Quote From: getrealtimeSence its Lincolns B-Day and we are talking about this country great leaders and what religous influences had on them I thought I might share some more proof of said influence.
Lincoln I think we can all agree was a great man a strong man of the law. Yet God influenced him the most and based on a promise he made to God was the reason he interfered with slavery.
Lincoln Inaugural speech says how he felt about interfering with the south and slavery, He went as far as making a unchangable amendment to the consitution passing congress that the southern State that have slavery will not be messed with.
God changed this mans mind, influenced him to be greater and kinder. Lincoln wrote that slavery was a sin.
Thank God that religion does have influences in men with power our leaders.
J. As Lincoln himself once put it: "If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that."
