I started the Dr. Phil WLC on 1-10-05. I was a size 12 and one of my goals was to get down to a size 8. I reached that goal on 5-17-05. Another one of my goals was to lose 30 pounds. As of today, I wear between a size 6 & 7. I have lost 22 1/2 inches and lost 28 pounds. THIS PLAN WORKS! - I would like to thank Dr. Phil for writing the WLC book, but most of all I want to thank all of my board buddies for your support during these past six months. I could not have done this w/ out you all! You have been there for me through thick and thin. Changing my life style was not easy, nor losing the weight. I struggled and still do to this day. Like I said, this plan works and you can do it too!- Love -n-hugs to all, Jackie :)
Jackie!:) Congratulations!  Your journey is inspirational ! :)  Remember that we are still here for you as you continue to keep the weight off.  Again, good for you for changing your lifestyle.  Take care! :) Bren

What are you working on this week in your wlc program? I'm not sure what I want or need to do. Do you want to pick something and we can work on it together?

Water?

More Green Tea?

Portion sizes?

30 minutes of exercise every morning ( 6 a.m. lol lol )

Niki, It sounds like you are doing something right if you are in a smaller size! :)  I don't know if you have access to your scale yet, they say that a smaller size equals 10 pounds losts, so good job! :)

As far as what I am working on this week and for a long term lifestyle change--and if you want to do it together we can-- is the 30 minutes of exercise a day, whether it is at the pool or walking around somewhere inside. (It's not at 6 am--lol lol)  We can do this together in spirit! :) Thanks for asking me! :) Take care! :) Bren

WE NEED SISTERS

A young wife sat on a sofa on ahot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother.  As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilites of life and the obligations of adulthood the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

"Don't forget your sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass.  "They'll be more important as you get older.  No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need your "Sisters".  Remember to go place with them now and then; do things with them.  And remember that "Sisters" also means your girlfriends, your daughters, and other women too.  You'll need other women.  Women always do."

"What a funny piece of advice!" the young woman thought.  "Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world?  I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup.  Surley my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!"  But she listened to her Mother.  She kept in contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year.

As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about.  As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman,

Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After over 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

                   -Time passes

                   -Life happens

                   -Distance separates

                   -Children grow up.

                   -Love waxes and wanes.

                   -Hearts break.

                   -Careers end.

                   -Jobs come and go.

                   -Parents die.

                   -Colleagues forget favors.

-Men don't call when they say they will

BUT Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.  A Sister is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley, and you have to walk it for yourself, you Sisters will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intevening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.  Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you.  Or come in and carry you out.

My sisters, sisters-in-laws, and "girlfriends", bless my life!!!!!  The world wouldn't be the same without them, and neither would I.  When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.  Nor did we know how much we would need each other.  Every day we  need each other still.  Tell the women who help make your life work that you appreciate them.  I just did.

Val, Thank you for sharing that with us.  We are your "girlfriends/sisters", too.  Take care! :) Bren

I wish you and your hubby a great time. Congrats on the smaller size!................... Shopping is fun, and I need to go and get some clothes that fit. I am having a difficult time letting go of my big clothes. I am reading Dr Phil's book, not sure what chapter to read to get me over this hump..................Alice- Glad you are back. How did you know what to do to fix the problem?............................ Christie- I think the postcard thing your doing is cool, and I bet your kids do too..... I must call it a day and get ready for another day, just as good as today. Hugs to all, Jackie

Jackie,

If I remember correctly, Dr. Phil mentions cleaning out your clothes in Key 3: No Fail Environment along with cleaning out your fatting food from your house because if your "larger clothes" are in your house, then, you might psychologically think that you can regain the weight and fit into the larger clothes again.  You can correct me if I am wrong about which Key this is in.  Hope this information is helpful ! :) Brenda

Alice

Thanks Alice, It is good to be back.  I am finding that I am doing so much better on my eating and exercise overall now that I am back on the message boards.  I could tell again when the communication was cut off for the 2 weeks what a difference the message boards and the social support from friends really do make a difference in the overall weight loss journey.  Take care!

:) Bren

I am able to post again.  If any of you are having this problem go and deleate the cookies,  temporary files and history then reboot.  I had to do this 3 times before it worked but if it does not work once try, try, and try again.

Niki I am so glad that you are getting to go on Vacation.  Where are you going?  I might say it is a well deserved vacation.  You have lost enought to need new clothes---Great JOB!!!!!.  Isn't it fun to go and now not have to go to the plus sizes but just go in and pick from the regular sizes and now find that many things are now too big rather than too tight.  I am now beginning to enjoy shopping again.  Have fun shopping.

Bren it is so good to see you again.  I missed you when you were gone for so long.

Lisa N.  I am so glad that you get to have a week at the GYM and a personal training session to see what you should be doing.  If the gym does not work out you can keep doing the exercises he recommends at home.  I have never gone to a Gym and this plan is dooable without a gym.  I think Niki has the right idea up and down stairs.  Walking also is very good for those who can do it but I know you have some limitations.  I personally enjoy swimming.   I think the 116 pounds went off in the pool.

Barbara, did I read that you had also lost?  You go girl this will work for us we just have to keep plugging along.  You always are so inspiring.  Keep up the good work.

To everyone else I can not remember what it is I wanted to say to you due to my poor memory.  I did enjoy reading your posts even though I could not post myself for so long.  I hope all are having a good day, drinking their water , and getting their IE.                  Alice

Alice, You said that you enjoy swimming which is great!  You said that 116 pounds went off in the pool.  Is that a typo?  Do you mean 16 pounds?  Either way I like that term of weight coming off in the pool.  I read on another message board of a lady who did water aerobics with a lady who had lost 250 pounds, she used to weigh over 400 pounds and now is at her goal weight by doing water aerobics.  Very inspritional ! :) Take care! :) Bren
