charges

Quote From: godsgrace1957

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID.

HELP THE KIDS FIRST NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering whey domestic violence/child abuse charges werent pressed on this woman??? the pshycological damage abused children (even if they are only hit once) suffer is huge.... if she hit him knowing cameras where there... whose to say she hasnt done worse before??  These chidlren should be removed.. sent to a family members home or to a foster home if no family can take them, until these grown ups can act like grown ups  .

these children should not be put back in the home UNTIL AND ONLY UNTL the parents straighten up.

i mean the little one is considering suicide!!!! even if these kids havent been "physically" abused they sure as heck have been put threw some emotional abuse just listening to the fights (but unfortunatly its hard prosecute emotional abuse)

thats just my two cents.

please dont confuse religion and cult or occult

this show was very eye opening and i'm glad Dr phil brought attentino to these "cults".  I've read some posts that disturb me.. one woman calling "new age" a cult.. it is not necessarily a cult.. it may be Occultish but the Occult is not a Cult.  and many religions (like jehovah's witness) are recognized religons, just like this aggressive christian cult was a form of christianity, it doesnt represent Christianity.    if something Isn't Christian, Jewish or Mulslim that doestn mean an alternative religion is a cult, tis just that a religion.  the word "cult" is very grey when it comes to peoples viewes of what a cult is.  When saying someone is involved in a cult make sure you're not just mistaking a religion you dont agree with or understand..... for a dangerous "cult".

I would really like Dr phil to do a show about cults and explain what a cult is.... not just show one and use the word cult.  for something to be a cult it must meet some "criteria" some may meet all.. I would love to see Dr phil do a show showing how cults work, the pshycological abuse these victums suffer... and warning signs that someone might be "right" for a cult, like why they join, how these cults recruit and what to do to keep your loved ones from getting invovled.

New age relgion

Quote From: cthelite

The book, "Take Back Your Life....Recovering from Cults and Abusive Relationships" by Janja Lalich and Madeleine Tobias, will answer most of the questions you mentioned in your post.

My daughter started out studying and practicing New Age Religion....to me, that's a cult, as least for her it was.  These people paint a religious "picture" but it's just a front. Once involved, the mind control starts.  There's nothing wrong with meditation (God meditated in the Garden), nothing wrong with Yoga or chanting but when it's done in a way that alters a persons identity, that's dangerous!  Read the book..you'll understand a little better on where I'm coming from.

By the way, do you have any association or loved ones involved in a cult?  I would be interested in understanding your interpretation of New Age Religion.  I might add at the time my daughter was into it, she was going to meditation group at the top of a mountain in a so called temple (which was nothing more than a decorated Moose lodge)  under the leadership of Mafu.  How do I know...I went with her because I felt I needed to get better "acquainted" with her so-called friends.  I don't know if I was lucky or not to have experienced it....strangest event I have ever seen and it lasted all night into the early morning.  There was no religious teaching going on or meditation.

a "new age relgion" to me is a relgion that is not of Christian, jewish or muslim origin (actualy thats websters definition of Pagan but Pagan seems encompas "new age").... some of them are derived from religions OLDER than those mentioned... examples of "new age" to me would be.. neo-paganism, wicca, astrue, ba'hi (sp?), shamanism, heathenism ext...

no i've never had a loved one associated with a "cult" as the definition... but i have known of people who had loved ones in certain 'christan" cults... i.e snake handlers in WV and TN... certain extremist Christian churches like the ones on the dr phil show.

I checked out a page about that book... and it sounds like a great model for what a "cult" is... i was asking the question and suggesting dr phil do the show on behalf of others... i have a pretty good knowledge of "cults" and how they are generally defined.. i've done study and have had some formal training on them.... this books seems in line with others i've read by Issac Bonnewits, and other authors who names escape me right now... the training i attended was a bit on the biased side, using only Christian sources, so some of the infomation on the OCCULT was inaccurate... but the phsyicology used to form any kind of cult whether politica, buiness or doomsday (ada religion) cults were the same.

this isnt new

I'm surprised so many people are surprised to find out kids do this... it ISNT NEW.. its been going on for DECADES... i knew kids who were "drinking" nyquil and cough syrup and mouthwash in 1990, when i was in middle school... and the parents medicince cabinet... thats always happened too, i was guilty of it as a teen (but luckily i never got hooked).  remember Whipites? they were the old fashioned versin of "dusting" (sucking the chemical stuff out of aerosol cans).  With dusting its "just air" so kids think its safe, but it's fatal.  These "tricks" are not new.. they have just evolved with new names and some new products.

I'm still glad DR phil is doing this show, I know there must be TONS of naive parents out there, and i'm gonna watch it, if i'm not busy, just to see if they're something i've never heard of.

krista should also be held responsible

once the words "they touched my pee-pee" exicted the child's mouth contact should have been cut off immediatly... the fact that krista allowed the father to continue unsupervised visits to continue means she is responsible for any subsequent abuse that happened to the girl after the first time.  she should have refused the visist and made him go to court to prove he DIDNT do it.  those who suspect abuse and do nothing to keep it from happening again, let alone send thier child back to be abused again and again are just as responsible as those who are the abusers.

the father is lying... it was obvious the way he answered the questions so slowely and had to think about it... how his wife is sitting by his side is beyond me.. i'd be straight to a divorce lawyer.  he needs to spend at least 20 years in prison.....

Not all CPS agents are bad... most are good hearted loving caring people who are in it for the right reasons.. i dont know any who would go threw all that for the tiny paycheck they get.  I know several case workers who do all they can to protect children as long as they are withen the law.

11/06 The Lie Detector

Quote From: jennifa0678

Hello there, First of all I cant say what I would of done in Kristas situation........but my father and step mom went through the whole child visitation stuff....nothing like this happened, but my brother did not want to go w/my father all the time. Well He had to , my stepmom would tell my dad that he didnt want to go , my dad would call the cops and he was forced to go because of the visitation orders. SO i do not at all think this was Kristas fault. If she wouldnt of made her go then she would of had to go to jail and then what would of happened to the little girl.  It had to of broken her heart every time she sent that little girl, but probably felt she had no option, Thank God now she definatly has an option!
was sexual abuse suspected in your case and your brothers case? did he say anything like what this little girl said?  she could have gone to cps or the police, filed a complaint and asked a judge to make the visits supervised... i'm sure any judge who was shown this tape would have agreed until they proved or disproved the sexual abuse.  She had the option way before going to dr phil.  I would have gotten an attorney and fought him... they wouldnt just throw her in jail for protecting her child, and attornery would have her out in no time if they did... she should had fought this case in the legal and judicial system.  if not i would have fled the state until i could convince someone withen the state to take it seriously.  Krista did not  do all that she could to protect her child..... and that is not excusable.. thus there lies the fault in her actions.. or rather.. her inaction.

04/25 Confronting Grandpa

Quote From: roni1975

Let me help explain why some of you think Sherri was acting weird. When you suffer sexual abuse, and especially from someone who is your father and is suppose to protect you and you have blocked it out in order to survie something called disassiation happens to you.  You feel like you are outside your body and emotions are so intense that you sometimes not only can't cry, you actually end up laughing to keep your sanity.  Her screams were something I could relate to without tears because I have done that myself over my abuse.  Her father was a typical weird child PREDATOR who will never acknowledge to anyone he did anything wrong except his God and even then it is and will be about him.  As far as Sherri leaving her son with her abuser--she hadn't remembered yet, her mother and her father had been telling her THERE was something wrong with HER.  She was trying to get her act together and no one should blame her because as the worl could see she grew up in a VERY ODD family but for her it was her NORNAL. My thoughts and my heart go out to her and her son and her husband.

my sister in law was abused sexually and physicall by her father.  My husband was sexually abused by a girl from church when he was six and when he told his sperm donor he laughed in his face like it was funny.  She is the ONLY one in the family who has anything to do with him.  It makes no sense, but what you so is correct, this is NORMAL to her.

I want so hard to blame Sheri-lynn, my mother in law and my soon to be adopted son's mother for what happened to thier children whom they didnt protect, but i cant.  I try so hard not to judge these kinds of mothers, everything in me wants to scream at and hate my sons birthmother for allowing what happened to him to happen.  He ususally watches Dr. Phil with me (he's 15) but i wouldnt let him watch this one, his situation is similar to this families situation and it took years and years of therapy to get him threw it.  With help Sherri and Parker can get threw it, i hope they utilize the help Dr phil gives them.  As for her mom, well she's brainwashed and clueless (reminds me of my mother in law and grandmother).  As for the creep, well he can burn in you know where.  It doesnt surprise me that he hides behind his Bible, so did my grandfather, my father in law and my uncles.  Out of all the abused kids i know, (not in foster care) ALL of they'er abusers be it sexual or just phsyical were DIE HARD Christians.

stop hiding behind religion!!!!

I watched this show with my husband.  I kept my 15 year old (soon to be adopted) son out of the room.  I cried, i screamed and i clapped.  This story is tragic and unfortunatly not a isolated incident.   I''ve never met my sons mother or grandfather, but threw this story i saw them, thier story, almost identical to this families.  I see the man who hurt my son, the woman who let it happen, although she herself had been tormented by this man for some reason allowed him in her life (much like my sister-in-law who allows her father to be around her son after he's sexually abused her).

In the grandfather and grandmother i saw my in-laws.  The man pious and righteous with no remorse, if not sociapathic and hiding behind his religion as WAY to many abusers do.  A woman who is naive, fearful and most likely brainwashed into thinking that she would never survive without him, afriad to leave for whatever reasons.  BOTH are responsible for what happened to Sheri-lyn and Parker.  And yes i believe sheri holds some responsibility in what happend to her son as well.

I'm so sick of hearing people hiding behind the Bible!  I'm so sick of people saying that if anyone can accept Jesus Christ into thier hearts they dont have to be responsible for thier actions.  He sat thier and said that he was ok with "God" and thats all that matters! thats crap!  He quoted scripture! that really angers me.  (I like the pastors definition of "father" very well though.)  I know of 5 adults who as children were molested by "Men of God" all of different churches and denomonations....and they are the ONLY adults i know who where molested.

Out of all the people i know of who have been abused physically (not counting foster kids) the number one "drug" that "made them" abuse was the BIBLE.    I know of at least 20 peole who were abused (not spanked but abused severly) thanks to "spare the rod, spoil the child".  When will people start leaving the Bible and religion out of it!!!!! and stop hiding behind it and using it as an excuse to control and manipulate and abuse people and to get out of CRIMES commited.

Here locally a man admitted to a priest that he sexually assulted a 4 week old baby boy... the only reason the priest went to law enforcement was because the man admitted to it in front of his wife.   If he had said that in the confessional a 941 year old cannon law would have prohibited the priest from coming forth and letting it be known the child was being raped!  and thus that child probably would have been tramatized and raped over and over again.  We need to get rid of the law that says that priests dont have to report crimes that are addmitted to them in a confessional!!!!!

i agree

Quote From: Pleasance

Is it any wonder?

If you see Al as a brother in Christ....we are all doomed!

Get a grip.

I am sick and tired, sick and tired of folks using religion of any kind to explain away, WRONG, WARPED, CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR.

IF your God forgives any and all, no matter how heinous the crime & action...then why in God's name do some Christians believe in HELL?

Sick and tired of some folks calling themselves Christians....not dealing with reality.

Sick and tired of some folks calling themselves Christians .... believing theirs is the ONLY religion that could be good for anyone.

Sick and tired of some folks calling themselves Christians....condemning other good people of religious faith who live good lives.

Sick and tired of some folks calling themselves Christians....standing on the side of the most despicable people who carry the bible or hide behind it all the while committing one criminal  injustice after another.

It's bad enough we don't have enough laws in place to punish these narcissistic, sociopath criminals, perpetrators.....without any form of religion suddenly wiping their slates clean.

Deal with reality.

This man has sexually violated at least 5 people, 5 innocents.  With that history, probably more.

Is it any wonder these crimes continue.

Is it any wonder ?

I agree with  you one thousand percent!!! i'm sick of it too! way to many people use and abuse the Bible for EVIL purposes!
