nonsense

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom I taught middle school and let me tell you, teachers are not always the best role models while they are teaching! Your past has nothing to do with what kind of teacher you are in the classroom. Teachers are human beings and people tend not to acknowledge that! What we do in our personal lives is not who we are when we are teaching your children. We get ridiculed for going out on a Friday night, for things we did before we were teachers, for every mistake we could possibly make and those things that are just part of everyone else's life. I undersatand that teaching is an important job. It runs a very close second to parenting and often is parenting. If a teacher's performance is superior int eh classroom, what they do at home or have done in the past is of no relevance. Teaching is stressful enough without having to worry about every single decision you make in your personal life.

you don't have a clue

of teachers complaining about their lot in life...and I"m also tired of talk show hosts jumping on the 'teachers are great and they're underpaid'...hahaha...not where I come from.

As a working mother, who goes to work 5 days a week, sometimes up to 60 hours a week, has a limited pension plan, takes work home regularly...I recent teachers who this year have 28 professional development days planned...a week off in March, 2 weeks at Christmas, 8 weeks off in the summer and one of the best, if not the best retirement packages.

Give me a break...

That Vice Principal needs to suck it up....so what if some young foolish boys posted garbage about her....she chose that field and can't be so niave to believe that life is wonderful and all parents are great...

let me guess, her dogs name is Toto...hahaha

spoken jsut like someone not in the trenches day in and day out! I am sick of people who aren't in there saying we have the best deal. First of all, just because your child puts in an 8-3 day does not mean the teachers are. Where I taught before taking time off for my children, teachers came in before 7, worked all day, through lunch and so called :breaks" either going to meetings or helping students, grading papers, etc and stayed at least until 4:30 or 5 and then went home to do more planning and grading. Then there are meetings, committees we serve on, calls to parents where the parent is often blaming the teacher for their childs actions, and the constant stress of trying to raise other people's children who aren't doing it at home! Dont' sit there and complain about profesional development days that are scheduled to help teachers educate your children! Teachers put in their time and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity! Spend a day in the shoes of your child's teacher and then see what you think.

you have to be kidding!

Quote From: walkertiff

The way she dressed on tv does not and should not indicate what kind of person she really is. I don't think she should have gotten fired. I am sure they coud come up with some other solution. Porn was in her past. We can not pass judgement on her becuase of it. Society places alot of responsiblity on the wrong people. Yes a teacher could be a child's role model, but the parents need to sit and talk with their teens about choices. We are so worry about the environment a child is in and the influences like a teacher, but we forget to look at home as well. One teacher's mistake can not influence a whole string of girls to be sluts. Children today are being influenced and see so much from home and tv.

there was nothing wrong with the way she was dressed whether on TV or in front of a class! Good grief! I taught middle school and teachers would come in wearing more revealing clothing than that! She is being judged on her appearance simply because you know her past. What would you have her wearing?

12/06 Teacher Troubles

Quote From: jojoki

When a defendant enters a courtroom she is groomed to appeal to her audience.

That is why the men are shaved and clearned up and the women are dressed conservatively.

This woman is appealing to the world her case that she is a changed woman.

I believe it would have helped her case if she had been able to make a better choice about her dress.

This discrepancy between her new moral character and her old lifestyle would have been made more visible if she had been able make a more conservative choice of attire for the show.

Robin dresses appropriately, it would have been better if the teacher had been aware of her audience and dressed accordingly.

I do not see how you can argue this point.

If I am trying to convince the Medieval court that I am not a witch, I do not choose to wear a pointed black hat, ride a broom or carry a black cat into the courtroom.

what was she wearing that was so bad? She was wearing a skirt. the rule is when you are standing with your arms straight at your sides, the skirt needs to be longer than your fingertips. I'm sure hers was. She was not showing anything! Listen to what she said instead of worrying about what she was wearing.
