I was a little taken aback by Amanda's story. It brought me back to a time when my youngest 16 year old Daughter met a boy of 18. They fell in love. What? I don't think so. I talked to her like crazy. She even became engaged. I said no way, your only 16! Well, I knew in my heart that I did not want to lose her. So I backed off. She still had some rules to follow but I couldn't push to break them up. At one point I threatened him with arrest, if he didn't leave her alone. She needed to finish school.
To make a long story short, they are still together at the age of 32 and 35. We have a great relationship to this day, but I wonder what could have happened if I had used all of my will to keep them apart. They could have run away. I'm glad we all worked it out. By the way, they are childless to this day. Which was one of my fears and now I wish they would have one.
