Hello Friends

Hello Friends ~ Sherry (sharonx2) here ~ I am testing this to see if I am finally re-registered. Today's words seems to call for "persistence" to learn something new.  I like some of our options listed above.  Hope I can learn to navigate these new boards. When I finish this message and hit post, then I plan to "right click" on my message to you and then drag down to "Create Shortcut" to see if it will place a shortcut to the new message board on my desktop. Then if the new icon appears on my desktop I can drag down to "Rename" and name it WLC message board. It worked before, hope it works again. Sure makes it a lot easier than going through the home page, draging down through the list of all the message boards, etc. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Update - I am doing so much better today with my new walking cast. So glad to be out of that wheelchair. It is like being out of prison. I have increased compassion for the handicapable that have to be in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives. Such challenges it brings. ~ Sherry (sharonx2)

Hello Friends

Sherry (sharonx2) here ~ I've been enjoying your messages.

Rachel ~ You have the stats interpretation correct. We also meet in a chat room (usually at 5 p.m. CT or 7 p.m. CT) You can get to it by going to compassionconnection.org/WLCchat.htm ~ This chat room was set up for our Over 60 WLCs.

Ruth T ~ I love your picture on your profile. Gin  ~ You are doing great staying at your goal. We need to design a page for you on our WLC family photo album. That reminds me, I need to get all our WLC pages listed on my profile. Wish I had a copy of my last profile so I wouldn't have to reconstruct that long list.

Flo & Bev ~ Happy Birthday.

Fluffy ~ so glad you arrived safely at your destination. Take time to unpack and try to enjoy the journey.

By the way ~ yesterday I was successful when I did a "right click" on my message after I posted it. Then I drag down to "Create Shortcut". This places an icon on your "Desktop" of the Dr. Phil message board. Next time you want to get into the message board just double click on this icon and it takes you there without having to go to the home page, and wading through the long list of message boards. Just a thought.

Chat Room ~ Well it's time to check the chat room. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello Friends

Sherry (sharonx2) here ~ Top of the morning to ya ~ "Laughter doeth good like a medicine" - Enjoy the following:

A couple had been debating the purchase of a new auto for weeks. He wanted a new truck. She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town.   He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range.   "Look !" she said. I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in 4 seconds or less. "And my birthday is coming up. You could surprise me."   For her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale.   Services will be at Downing funeral home on Monday the 12th, due to the condition of the body, this will be a closed casket service. Please send your donations to the 'Think before you say things to your wife foundation', Dallas, Texas.   Now that I have my walking cast and it can be removed I am able to get on that scale for the first time in months. I had nightmares of having gained more than ten pounds due to the stress of my husband's hospitalization and my accident as I took advantage of a lot of "comfort food" that was offered to us. Well I did show a gain, but the good news is "His mercies are new every morning" and my weight gain shows up as 5.5. I recognize this is not good, but I haven't been swimming since the end of April, if I recall. August 10th, I may be out of this walking cast. It is my hope that I will be able to resume swimming at that time. Sure miss doing my laps. I have been doing exercises that my home health physical therapist taught me. They are nothing in comparison to the benefit I receive from swimming my laps.  But please be patient with me, I will lose this 5.5 once again. Especially after I resume my swimming. This morning I added our WLC photo album pages to my profile. For any of you newbies just double click on sharonx2 and it will take you there. Then you can double click on the WLC pages. Helps us get to know each other better when we can place a face with a name. Gin I want to do a page for you since you have reached your goal. Have a great week my friends.   Sherry (sharonx2)

Hello Friends

Sherry (sharonx2) here ~ Hello Friends ~ Just had a couple minutes to scan the boards.

Vebe ~ so glad with Vicki's help you were able to figure out the Chat Room. Vicki is right ~ it is www.compassionconnection.org/WLCchat.htm ~

One of the easiest ways to assure your easy access to the chat room follows: When you get into the chat room (1) "right" click on that chat room page. (2) Drag down to "Create Shortcut" and click on it. This will place an icon on your "Desktop" for the Chat Room. Later you can (1) "right" click on that new icon on your desktop and drag down to "Rename". Then you can name it "WLC Chat" if it doesn't already say that. This saves you gobs of time when you want to get into the chat room the next time because you can just go direct to your desktop and double click on the chat room icon.

Diane ~ There is a way to read e-mails without opening them. (1) Just "right click" on an e-mail. (2) Drag down to "Properties" (3) Click on "Message Source" and you can scan down and read the e-mail without having opened it. This is great especially if you suspect a virus.

Erasing mistakes we type on the message board or anywhere else ~ If you have typed a word or phrase and want to change it just hit "Ctrl Z" and it will "undo" the last thing you typed.

My DH asked me to advertise our 30' trailer in the Sunday paper for 8 days. Within the first hour we had a call. The man came from another town and bought the trailer for $1,500 more than I paid for it. Made my DH very happy. This man is to pick the trailer up tomorrow. He paid us $1,000 to hold it for him. We asked him for a money order for the total and then we will return his personal check.

Hope everyone has a great week. Lots of August birthdays. Thanks Ruth T for sending those by e-mail. If I don't get on here on "your day" know that you are wished the best birthday yet.

If you are new to the boards you can double click on my "profile" and it will tell you how to go to our WLC Family Photo Album on Compassion Connection. We have 15-18 pages of pictures of each other. Once you get to the first page, scroll down to the bottom and it will lead you to gobs of other WLC pages. Helps to add a personal touch enabling each of us to get to know each other better.

Hello Friends

Hello Friends ~ Sherry (sharonx2) here ~

It has been so long since I posted or read the boards that it has taken me thirty minutes to figure out my password. I will try to check in more often.

Just a quick note to tell you that I have added something to my Compassion Connection "home" page. Copy and paste this URL into your web browser www.compassionconnection.org and it will take you there. Then scroll down to Hurricane Katrina ~ a place to list missing persons or to tell your loved ones you are ok ~ in fact it is a Hurricane Katrina resource center.

I am so thankful that Carolyn is ok. Hope all others connected with this board and that area are ok.

It breaks my heart and literally brings me to tears and much prayer as I follow the hurricane coverage. God forgive me for ever complaining. It has shown me that I haven't even known suffering  - the words that come to my mind - "the beginning of sorrows". I was blessed when I heard something positive from the refugees today. The reporter said after they receive food, water and shelter their number one request has been for a Bible.

Update on Hurricane Katrina

Hello Friends ~ Sherry (sharonx2) here ~ Hope you haven't forgotten me.  Haven't read the boards  in a long time. I have such difficulty logging in for some reason.

I was thrilled with Dr. Phil's input on Hurricane Katrina on the Larry King program last night. I missed part of it. Hope they run it again.

I have been spending hours on daily updating my Hurricane Katrina webpage. If you know anyone who would benefit from this information, PLEASE share this with them. This has turned into quite a resource page. For instance ~ information on how to forward mail and Social Security checks, info on missing children, info on Noah's Wish - pet rescue, information on housing, a Survivor Connector Database. There are at least 29 links as of this time. Check it out if you have a chance. www.compassionconnection.org/HurricaneKatrina.htm

Gin, could you contact me. I am ready to do your page. Just e-mail me as I need some informaiton from you - before & after pictures - your favorite music - etc., etc.

I noticed many days back different ones mentioned they did not want to receive any forwards. I am the same way due to the fact that I receive so much e-mail and cannot keep up with it. I do want to receive list of birthdays, important info on each of you, anything for your webpages, etc. But I too would request no fowards unless it is something to use on my website. Thanks.

Finally I was able to log in

I had about given up on these boards. It never wants to take my "username" and "password".  I just don't have time to mess with it on most days. Sherry (sharonx2) here.

I have completed a "Tribute to WLCs Gin" page. But I must warn you in order to view it properly you need to open to full screen and to turn up your sound. (To open to full screen go up to the right-hand corner of your screen and click on the square that is in between the hyphen and the x)

For some reason these side borders do not work well with what I am trying to do. Also most of the graphic artists I have used in the past are unavailable at this time for free graphics. Most of them have gone to graphics you have to pay for.

I apologize to Gin as I would have done a much better job if I hadn't had all these obstacles. I just wish, Gin  herself, could view this graphic in its full color. Maybe she could view her page on someone else's computer. Gin likes quilting and that is what I wanted to achieve. Most of my graphic sites that offer quilt graphics are now unavailable. That was a little unsettling to me.

In order to view Gin's new page copy and paste the following into your web browser www.compassionconnection.org/WLCWOWs18.htm Once you get to that page you can drag down to the bottom of Gin's page and it will link you to gobs of other "Over age 60 WLC" picture pages. For all you newbies, this is one way to get to know your WLC friends. Enjoy!

P.S. I am to have an MRI of my left knee this week. Probably schedule surgery after October 9th. Will be back in my wheelchair for 3 weeks, but this will be done on an outpatient basis and nothing compared to my other surgeries.

Going to check out the chat room right now. Hope to see  you there.

This must be my day

Hello Friends - Earlier today I logged in on Joan's computer from her beautiful home. Joan, Elsie and I had a great visit. We had lunch together at Cheddars. Joan and Elsie look so good.

I haven't read the boards for almost 2 months, if I remember correctly. So I really feel at a loss as to what is going on in each of your lives.I will try to do better. I took some pictures today. I will try to get them on our WLC pages as soon as I can. Doubt if it will be this evening, however. I will let you know when.

I haven't been swimming for a couple months due to health challenges. I had five teeth extracted recently. We are trying desperately to get them healed so I can go ahead with my knee surgery. Oral surgeon attributes all this to my compromised immune system. I am believing that 2006 and offer better health than 2005.

I may get to go see my daughter, grandkids and family in Houston TX for Thanksgiving. Her in-laws are going but they need to drive only in daylight. They will leave 5 days after my knee surgery. Doctor said I could go if I get out and stretch and walk every 1 1/2 hours. Well a normal trip takes 12 hours. They do not want to drive in Houston after dark. So I don't know if I can convince them to take me anyway.

As Joan pointed out if I just walked around the car perhaps every 2 hours it probably would only take a minute each time and may only equal 5 minutes total delay. Even if it was 10 minutes total delay, it should be doable. Hope I can convince them of this. I haven't been to Houston for close to 3 years. My  grandson, Isaiah, continually asks me to come. Also I will have a birthday while there and get to be there for Thanksgiving if they allow me to ride along.

This time (November 17th) will be outpatient surgery. I have a torn maniscus in two places. Should only take a couple hours. Doctor said I should be able to put some weight on it and use my platform walker and not need my wheelchair this time. Most people would use crutches, but because of my hands I have to use the walker where I put the weight on my arms instead.

Well enough about me. How are all of you? Can't help but wonder what I have missed.

Haven't weighed in a long time so don't know what to report there. Instead I have been concentrating on getting on top of these physical challenges and not adding any additional stress. Also since end of September I have been on a liquid and soft diet due to the oral surgery. Starting to eat some solid foods now. Just can't have anything crunchy for some time to come.

Again, have a great weekend. Stay safe and stay well.

Hugs,

Sherry (sharonx2)

Hello Friends

Sherry (sharonx2) here ~

Third try ~ You know what they say 3 is a charm ~ Sent two other messages off into cyberspace. Actually when I hit "Edit" it causes the message box to go blank. Most other websites allow you to add to, change or delete something when you hit Edit.

To all of  you who have had birthdays since June 8th (the date of my accident) belated Happy Birthday.

Joan, Elsie & I had the privilege of breaking bread together last Thursday at Cheddars. I have posted a picture on my WLC photo album pages (on the Friends) page of the three of us. I must apologize for the quality of the picture. Maybe my camera needs a battery as pictures use to be so much better. Anyway, we had a good time of fellowship together.

I also posted a picture of me that someone gave me Sunday. As you can see I am wearing the same outfit I wore Thursday. I love warm turtleneck sweathers in this cold weather.

You can always get to the WLC photo album pages by doing a double click on my Profile and then do a copy and paste of the URL listed there. That takes you to the main page and you can scroll down from there and double click on all other WLC pages. I purposely do not list the WLC pages on the "Home" page of Compassion Connection for privacy reasons. Under the old format I was able to list all WLC pages on my Profile, but I no longer have that option.

You can also do a copy and paste of the following two URLs and paste these one at a time into your web browser to view these pages. Course once you get to one page, scroll down and it will take you to all other WLC pages.

http://www.compassionconnection.org/WLC.htm

http://www.compassionconnection.org/WLCWOWs5b.htm (WLC Friends page)

One of these days I hope to get back to posting more pictures. I have been saving them, but haven't had the stamina to work with the pictures at this time. Please be patient with me.

Have a great weekend my friends. Stay safe. Stay well.

Hug someone you love.

In response to Laineybea

Lainey, when the new format for this message board began, we were no longer able to click on a URL (or e-mail address) in our profiles or in these messages and have it take us where we want to go.

But, all is not lost, you can either write the following two URLs out and then type them into your web browser or if you know how to do a copy and paste, just copy one of the following URLs and then go paste it into your web browser (one at a time). Course once you get to one of the WLC pages it will take you to the others as you scoll down to the bottom of the page.

www.compassionconnection.org/WLC.htm

www.compassionconnection.org/WLCWOWs5b.htm  ~   (WLC Friends page)

Hope this works for you so you can see our new WLC pictures. I've always said that computers can either be a total dream or an absolute nightmare.

Give it another try and enjoy the journey.
