Getting along with my in-laws

Everytime I see one of these types of shows I get really disturbed. There is too much emphasis placed on what the mother-in-law does and not enough on what the actual problem is. I feel that Dr. Phil doesn't really help with that problem. I really like to watch Dr. Phil, but I just can't stand the in-law ones. By the way, my mother died when I was 2 so I have made it workable to get along with my mother-in-law.

Is your spouse too controlling?

My husband controls almost everything in our marriage. He has an accounting background and his mother is a pinch-penny which I think has carried over to him. I could understand the controlling of money if I had a habit of spending on frivolous things. I also do not over spend on groceries or clothes (which I only buy when i have an article worn out). Whenever he wants something, he goes out and gets it. I don't think this is fair; he even jumps on my for getting an iced tea at McDonalds, which right now in on sale for $.89 for an extra large. I do make my own tea at home, but there are sometimes when there isn't time and I get very thirsty if I am running erands. I am diabetic and have a number of other health problems which cause me to have many meds to take. He gets mad everytime the doctor adds something new or different. I can't control most of my health problems. I keep my A1C within the normal limits. I am trying to lose some weight, otherwise, I don't know what else to do. Do you have any suggestions? I am in counseling for this and other issues. I try discussing this with him, but he always turns the discussion into an arguement.

Is your spouse too controlling?

Quote From: jwthompson

If it's something you can do in moderation and it's OK with you and your spouse, then that's one thing.  This woman is going about it the wrong way.  If the tables were turned, would she put up with him going out and getting drunk with his friends and not coming home all night?  I highly doubt it.

My spouse controls everything to do with money. He is an accountant by nature, but now is in the ministry. I do not overspend on anything. He even complains on groceries bought, or clothes bought when what I by replaces something worn out. Does anyone have a solution for me? I do go to counseling to try to work on how to discuss money matters with him, but so far, it always ends up with me crying and him angrier.

I am glad you are going after these criminals

Too many people have fallen prey to these type of scam artists. I hope you and Robin get them and they are locked up forever.....! Thank you,
