Unfortunately I am unable to view this particular Dr Phil episode...I am the single mother of a 19yr old daughter and 18 yr old son....one thing I have learnt in being a parent is that children will only get away with what they are allowed to get away with!!
Parents determine the course / path that our children will eventually take....if you instill good values at a very early age.....even if they stray ( usually when they're testing the boundaries ), they soon learn for themselves that the (" fairy life style that these celebrities live and is constantly emblazened over the tabloids, is just that fairy land that is unsustainable in the longterm!! )
Provide other roles models like those involved in educatiuon, sports etc...get them involved in activiteis..both my children have been involved in various sports, including athletics, team sports, dance & music......all this on a single income..get involved with your children, know who their friends are, invite their friends over so that you can see them interact..you'll soon know who is a good influence and who isn't.....YES this all takes time and when you're trying to earn a living it is easy to cop out... ..and it doesnt guarantee an easy time, even children have their own personalities etc..its a constant give and take...
What you will find is that they wont look to empty vessels like the Spears, Hiltons, Lohans of this world to emulate they will see them for who they are ...NOBODIES , built up by the media to be SOMEBODY..they remind me of the kid in the class who can only make friends by being outrageous..and yes will attract that poor kid who feels unloved, un appreciated, and low self esteem ..
LIKE I SAID EVEN WHEN YOU GIVE OF YOUR TIME & LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY CHILDREN WILL PUSH OUR BUTTONS, BUT STANDING FIRM WITH YOUR FAMILY VALUES, BEING THERE TO LISTEN ETC, DISCUSS WITH THEM WHAT THEY THINK OF THE WAY THESE PEOPLE ARE BEHAVING, I'M SURE THAT OUR CHILDREN WILL SEE THESE SPOILT AND BADLY BEHAVED BRATS AS JUST THAT!!!
