Bipolar Disorder

Quote From: faith__

I was on Lamictal for about a year but then all of a sudden I had a bad reaction to it.  My doc mentioned Lithium as a next step for me but I was hesitant; so he went with Abilify instead.  Antidepressants throw me into a manic/rapid cycling state as well.  I'm just now trying to add one again, Lexopro, because I've been so depressed.  My pdoc says that since I've been on Abilify for awhile I might be able to tolerate the antidepressant.  So far so good.

It all gets exhausting.   How are you doing today?

I am doing well. Thank you.

I just dont think that the lamictal is doing anything for me or has in the past.  So far I am managing well without the full dose or anything else to help. I wasnt diagonsed till I was 29 yrs old  and was never medicated. I have already gone through so many meds. Ill get there eventually. Hopefuly when I get a new doc things will improve.

10/07 The Latest Debates

Quote From: jfiroello

For those women who are attempting to change the thought patterns of other Americans on breast feeding, I say if you show me yours then I'll show you mine!  Perhaps I will just whip out my breast in front of you while your eating, then we will see how "natural" it is to you.

I am an advocate for breast feeding, but I did it descretely.  I find women who just want to show the world what they are doing just obscene.

It's natural to urinate or deficate too, but no one wants to do it out in the open in front of others.   Have some respect & privacy for yourself & others.

How can you call yourself an advocate for breastfeeding and make a rude comment like that.

I have seen many a breastfeeding mom and I have never in my life seen a woman just  "WHIP IT Out " as you say happens.  The only time I have ever seen a woman whip it out was in r rated movies with such material.

I am in 100% serious doubt that any of these breastfeeding moms are feeding their children in public for the sheer joy of presenting herself just so.

In fact I have meet many people in my day that do find deficating in public extremely funny, and quite enjoyable if I do remember.

perhaps you shpould focus your attention on the people who are actually doing things that are offensive to the public...like 16 yr old girls walking around with skirts so short you can see neverland....I find that more OBSCENE then a BFing mom.

But if you insist on whiping yours out by all means bring it on.....I for one will not find it obscene or offensive ..a little odd yes but offended no.

So breastfeeding in public is bad because you might see a bit of boob, but watching Jessica Simpson sing about her "DD boobs" while wearing a bikini so small that there is NOTHING left to the imagination is ok, on network TV.

Or Paris Hilton selling burgers in a black suit that really left nothing to the imagination is OK.

Or seeing the latest Britney Spears pic of her grabbing Kevin's crotch is OK.

It's Ok for me to work in a school and have to see girls wearing skirts so short, I don't have to guess if they are wearing a thong or not is ok or have to guess what color their bra is because I can see it through their shirt (never mind all the straps showing),  Or to see boys with their pants so low that I see their underwear.

Trust me when I say I would rather see a breastfeeding mother than any of the above.

As far as the woman on the show today and the "wiping your nipple on the toilet seat" comment.  She needs to stuff it!  When my baby is born in March, I plan on breastfeeding.  I am not going to be tied to my house because baby might need to eat.  I will feed my child where I am comfortable and let me tell you, I am not comfortable peeing in a stall in the mall much less feeding my child in one.  Whether is a bench in a nice quiet area or a table in the food court, I am going to feed my baby.  If I'm lucky maybe the Motherhood store may have a dressing room open and I can feed there (They encourage it there) but if someone needs that room to try on clothes, I will happily move for her and continue my session elsewhere.

To those of you who only see breasts as sexual, you need to remember that they were there first and formost to feed you baby.  Sex is a secondary characteristic of them.

I have been commenting in this board since monday ...and I just have to say thank you...

For your responce to this topic is by far the best I have read.

I agree with you 100%, and I hope that you do not have people evil eyeing you or asking you to leave when you are nourishing your child.

Here's my thought

I havent seen the show yet it is on here tuesday at 5pm..so that said .......

If someone wants to fulfill a dream  no matter when the dream was thought of or came about ..that person should be able to do it WITH the support of the spouce REGARDLESS......If the spouce does not like the dream then they need to get over it....the only way that would falter is if the dream was to in some way or another harm or worse the dreamseeker  (if that makes sence).

As far as the 30 yr old virgin ..YAY you!!!.....stay true to yourself and your beliefs.

Now the case of the 8 yr olds weight.....if the child is more then 15lbs over weight I have a problem with that. There is no reason a child of that age should be that much over weight....but like I said I havent seen the show so thats all I have to say about that.

10/18 "I Am Right!"

Oh and the Home schooling thing

If anything  the kids have more opportunities to experience things outside the home.

Most schools do not have anything to offer the kids except academics, so what of those kids they miss out on everything...

There is nothing better then learning about the world then learning from it in real life ..not from a book...   my 9yr old does attend school..my other child is 15 m0 old and I am seriously considering homeschool. I feel that I can teach my children more then they can get out of a class room and they will not be held up in a stinky old building all day. Instead they have the day to discover new and exciting things and still have the opportunities to play sports and whatever they wish....

The Best Baby Advice I Got

Quote From: my_bubba

I am actually not a mother, but I have a toddler brother that is 20 years younger than me.  The best advice I have gotten is from Dr. Phil and Dr. Karp (Happiest Baby on the Block, Happiest Toddler on the Block).  I actually bought Family First because I am like a second mother to my brother.  I apply both Dr. Phil and Dr. Karp's advice and it works wonders.

:o)

I have not ever heard of that book. I am sure it is great, but take it from a real mother. There isnt a book in the world that will give you any advice that is worth a darn.....

And my real advice.....Do not take in everything you read....No book will be able to teach you anything about being a mom. Not even the ones from real moms.

10/18 "I Am Right!"

Congrats to the Virgin!!! ...Way to go.

But.........get a clue there guy on what a soul mate means. Seams to me he was looking for the ideal looking trophy wife, not an ideal souls mate.

Dr.Phil was right he probably missed her because he is blinded by the non real girl..

Good luck to you..stay true to your values and change that unrealistic  goal you have and find yourself a real woman.

Homeschooling. I am all for it. How I wish my parents had the time to school us.  I think those against it are not looking at the whole picture. There is a whole world that you can give your children that they will NEVER get from books and teachers trying to teach 30 kids at a time.

I am not saying everyone homeschool ..of corse it is very hard work, but do not look at it like the child will miss out because they will not,..there are programs outside of school that they can attend, community theater, sports, boys and girls scouts..plenty of places the child can nuture their social skills.

I hope when the time comes that I can homeschool my child.

Bless all you mamas that homeschool...you deserve to be congradulated..

(in no way am I suggesting those that do not homeschool are wrong just encouraging you to look at the whole picture)

PEACE
