Bad mood on the children?

Quote From: jorigrace

I appreciate the response and the advice.  I always used stress to smoke: and I am still afraid of the bad moods and the gaining weight - I just don't want to take my bad moods out on my beautiful children. How do I get that same feeling of sneaking out to smoke when the kids are too much or the day is too long??Again, I appreciate all of the help.  I actually took wellbutrin 6 years a go when we decided to get pregnant and it did work - so maybe it will work again.

Everybody has their reasons to quit. Stress is a big factor in smoking, it's a way to release the tension you are feeling. It's your crutch to hold on to, when no one understands you. And is your best friend when you need a pick -me up. You are a smoker-----you are a nicotine addict !!!!!! Nicotine is one of the hardest drugs to fight. Yes you will be in a "bad mood" and you might "gain weight"!!! But it's your health that will suffer if you keep smoking.

I am living proof of smoking, I had the lung cancer, and had my left top lobe removed at age 49,(I also had a 10 year old son and a 28 year old daughter and a wonderful husband) and thank the Lord it was not any where else. I am 51, and I smoked for 34 years, and I have seen two very close relatives DIE because of smoking, LUNG CANCER!!!!!!!

Smoking is like playing Russian Roulette, it's just a matter of time, before it's "your" time to deal with all the harmful things that come out of smoking.

I also got off too the "sneaking out" to smoke, it's a way of rewarding ourselves for what we have done. But once you have "control" over the smoking that will be your biggest reward, is to know you have kicked the "nicotine demon" where the sun doesn't shine!!!!

My question to you is "how much do you cough"?

Don't give up !

Quote From: cutekoala

I have a confession to make I have been trying to stop smoking for 7 years.  (I did stop when I was pregnant twice).   I go to bed each night thinking tomorrow I'm quiting   I even tried making a date for the end of the month but there is always an excuse.  Kids stressing me out. need a cigarette, husband lights up, need a cigarette.  Get bad news, need a cigarette.  Having a cuppa, need a cigarette.  Social drinking with friends, need a cigarette.  I could go on, on, on....... Actually I'm going for a cuppa now and a cigarette.   (I been on the computer for 5 hours without a cigarette)

Would anyone else like to pick a day it can even be after the new year - but we can start preparing now to stop, seriously stop, no more excuses.  If you are interested please contact me or leave reply.

this was the route I took off this board. See if you can get the  wellbrutrin prescription from your doctor, it takes the edge off of quitting, you have to be on it two weeks or so. Then you pick a quit date, get whatever you need to get you over the hump, nicotine gum, patches or inhaler. I used the inhaler. My suggestion to,you substitube the inhaler for the nicotine you are taking in. Then post often on the board, everyday if you can to get you over the rough times, there is always someone reading the board. But whatever you do don't tell yourself "just one more puff",  after you quit. The  word "NOPE", not one puff ever, that is what I took from this board, a wonderful lady instilled that in my mind, named Shelly. Getting your mind set  on quitting, go to the archives and read the old posts, there is also a web site that can help you see another side of why to quit, www.whyquit.com . That helped me, then there is this meter, that gives you an inscentive. Hope this helps, I fought with smoking so many years, it is really something to say "I'm smoke free".

Hi Shelly-----You go girl

Quote From: mommacros

Well, I have been away for a very long time from this board...... I just wanted to let everyone know that I have finally decided to quit again. I have a lot of determination, and I am prepared for the quit!

I feel very anxious, but I know that the worst will be over very soon. I am working again, I sure do miss my boys... and don't want to be taking time away from them when I am home to go outside to smoke. I also am sick of being stinky.

To all who do not know me, my name is Shelly and I am from Canada. I quit for about 3 months in the winter and started again. The worst mistake I ever made was having that first puff... at least I know that now.

Well best wishes to everyone. Please think of me and send positive thoughts my way.

Hey Shelly, so glad to see you trying again... Are you doing the steps like before, the wellbrutrin, then the patches or gum or inhaler? Update us, the boys are probably getting big by now.

Hopefully Ann will see your posting and try to come on board too. You and Ann have showed us that when you go back to smoking how hard it really is to try to overcome. Shelly, sending you many positive thoughts your way. When that urge hits, keep telling yourself just 5 more minutes, till that urge leaves. Those 5 minutes eventually turn into hours then days and your smoke free once again, this time for good.

You go girl !!!

Trying to Quit Smoking?

Quote From: scooby4_u2

I am just saying that you are doing a good job i wish my grandpa would have made that choise but keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

I am 12 years and i miss my grandpa so much!!

Good luck!!!!

Thank you for the compliment. Sorry about your grandpa. In reading this message board you can see that quitting smoking is something that is so hard, and if you "don't quit", the outcome is you will die!!! So don't ever start. I started on a "dare", worst mistake of my life. I now have one missing lung because of my smoking. Good luck to you in life, and learn from what your grandfather left you.

Hi Windy66

This was the route I took off this board. See if you can get the  Wellbrutrin XL prescription from your doctor, it takes the edge off of quitting, you have to be on it a week or so. Then you pick a quit date, get whatever you need to get you over the hump, nicotine gum, patches or inhaler. I used the inhaler. My suggestion to you, substitute the inhaler for the nicotine you are taking in. Then post often on the board, everyday if you can to get you over the rough times, there is always someone reading the board. Getting your mind set  on quitting, go to the archives and read the old posts, there is also a web site that can help you see another side of why to quit, www.whyquit.com . That helped me, then there is this meter, that gives you an incentive. Hope this helps, I fought with smoking so many years, it is really something to say "I'm smoke free".

Since you are a closet smoker, "how many do you smoke a day"? Everyone seems to be so judge mental of smokers....restaurants, malls...so on.  Since you had quit for aleast a year, you know how good that must  have felt not to have to hide anymore. I too was a closet smoker for a little over a year. Keep posting let me know how you are coming along. It's a hard to totally let go of the habit, but once you replace it with something else, your lungs will say now I have a chance at life.

running on empty

Hi,

I relate to so many of the postings that are on this message board. I want something  different in my life.  I am surrounded with a small, but important circle people that are so negative in life. I'm the one that  tries to please others, and receives nothing in the end. I've read the self help books, a couple years ago, and will reread them again.

I do grab "me" moments. That I do for myself. It's more like crawl in a hole moments.  But when I feel really happy or tickled, it's like I have

"No" one person to share with.  Everyone is too involved with their selves to really listen. I'm surrounded with a lot of strong personalities, that just want to hear themselves talk., or a "that's good", now time to talk about me.

52, and running on empty.
