THe 2nd amendment is not a verse from the Bible

Quote From: getrealtime

The 2nd Amendment give us the right to bare arms to protect ourselfs and should not be given away so lightly. A attack  and the need for guns is hard for many to understand, But what about a natural disaster like hurricane  that you are left to defend your family and home from those who take that opportunity to take what is not theirs by any means they need to do so. NO phones NO police just you  remembering that you voted to give your right away to defend and protect your family while leaving the guns still in the hands of those that will do you harm.  Some should think of this, and stop thinking that it can't happen to you.

Americans are just so darned hung up on the 2nd amendment. You would think that the right came straight from God! We have no 2nd amendment up here in Canada and thank the Lord we do not. I could not buy a gun if I wanted to. If I had anyone unstable in my environment, they could use that gun against me. If there was an intruder, he would undoubtedly overpower me and use the gun on me and my family. I would NOT want a gun anywhere near me. And I would be nervous letting my children play at other people's homes because I would worry that there were guns there. But I KNOW that no one owns guns here. Unless...they are the criminal element who has smuggled them in from guess where....the USA! Yes, you can kill someone deliberately with almost anything including your bare hands...but let's face it, in a fit of rage, a deranged person, a druggy, an angry and depressed person who is just pushed over the edge will not be as likely to kill if there are no guns in his or her immediate environment. We Canadians are not any less inclined towards violence than you Americans. That is not why there is far less crime here. I do believe though that because you have more very rich and very poor, some American people living in abject poverty are very discouraged and desperate in the US. WIth Medicare for all under Obama, as we have here in Canada, this should help. Here are the stats and the last one cannot be disputed. Guns kill! : in 2000 the United States' rate for robberies was 65 percent higher, its rate for aggravated assault was more than double and its murder rate was triple that of Canada. Throw out that ridiculous 2nd amendment and wake up and smell the gunpowder. It is coming from your own smoking guns!

GUNS + PEOPLE = Violence and Murder

Quote From: rustyblade

When was the last time you saw a gun, any gun do anything without a human at the controls. I'll keep my gun and you can keep the "Change"!
The equation is PEOPLE + GUNS = VIOLENCE. If you remove one part of the equation....GUNS....you greatly reduce the resulting violence and murder.
Here are some statistics: In 2000 the United States' rate for robberies was 65 percent higher, its rate for aggravated assault was more than double and its murder rate was triple that of Canada. We are not allowed to own guns here in Canada unless we are hunters who are licensed to own rifles. There are gun clubs but there are strict rules there for ownership of guns. For example the guns must not leave the club and they are under lock and key. There is of course a criminal element here and THEY are the ones who get their hands on guns. And where do those guns come from?....The United States of America! Thank you, America!

01/07 Omaha Mall Shooting: A Mother’s Guilt

Quote From: deeaton7

About 10 days ago, a man in the Phoenix, AZ area beat two kids with a bat. Unfortunately, they both died within  a week. So do we ban baseball bats? This man had a history of mental health problems. A month ago, a man attacked a police officer with his car. Do we ban automobiles? This man had been arrested several times for public fights. Our society has lost it's direction. We are laying blame in all the wrong places. We have been told that we need to be politically correct, but there is no such thing!!! However, there is parental responsibility, does anybody remember that? There is personal responsibility, which is guarding other peoples safety by locking up weapons so they can't be stolen, or used incorrectly. And there is public responsibility, which means Phil, you should be using the show to bring real news and real problem solving to the public.

Quick question, what would happen if we were attacked on our own soil? It's happened, remember 9-11. And if it happens again, can we rely on our military. For all of you reading this, if that would happen, I certainly would want to be able to defend myself, my family and friends, and any other American citizens.

Oh PULLEEEZE! GUns kill! Plain and simple! Why is it that you Americans are SO hung up on your RIGHTS to own guns? Here in Canada no one owns a gun...except a small minority of criminals. And they get them from guess where? The USA...thank you very much! Our murder rate is 1/3 yours..per capita. Why? Well, we are a more socialist country and so we are fairer to our poor, elderly, sick and mentally ill. We do not have the immense wealth nor the terrible poverty that there is in the USA which can account for people who are desperate and who turn to drugs more readily....and therefore more violence. But GUNS + PEOPLE = VIOLENCE! In no other country is there such a gun obsession as in the US and in no other rich country is there SO much gun violence.. I think you are so much in the thick of it and inward looking that you cannot see the forest for the trees. I do not think you could even imagine life without a gun under your pillow (so to speak). Personally, I have never even SEEN a gun in my whole life and it would make me nervous to know that neighbours and family and friends owned guns and when I went to visit or sent my children to their homes, that there were guns in their homes. I live a peaceable life without feeling threatened BECAUSE we do NOT have guns. Here are some stats: In 2000 the United States' rate for robberies was 65 percent higher, its rate for aggravated assault was more than double and its murder rate was triple that of Canada. Amen!

LEAVE NADIA ALONE!

This poor woman is basically obliged to undergo the scrutiny of the whole of North America and give up her privacy in order to get the support necessary to be allowed to keep her babies. This is the trade off. She must surrender her right to privacy in order to be able to keep her own children. I think the whole situation is highly manipulative. I do not like to hear Dr. Phil saying, "Americans NEED to know that..." I will bet that this poor, media hounded woman, trying to recover from this terribly difficult pregnancy and cope with her extremely taxing situation would like to yell, "NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW anything about me!!" Leave the poor woman ALONE! Her life will be difficult enough without the nosey, prying eyes of the world butting into HER business and HER private life. The crassness and vulgarity of it all disgusts me...and hopefully I am not the only one.

LEAVE NADIA ALONE!

In society not all is fair. It is our moral and ethical duty to care for those who for WHATEVER REASON fall between the cracks. So, we care for lung cancer patients who smoked all their lives. We treat cirrhosis of the liver patients who are alcoholics. We care for infants whose mothers are cocaine addicts. We even take care of millions of dogs that are abandoned by their irresponsible owners. Not everything in life is perfect and rosy. I am sure due to our own folly, at some time in our lives we have ALL required assistance paid by taxpayers money. It is like insurance. We buy it and when bad things happen we take advantage of it but usually we do not need it. Do we resent those who do? In this case Nadya Suleman needs our help and should receive it without having to be made into a public spectacle.
But what REALLY disgusts me is this RIGHT that we all think we have to push our noses into her business. This poor woman, recovering from a difficult labour and birth, trying to cope with her situation has the wrath of America on her head. Not only that but she is TRAPPED in this media frenzy IF she wants help. And in order to be able to keep her children she knows that she has to surrender to this barrage of public scrutiny and abuse in order to get Dr. Phil's help. It is SHAMEFUL the way this poor woman is being treated! Give her the respect and privacy and the right to live her life without this unrelenting hateful scrutiny and criticism. This is her sentence for the 'crime' of irresponsibility and of giving birth to so many multiples. Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.

LEAVE NADYA ALONE!

Quote From: woundedknee43

I can't believe what I was seeing with you interviewing Nadya.  Yes, she did have 8 babies by her own choice.  As soon as she found out about  the babies, she was on the phone taking offers for her to be interviewed.  The interviews were going for about $1.5 million each.  Dr. Phil I hope you didn't pay that much.  However, I know the babies are here and nothing can change that.  But how in the world did she get a nice home when she isn't working except for doing interviews.  She looks and acts like a loving mom in front of the cameras but behind the scenes I don't see it happening.  Now not only does she have a brand new home but you have people donating their time and money to make it better!!  She is going to have professional people around the clock not only to care for the babies but the other six children as well.  Did you ask about the nanny she already said she had to take care of the other children and the state is paying for it all!!  There are people like me who struggle every day to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads, but I guess the only way we are going to get help is if we had 14 kids.  And might I say, it was by her own choice all the way.  To me, this means she gets more money from the state for them.  I watched and rewatched your show and I don't think there was a straight answer that she gave that she didn't become wishy washy over it.  She would agree with you even if you thought her idea was wrong.  All of a sudden her answer changed to agree with you.  I do not see the thankfulness in her expression to even give her more things.  You have all these people who are donating time and money just so she can get what she wants.  I thought of all people that you would see that she is an attention getter.  The interviews that she gave other shows was just like yours.  All she wants is people to support her and do everything for her.  She see on camera she is a loving mother, but what about off camera?  The kids were surprised that mom gave them any attention at all.  The way she talked to her mother on a previous interview with you showed how disrespectful and unappreciative she was toward her own mother!!!  It makes me wonder when her spotlight is gone, just what kind of mother she will be.  She really put on a good show for you Dr. Phil and you bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Yes, she did put on a good show. She has no choice. Nadya is a dancing puppet; and she knows that she has to do just as she is told and play the role of the perfect mother or else America will hang her up from the tallest tree! One false move and she could lose her children....and she knows it.!!! This poor woman has been tormented and exploited enough. Leave her alone!
We are obliged to help those in need...yes, even if they have created their own messes. And we ALL at one time or another and in varying degrees depend on public money for our follies whether it be illness that is to some extent 'self imposed' such as lung cancer, anorexia, suicide attempts, crime in general, reckless driving, extreme sports, drug addictions, alcoholism, child and spousal abuse.. Our tax dollars are meant to help out 'the tired and the poor' of our society....and not just for those who go that way due to misfortune but also for those who made bad decisions in their lives. Nadya's case is no different than many others whose bad decisions afftect family members and society at large in one way or another. PLEASE stop judging her and LET HER BE! It is just so vulgar, crass and judgemental and downright mean spirited for America to be so hard on this unfortunate, young woman who must be desperately trying to cope.
May I remind you of the incription on your statue of liberty:
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
Please America, show compassion and just let this woman be to live her own life. And if she makes mistakes along the way, it is HER Life and HER family.

Signed: a very disgusted Canadian from a country where we take for granted that our more socialist government will take care of the sick, downtrodden, poor and unfortunate of society.

03/16 Octuplets' Mom Answers Viewer Questions

Quote From: reniemarie

EXACTLY. I am so sick of the people out here who actually do NOT see her and this situation for what it really is...a hustle! This is all Nadya Suleman's HUSTLE to GET MONEY and FAME !!!!! She makes me sick to my stomach and her poor mother! She was practically raising those 6 kids and then her crazy fame searching daughter goes and does this (and please people stop believing that she "only wanted one more child") for publicity and money and tells her mom she has a tumor? Wow. Too bad that Nadys Suleman's hustle had to include bringing 8 very sick little human beings into this world without any hope of a normal future. She should be brought up on criminal charges somehow, maybe fraud? Misappropriation of funds? Anything! This woman is a greedy, egotistic, scheming liar!!!!!
...and have you NEVER made bad decisions in your life? And if you did not but some time in the future you or a member of your family does, will you not accept help paid for by public funds? What if your father drinks and drives and hits a tree? His insurance paid by other insurance members will pay for his treatment...or should he pay out of his own pocket the hundreds of thousands of dollars of care required? What if your son takes drugs and blows his mind and needs care and rehabilitation? What is your cigarette addicted uncle needs an operation for lung cancer? What about your anorexic niece?...or your obese cousins? NONE OF US is immune from the fall out of our own bad decisions. But this does not mean that we have to be put on trial, judged and persecuted publicly for our misdeeds. Please everyone, let this poor woman be. She has a big enough burden and this horrible media frenzy and hatefulness by the American public is disgraceful and mean spirited.

Leave Nadya Alone!

Quote From: dancegirl

I applaud you, Dr. Phil for taking the steps to see that these innocent children are given a chance in life.  I respect you for it.

NOW, it is time to move on with other stories on the show.  I delete the recording every time it is another Nadya show.  I don't CARE to hear her answers to the audience questions, I just want her to take care of her 14 children, now with your generous help.

Really, enough is enough and I'd appreciate it if you would continue to do your work with her in silence.

I am in complete agreement. with you. Enough is enough! There is no doubt that this woman has made mistakes...and who among us has not? It is crass and distasteful to milk the life out of this woman for the viewing pleasure of the very angry American public. The exploitation has gone far enough. Nadya is young. She is recovering from a serious pregnancy and delivery. Do we hear her complaining or do we hear any sympathy?... Nadya is saddled with a monumental mothering job ahead of her. She needs to be left alone. But it won't happen.
When people start to gather in front of her house or hound her in the malls, she should move because it would be impossible to live in such a hostile environment where she might fear for her safety and that of her children. Move where? If she is from the Middle East that might be the solution. Or she can come to Canada. We are far more private in nature and we are very cosmopolitan and of course we have a more socialist government. She would be left in peace here, believe me. But would she be allowed in to Canada with such a large drain on the medical system. If she has Dr. Phil's sponsorship it is doable. Otherwise she and her family as immigrants would not be allowed to move to Canada to be 'a burden on the taxpayer'. We have enough taking care of our own. Nadya really has no choice but to live a life of misery imposed by the American people...unless they leave her alone. I think Dr. Phil, it is your responsibility, since you are partially the cause of Nadya's fame, to stress to the American public to leave this woman and her family in peace. Amen...I hope!
