been overweight since the sencond grade (lots of years).  I started Dr Phils uwls in 2004 and when I got close to 180 I fell apart.  I don't know what it is about that number that messes me up so badly.  Anyway currently I go to Curves but my eating is out of control.  I need to get back on track.  I have read the book but think I need to re-read it cover to cover.   I have to admit that I did not read all the old post to this board, there are just too many of them.

Is there a discussion every Thursday?  If so what time (I live in Pa which I think is 3 hours ahead of Ca).

Am I correct in understanding that the new Fall Challenge will start on monday Aug 29th?   And to be a part of the challenge all I need to do is to post my weight every monday?

Thanks for the warm welcome

Hi, Thanks Cathy, Joy & Sharon for the warm welcome.     I think it will take some time for me to get to know you all and to remember who is who (I do not have the best memory).    I will try and dig out my book and review key 5 for Thursday.   I volunteer at the library that day but will make time to join the discussion.

Joe & all

Joe,  Thanks for the info.

All,  How long and how successful has the UWLS been for all of you.    It would be great if any of you would be williing to fill me in on your journey so far.

My first diet at age 11, doctor's diet with pills (what is now know as speed, I think)  did not last long (2 weeks),  couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, couldn't stop rocking or talking.

I weighed in the 170's when I graduated from high school (1970).

In my late 20's I weighed in the 140's.  That lasted a short time (3 months).  I was under a doctors care, using prescribed appetite suppressants.

I tend to celebrate with food, FEED a cold, fever, sadness, anger, boredom and frustration!

I am still working on understanding all my payoffs.

Well... that is part of my journey....

Hi

Sheryl & Janet,

Thanks for the welcome.  I do have a question for you pc savy people.   When I am sitting on the last post on this board and someone else post a message I don't seem to get the message unless I move to a different board or go back and forth between pages.  Am I doing something wrong?

There is a symbol...green I believe (depending on software) that looks like a recycle sign or arrow in a circular motion. You can also access it in your pull down window under view (I believe...I'm on a mac right now...) Try that.... janet

JANET,    THANKS FOR THE INFO.    I HAVE AOL AND MY REFRESH IS A RED ARROW.   IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT FOR YEARS I WAS A COMPUTER PROGRAMMER, THEN PROGRAMMER ANALYST AND THEN A PROGRAMMER ANALYST SUPERVISOR.  OF COURSE THEY WERE HUGH COMPUTERS IBM & VAC'S.  I MUST ADMIT PC TOTALLY CONFUSE ME.

HI ALL,

I HAVE BORROWED EXERCISE VIDEOS FROM THE LIBRARY MANY TIMES.  YOU GET TO TRY THEM OUT BEFORE YOU BUY THEM AND YOU CAN TRY ALL KINDS OF STUFF, EVEN THINGS YOU DON'T THINK YOU WILL LIKE.  I ALSO HAVE BORROWED WESTERN LINE DANCE TAPES FOR A CHANGE OF PACE.  SO THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE AT THE LIBRARY, CHECK IT OUT.

Welcome to the board...My name is Ladean I am 42, married with 3 sons and 1 step daughter, and I live in Texas...Would you like for me to add you to the list for the Fall/Spring challenge? And yes it starts Aug 29th, and I prefer if you email me your losses/gaines instead of posting to me, in case I miss your post. Our first weigh in day is Monday Sept 5th...I hope you will be here on Thuesday for the discussion on Key 5, it will be a good one.

Hugs,

Ladean

Ladean,

Add my name to the list for the fall challenge.   I will weigh myself on monday the 29th and report any gain or loss to you via e-mail on monday the 5th of September, right?

Heather, Shelly & Ladean - thanks for sharing some of your bio's with me.  It helps me realize

that  I am not in this boat alone.

Shelly,  I live in south central Pa, closest large town is Harrisburg.

The weather here as been so much nicer the past couple of days (not as hot and humid) so I am on my way for a walk outside.

hi Rhonda

Quote From: rosepink18

I am new to this message board thing so please be patient...I am overweight by about 60 pounds if not more and i am so fed up with it, but having a hard time changing it.  I guess my life has a lot to do with it, I feel I am an emotional eater, heck sometimes I don't even think I am hungry when I am eating. Pretty sick, huh? I have two sisters and they are both skinny as bones and I used to be, but for the past 6-7years my weight has been a big problem for me.  I'm tired of me and want to change. Does anyone have any encouraging words or any tools I can use to help get out of this rut I am in. Thanks for listening. Rhonda-maine

Hi Rhonda,  I too am new to this board.  Everyone has been so nice and I share thoughts and ideas.

I am 53, 5 foot tall, weight almost 200, am married with no children.

You will notice that when you try to post you can not change whatever you type in the "message title" field.  I am sure they are working on the problem.   Also I can't seem to get the spell check to work on this message portion of the post process.  I click on the little abc but nothing happens.  Anyway you can usually figure out what everyone is trying to say.

Welcome and don't be afraid to get involved.

Gail
