04/24 The Final Ultimatum

I am not sure this child should be returned to Ed. I haven't seen it yet but in the synopsis they say he was not willing to have counseling until Dr. Phil threatened him with Child Protective Services.

I feel so sorry for this poor little girl, how could a normal person hate her! I guess the step-mom was brave to admit she couldn't be trusted with her, better that than kill her in a tantrum.

This is a no-win situation. If the Dad does go to the girl and kick the StepMom to the curb, then has the child been given too much power?

Excuse my stream of conciousness, this really troubled me.

NANCY DAVIS MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM!!!!!

I appreciate Nancy Davis, her devotion to MS and all the money she has helped raise but  am so darn tired of her representing MS as something you can just dominate with a postivie attitude. Has she met Annette Funicello? Did she know Richard Pryor? There are other examples of people with MS and she has been one of the fortunate ones.

Every time my family sees her on these talk shows they ask me if I am sure I can't walk straight if I ONLY tried. They wonder if I am just sleeping cause I'm lazy. Surely I could think more clearly if i was more like Nancy!!!!

I am sorry, i don't like having MS and I do everything in my power to maintain a positive attitude and keep my life as normal as possible but it's people like her that create problems for people like me.

12/18 How Are They Now?

Has the whole world gone Christmas shopping!!  No one is here.

I love follow up shows and I wish Dr. Phil would do more of them. I look forward to seeing how these people have fared since Dr. Phil stepped in.

Wonderful Holidays to all.

05/10 Obsessive Love: Secrets Revealed

Quote From: danielcrew

Ok, obvioulsy I must have missed something.  I have watched Thursday's and Friday's shows about Jefferey and Jennifer.  My husband and I are shouting at the tv "What the heck?!  Why isn't Dr. Phil calling her on the affairs?!"  (Our daughter says we get too involved. lol ) Is there a show we missed?  If we didn't miss anything, then I don't get it.  Why isn't Dr. Phil asking her why she's at a bar until 2:00 a.m.????  Why is she asking for pictures of some guy's butt????  These aren't going to make a husband feel cozy!  When she said she couldn't believe how out of control Jefferey was when he came home and found her cheating on him, my husband and I screamed "DUH!!!!" What are we missing?!

Thank you! I felt the same way. If I was married to this obsessive creep, the last thing I would do is play into his suspicions. WHY would she go to a bar with someone the husband already suspected. She has several young children - how about a G-rated movie or miniature golf with the whole family? I don't recall bar-hopping when my kids were little.

Jeffrey is definitely a very sick man; I doubt he would ever be able to be in a healthy relationship with Jennifer but I see some real mistakes on her part as well. It will be interesting to see what the next segments show. I have a feeling he will end up in jail.

Did anyone notice mention of his family? I wondered how he got this way. Does Jennifer still love him or is she just stuck?

05/21 The Dr. Phil House: “Make My Kid a Star,” Part 3

Quote From: puck99

Thanks for your concern. If our guys book three commercials in one day, that's not a bad thing, is it? Even if it's only three auditions the same day.......we've already done it. All this stuff is in NYC, and it's not too hard to get around. You're absolutely right that the kids should decide if they want to act or not. Ours have made that decision. Kyrian, for example, gets enormously upset with us if he doesn't get sent on auditions. Basically, we just work for him. And yesterday, by the way, he played at Carnegie Hall for the fourth year in a row in an honors recital put on by his music school. We're not making this stuff up. We don't have to.

Basically we just work for him

Do you not see what a warped situation this is? These three boys are living such a screwed up life. Lessons, practice, auditions, call backs, rejection, dejection....with the exception of Kyrian (the only one with the slightest appeal) they seem miserable.

I have four children. They have all modelled and two have been in TV commercials. WE NEVER WENT ON AUDITIONS; they were approached and signed through their looks and personality. They are adults now and never made an attempt to continue in this field. They had a very healthy touch of "celebrity" and needed no more.

My daughter took dance lessons for 8 years. One day she announced she was tired of it. We talked about it seriously and respected her decision. I saw many talented kids who were totally burned out by parental pressure.

I think the seven kids on the Dr. Phil show were chosen for the volatility of the Moms. One or two of them are attractive, none seem especially talented and I can't imagine seeking out any of them on a TV program or watching for them on a commercial. I do not see a "star" in this group.

Drop back parents, let these kid have a more normal life. Listen to some of the common sense and logic on this message board.

Good Choice

Well, I concur with the winner. I think we could see this coming.

I wish all these young people the best. I hope they can find happiness and success in whatever path they take.

Veronica, please get help before you destroy Maria. I know you expected the Dr. Phil experience to be her big break but instead it probably got the two of you black-listed with agents and talent scouts. Move on, relax, let her be a teenager without the pressure.

05/21 The Dr. Phil House: “Make My Kid a Star,” Part 3

Quote From: cmdirks

Aside from the parent's being too pushy, aside from the psychological aspect of these shows...Am I the only one who can picture those boys starring in their own show?  I could just see them on Nickelodeon or something.  Naked Brother's Band, Drake & Josh, Suite Life of Zach and Cody....Ok, so I know these shows because of the kid's in my own life....the point is, those shows are HUGE right now and those boys would be too freaking perfect for one of their own.

My teen aged daughter found them "gross".  I have seen a dozen of kids like these in little theatre groups; nothing spectacular. And their mother - who would want to deal with her!

Dr. Phil seems to have picked the kids by screening for poor parenting; not talent.

Several questions

Like many others I would like to know how Alex is doing.

Also, what happened to the other family. They were Mormon and the wife had several affairs and even gave a baby up for adoption. She was preganant agin by another  man.

Congratulations Dr. Phil!!

CPS must get involved!

She has a degree in Communications and he has a degree in BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION!!!  Doesn't appear that he learned much.

How does he rationalize the dishonesty of his "red light blocker" with his deep faith?

I think they reflect badly on homeschoolers and people with strong religious beliefs. I have many friends in both categories and they don't excuse laziness like this fruitcake.

Child Protective Services really must intervene in this situation. The grandparents are just delaying things by throwing money into this mess.

Someone should tell Dan if he loses his house, the mango tree goes too!!

Watched the SHow Again

I watched this show another time because I was so infuriated the first time!

This family DOES have electricity. If you read Dr. Phil's paragraph; he says their water and heat were turned off. They have a computer and Internet access. Dan sells his paint online and has a website. The grandparents sent an email to Janna.

I thought he had invented the paint but realized he had used the last of his Acrylic money to buy a franchise.

I admire homeschooling but I noticed the daughter was lying on the couch reading a Stephen King book. Interesting curriculum.

Did no one hear the child say "I'll be glad when we're out of this house"? They are hurting from this situation.

I hope a Social Worker gets involved - not to take the children (Janna's mother said she would die of she lost the kids) but to work with the family and set some goals and boundaries. Janna is numb and unable to do anything but "sooth" this big baby of hers.

An example of how immature Dan is - they sold the bunk-beds but kept trampolines!!

They must live near a fairly large city if he was able to call 10 pet stores about work. If he is getting unemployment, don't they have to prove they are searching for jobs? I used to manage a business and I would get calls from the unemployment office to verify that a person had applied for work.

I feel for the grandparents but they are enabling Dan to continue his behaviour. He is coasting on past glories. Did you notice he said his business GROSSED a million dollars. They could mean nothing. It just sounded good.

Dan, get a paying job and take care of your family. I truly believe its God's will.
