It is impossible to discuss curses and possessions without spirituality. I know Dr. Phil stated that he does not want to lean towards religious aspects, however this topic generates such a discussion.
I am believer of my lord and savior Jesus Christ, and I have experienced demonic forces trying to gain entity into my own being. Well, what am I saying. I am merely stating that the world we live in has a continous spiritual warfare going on. Yes, I do speak in tongues as the Holy Ghost give utterance, and no, I am not cursed and will not be possessed. What one must understand is that attacks come from the enemy of the believer, and possession can only take hold if you do not have discernment or you are completely unaware that wickedness and principalities exist. It's in the Bible.
As far as a spiritual symbols such as crosses, are concerned the only protection one has against demonic forces is to denounce the spirits in the name of Jesus, for he is the only one capable of protecting man. Trust me I tried them, and the only thing that works in covering of the Blood.
Demonic forces need a physical being to house in, in order to operate with full capacity. Working on ones mind and/or thoughts are influential and appealing to one's individual weakness, but possession will have you act un-Godly. God has divised an escape from such forces when he arose up from the grave. Why do they attack, ignorance, spiritual elevation and God's truth. Ignorance, because evil is always present trying to devour whomever, spiritual elevation trying to distroy God's plan for our salvation, and God's truth, because the devil is just mad at knowing he losing another soul.
My advice to people who have experiences with demonic forces is to find a praying spiritual group, fasting, and to hold on to God's holy promises. You have to try the spirit by the spirit. Remember- God never gives you more than you can bear. The devil needs permission to attack God's chosen people and it's only a test. Show the enemy who you believe in and trust me he will flee. You may be able to help another soul in a similar situation down life's road.
Don't ever stop praying, He'll answer you.
