to the moderator

If in your ability to do so as you perfect these new boards for our use.....It would be greatly appeciated if there could be some way to  number these messages. It would be such a time and trouble saver.   Doesn't have to be as complicated as the earlier boards.  Just a way to be able to jot down where we left off when we come back  here from time to time.  Thank you.    Rainy

So, why are you posting this here? If you don't like the way we respond to each other, go elsewhere--stick to a particular topic. The "topic" you address can't be found under "World Events."

If you want to talk about a little of this, a little of that, almost always (eventually) with a political slant, hang around.

You're welcome here, you know. Just because everyone posting right now seems to be "blue" doesn't mean it will stay that way.

And, you are wrong. It is a community. Once it was a diverse community. I hope it will be again. Perhaps you can help in that respect.

was in a crash mode for a couple of weeks but am now fixed.  I wonder what happened to all the hot headed  die-hard current events folks?  I really got a kick out off their carrying ons ( gees that is bad grammar).    I see you and cygne and maybe one other only.  what happpened to grim and taylor and team  etc and that guy from the netherlands I think?  well  I guess we can carry on without them ...cause current events do happen all the time.  I hope this does not turn into the uglies of debate tho and allows posters to give their take on the subject at hand.   yada yada yada  lol   Sally

Had out of town company and got to ignore a lot of the news last week   .  No wonder I feel happier and lighter hearted today.  lol

When I read it, I got this image of you working hard to suppress a laugh. Caught by surprise, I just laughed out loud.

I agree that freedom of and from religion is at risk right now. As one of the irreverent, I notice that we deposed Saddam, who kept a cap on the religious fanatics in Iraq. In America, they've been unleashed, they think. Our religious fanatics are just as dangerous to democracy as the fanatics of any other country.

very cute.  used it to send to the perfect person.   lol  Sally

glad to see you back

Taylor and Grmn.   Super to see you back here.  When the boards changed I started this one thinking you would come back to post all your infor that kept the former board hopping .  lol.   Many of us had a hard time getting back on here.  I wonder how good ole Valeria and teamrocket and the guy from the Neatherlands are?   Anyway, glad to see the familar names again.

My Soninlaw has relatives ( many) who either lost everything due to Katrina or had bad damage to homes and belongings due to wind and/or water.  But fortuately no loss of life.   So   I sent  money directly to the victims and I  say prayers and hope... even if it is really too much to comprehend.

If you come across any good news RE:world events - don't hesitate to post it.    Sally

Did you note the disclaimer  if you had to sign in again to get here?  The show -being for information and entertainment purposes only and not  to give answers for medical or mental problems.  Humm?

Well this board in the past sure did give out information and was very entertaining.  Especially when the frequent debate(s) appeared   lol.

too much preempting

sorry...but over l2 hours of uninterrupted coverage on all main channels  in the Detroit area for this Rosa Parks funeral is too much.  a quiet, dignified woman like Rosa deserved a ceremony befitting a classy woman.... not some outspoken  orations from those with  political agenda and too much loud wind...It's dark out and there is still coverage of the coffin on the road to the cemetery ...Good grief.  Way too much.

As I started this topic with this new board I thought I would come here to complain. lol  Sally

sally's thought

When I started this board back in July of 05  I thought it would be a good place to view my opinions on world events...but  I never seem to have the time and the inclination to do that...now I am just disgusted at the antics of Wash. DC and those in charge there...I think the war is a disaster and should have a calendar with a withdrawal date posted...I think that  being puppets for the oil  companies is something disgusting and annoying.  I think there can never be peace abroad until we can meet the needs and find justice for our own citizens.  I think equality for any minority group has to be earned by responsible living and not by noise and  demonstration which only fuels the fire of prejudice.  I think we are on the road to destruction if we fail to accept the fact  that we need to protect our natural resources and keep our air and water and land pollutant free.  I think the outrageous monies paid to Hollywood stars and rock musicians and drug taking athletes is  wrong and only serves to reflect what we value as a people.  Dreadful.  I think that  integrity is a word without meaning to most of the people  governing and running our top companies.  And I post these ideas just to clear them out of my mind.  I have no desire to discuss them here.  I hope you have enjoyed this board since I first started it.  Sally
