AHHHH Nacogdoches.........

Quote From: beachsmile

You know I said the A&M main campus is in Bryan, TX, and right next to and called College Station, TX instead. Right when I was clicking I was like oopsies. I'd much rather have snow than ice like mostly what Dallas gets when it is cold. Texas has its perks too. Tyler is nice for roses. Alice, Texas is gorgeous. Gainsville is nice and Nacogdoches is listed as one of the nicest cities in the nation like my home town is. However, if I was moving I'd rather go to my home State. I think all States have their Detroits. No offense to anybody in Detroit. My sister-in-law from a previous marriage is from Iowa and I heard Iowa is quite a lovely State with friendly people and good, basic family values.

It is pretty there and I also love to float down the Guadalupe River.....

Yup, all states have their "undesirable areas"   LOL.

Well, I have to get ready for classes. Almost time to hand over the torch to the man and get out of here. I love "my time", even if I am in a classroom.

ENIGMA

I just wanted to tell you that you are a person who makes me REALLY think.

Finding out "who" we are is pretty powerful in many aspects.

You have my ultimate respect for your wisdom.

SEA

Quote From: beachsmile

I had new poster toaobb12 aka Jen living in another State do to a misread. Hurt her feelings I think when I said the Texas A&M in Commerce was an extension of Texas A&M in College Station Main Campus. Just different schools of study and I didn't mean one better than the other. Looked like business and social sciences in Commerce, Agriculture in College Station, Medicine in Galveston etc. ALL excellent schools as Texas A&M is top of the line. Oh well, maybe MUM is the word for me too today. I was so surprised to know there was an A&M extension in Commerce too. Plus when Jen asked me to guess which city was 60 miles East of Dallas, I was thinking about that and forgot other information so preoccupied with that. Oh well, looks like "I don't do well with the small talk, sometimes" either. And when I was kidding Jen about being from Texas and preferring Indiana over Texas not a good promotional for Texas, not sure will be taken in fun as meant. So true we don't see people's expressions when they type and many things can be taken more than one way. Hugs and prayers, SEA

Oh no, you didn't hurt my feelings in any way.

Some peopole just don't know. What it is called in that town is simply: TX A&M-Commerce.

I was working on my general education at the time, so the programs didn't matter to me. As I said before, if I didn't I am now, Commerce sucks! This small town is just simply horrid.

As far as me being from TX. That is were I was born and raised. Nice place to visit, but never want to live there again. I love where I live in IN, so this is home to me.

Just wanted to let you know that you didn't offend me in anyway.

Have an awesome day!!

HI

Quote From: tammyo1973

Hi, it is nice to hear from you and glad to know that when we don't hear from you right away, it is not because you do not care to post. With the new boards and no delete button I think it is very wise to think about what we post before actually posting. That way we can thnk about our words and make sure we do not offend anyone. Thats what I do. I like to be of support here. But it can get hard when you constanly feel like your being belittled or jabbed at.

I am a 31 year old mother of a 14 year old with bipolar. Talk about rough road. Bp, ptsd, and hormones woooo...

Sometimes I wonder how I can get up int he AM and keep going :))

Have a nice day

Tammy

Glad you stopped by.

Yup, the meds game isn't very fun, but in the grand scheme of thing is sooo very important. Since being Bipolar is all about a CHEMICAL IMBALANCE, meds definitely help balance things better. Side effects, take your pick....they all have something. But the pros wayyyy outweigh the cons.

Keep on keepin on.

odd is not how I would describe an "oldie"

MEDS

Quote From: tammyo1973

Thats what MOST people fail to remember. Bipolar is a CHEMICAL IMBALANCE of the brain and it takes a very delicate combo of meds to recreate balance in the brain.  Some people, IN MY OPINION, never recreate the exact balance, but most strive to find a "balance" that is liveable.

In our house the side affects are much better to live with than the total imbalance.

Tam

Having the right balance is one of the hardest things to achieve.

BUT....on the other hand.........

NOT BEING ON MEDS, is probably worse, because you might  think you are doing ok, but to everyone else, they want to know "what's wrong with you"?????

Some try St. John's Wort, then it either works for a little while ( if you have MILD depression)....or it doesn't, OR it throws you into a manic state.

I truly don't think the "natural" way is very smart at all. Unless you don't have real depression, you can't answer that question logically.

And depression is only one aspect of the disorder, mania is completely different. Unless, you've gone through it, YOU HAVE NO CLUE!!!!!

I just wanted to post my views re: meds vs. no meds.......as this board has laid dormant and if any questions arise.....we have many people that have 10+ years experience with this disorder.

Jen
