Quote From: gwarrior6Every child is different, what they respond to is different. Their temperments are different. Yes, breast milk is best, but if she's in the 1% that CANNOT breastfeed, what is she supposed to do? Children don't always cry for physical needs-they also do it for attention. Studies show that if a child is not picked up and held everytime they demand it, they learn not to depend on people for everything they need. Not to say you would let your child "sit in poop", but if nothing's wrong and the child is crying to be held, not picking him up is not going to permanently warp him. And this is from someone with a 4 year degree (BSN), and a license.
I also agree with breast milk is best, but with my 2nd, I had to give it up really early due to a health problem I couldn't ignore. At that point, my health was more important than breastfeeding because if i didn't treat it, I would've gotten alot worse Different situations for different people.
And as for the co-sleeping, i'm glad it worked for some, but it's not always the best thing either. I toss and roll more than any other person I know and sometimes end up in different positions at night. I would've never put a baby in my bed.
I also knew a woman who knocked her newborn out of the bed while asleep and not even realize it.
What's "right' is not always right.
