Hi, new here...

Hi, I just reregistered with Dr. Phil's website, and am looking around.  I am 28, and started my weightloss journey last fall at 283 pounds.   I have lost 53 so far, and am down to 230.  My goal is 150 pounds.  I have also begun to work through Family First and am finding that an interesting journey as well.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Ladean (did I spell that right?)  I will be back often.  I have been looking for a place just like this for a while.  Right now, I must fix dinner then get the kids off to bed.  My daughter started kindergarten this year, and the bedtime routine has been difficult at best.

Do you have a name? and where are you from?

Hugs,

Ladean

My name is Tabitha.  I'm in Texas.  Work-at-home mom of two wonderful children that drive me to distraction sometimes.   I've been at a platuea for a while now,  stuck at 230  since almost the start of the year.  Maybe a couple of months into it.  So, I'm taking some time to start over from scratch.  Rereading Ultimate Weightloss Solutions, stepping up my exercising a bit.  That's where I am as far as weightloss is concerned.  Someone mention a challenge?  Can y'all tell me more about it?

Well, I would love to join the challenge!  I will tell you this, I was part of a weightloss MB support group that had an 8 week challenge that cost ten dollars to enter.  I paid it, and did pretty well, came in second, but was never sent the prize money.  Go figure.  After that, I stayed away from the other support boards I was going to as well.  But I'm back and I really love the changes that have been made here.  It's been almost six months since I've been to these boards and they are just terrific.

Anyway, do I just PM Ladean with my starting weight, or at the end of the week?  I'm really excited.  This challenge is just the kick in the pants I need to get my butt over this hill!

As far as any secrets to losing 53 pounds, really there aren't any.  I haven't followed the 7 keys to the letter, though it would probably help if I did.  I go grocery shopping on the 9th, I"ll be making my list from dr. phils food guide.  I SOOOO want the cookbook!  Oh well, one step at a time.  I can say, that before reading UWS, I rarely, if ever, exercised.  I have cut way back on my food intake and started exercising like mad.  (for me that was 3 times a week)  My favorite exercise video is the Walk Away the Pounds.  I have the 1 mile and 2 mile video, and a 2 mile video for abs.  I used to hate excersize videos cause I could never keep up with them.   And until WATP, I had never been able to complete one, not even the ones for beginners.  I also have a couple of pieces of excersize equipment that I'll be setting up in my living room this week.  (Much to the chagrin of my dh, but OH WELL!)  Actually, he is all for my weightloss and is rather supportive of me.  Anyway, these two pieces of equipment will help me battle my couch potatoe addiction, as I'll be able to exercise while watching my favorite shows in the evening.  I have a HUGE soda addiction that I am battling at the moment, so I have a question for someone, anyone here.   I haven't had a glass of water in a month.  (and i wish i were exaggerating.)  I drink nothing but Dr. Pepper and Milk.  2% on the milk.  Can't go any lower.  But is there someone here who would be an accountability buddy for my water intake vs my soda intake.  I can't  just quit cold turkey, but I know that I would want it less if I drank more water.  Anyway, it's 3 in the morning here in TX, and I must get to bed before I turn into a pumpkin.  My work schedule is so screwy, even with working from home.  MY h and I deliver a paper route, so I have to get up and help him roll and bag them so he can go deliver them.  I also sell Avon.    Which is cool.  I just started that, and found out I can get my own personal website for it.  So I'm in the process of customizing that.  The best time for something like that is at night  after the kids go to bed.  Otherwise my two year old is all over me for attention.  Which, I don't mind.  It's just that sometimes mommy has to get stuff done.  Another symptom that I need to go to bed is that I have now babbled on far longer than I intended to.  And that whole soda confession makes me feel like a complete fraud!  I haven't lost any weight in months, but I am so thankful I haven't gained any of it back because of the soda.  Well, g'night all!  Have great days to those that are up and great night's sleep to those who are not!

Sharon

I am in San Angelo.

Joe, I wasn't thinking that there would be a cash prize or anything here, just relating what had happened the last time I had joined an online  WL challange.  I am so looking forward to this though.

At any rate, I hope that everyone has a great day.

Had an interesting day today.  Gas prices jumped 20 cents in the course of two hours.  Seeing as how we deliver a newspaper route every night, this is getting to be a major problem.   We are currently at 2.69 a gallon.  YIKES!

Does rearranging heavey furniture count as intentional exercise?  LOL, that's what I am about to be doing.  Have a great day everyone!

Been offline for a month

Sorry I have been gone for a month and a half.  Been an interesting month.   But I am back, with news!  I have gone down 11 more pounds to 219.   That is a total of 64 pounds so far!   It's taken me a year, but it's been worth it.  I just have 69 more pounds to go!

Welcome back and a huge congratulations!  You're doing great!

I saw in your profile that you are currently writing a book - can you give us a teaser on what it's about, i.e. what category we will find it at the bookstores once it's published?

Hugs,

Sharon

Well, it's a fictionalized story about my life.  I'm just starting, working on the outline and stuff like that.  I'm 28, and have had an eventful like with some rather bad downs.   But I've come through it alright....I am hoping that I can use it to do some good.

Sharon....

I enjoy writing a great deal.   Mainly short stories and poetry though.  This is my first venture into an actual book.   But it seems like most of my time is taken up by my  children...and I'm not complaining.  I just have to figure out how to budget my time a little.  Big time....

publishing...

Quote From: shelley

I would love to join you two writing a book.  Just need to find the time/energy.  Have published a couple short stories and articles, and they took so much time, I can only imagine what a book would be like!!
How does one go about  publishing their short stories?  I have no idea where to start on publishing anything, nevermind an entire book.!  I want to go through a reputible company, not one of those publish on demand companies.  And I am thinking that it would help if I had some of my short stories published.

Anyway, today has been one relaxing day, for the most part.  Our heater is out, and it rained today.  It is very cool out.  And inside the house has felt like a refrigerator all day.  I haven't had a space heater in years, haven't needed one.   I live in west Texas.  So I'm not too worried about it, it'll probably be warmer in a couple of days.  Heck, we've had 75 degree Christmas's, only for it to snow the next holiday season.  Today's one of those days where I want to curl up with all sorts of warm treats and eat/drink.  But thankfully, it's almost the end of the week.  Groceries are limited, cause I shop once a week.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
