11/08 Cougars and Sugar Daddies

As a child of such a marriage I'll be watching. My dad was born in 1919 and my mom in 1938. He was divorced w/ 2 kids from his first marriage (both born in the 1940's) I was born 1973. I loved my dad dearly -he passed away in 1989. But, truth be told, as my parents got older they didn't have much in common.

OOPS! I think I put it in wrong LOL!  http://www.drphil.com/messageboard/topic/1250/1/

Most of the people here get on and discuss (nicely) religion and their viewpoints and learn about others

why would a 24 year old want to get engaged to a 15 year old? that's just wrong
Acorrding to the blurb up top  the 24 yr. old is w' a woman 15 years OLDER than him. That would make her 39.

My post is talking to anyone over the age of 18.

If a 40 year old man wants to date an 18 year old why should that be anyone's business?  Maybe that 18 year old is at the same maturity level as that 40 year old.  One can't really say until they know each person individually.

I have a brother whose wife is 10 years younger than he, but emotionally they compliment each other.  Then I have another brother whose wife is 11 years older than he and they compliment each other.  This kind of topic should not be anyone's business but the people involved in the relationship.

If the man logged onto sugardaddies.com then don't you think he was looking for someone to take care of, someone that would look good on his arm.  His motives are clear, but possibly in the midst of all of this he has found someone to love.  We all have our preferences when it comes to dating people, we like a certain physical attributes, personality traits, emotional connectedness and spiritual compatibility, so why is this any different?, it isn't!

Oh, I agree, my husband is older than me by 9 yrs.and we have a great deal in common. I just think if a man is 20yrs. older than his girlfriend/wife careful consideration should be taken w/the subject of kids.

For one thing, maybe the younger woman will want some and he won't and, if they both do,how  will that work as he gets older and she enters her prime. My mom ended up dragging me everywhere with her.

11/15 When Too Much is ... Too Much

Quote From: granoffive

Our son, age 49 and born deaf, holds a good job and lives in hi co-op apt. but I'm afraid he'll lose both someday.  He was evicted, a 2-year process, but we disovered it when they locked his door.  After many court appearances etc. tons of  newspapers papers were hauled out and he kept the apt. But he still has problems, made more difficult by his denial of problems until they become critical, and because he was born in 1957 when educators of the deaf believed in "the Oral Method", not allowing babies and toddlers to learn sign language!  It was he worst mistake in education of the deaf!  Most deaf people in his age group, taught orally and denied sign as young children are difficient in grammar and communication skills as a result of this.  His latest problem is losing the use of his car because his auto insurance bill got lost in the mounting pile of mail on his dinette table and insurance was cancelled for non-payment.  I'm trying to convince him that he must turn in his license plates immediately.  My husband, another procrastinator, is of no help.

I've seen this just the other day actually. A friend and I were asked to help this 80yr. old woman clean her apt. for inspection. We couldn't move! I actually had a panic attack! She keeps everything! She moved into her apt. 7 yrs. ago she said the boy who moved her in gave her a bottle of beer on that day ..... we found it in the fridge. She keeps egg cartons, milk jugs, broken styrofoam coolers. She has no room in her cupboards for dishes so she stacks them everywhere in precarious little stacks. We did what we could but there was so much more needing done. In her case, I think she's lonely and her "stuff" has become her companions.

I know what it's like to have a hubby who procrastinates. His motto... why do today what you can put off until tomorrow, after all tomorrow may never come then you'll have wasted the effort.

11/15 When Too Much is ... Too Much

Quote From: alpha12

It just occured to me that it isn't just the owner of all the cats who is at fault.  Why did the neighbors not call Animal Control before it really got out of hand?  It seems to me that fifty cats would be just as noticable as 200.  They could have pressured the lady into getting help before the animals took over the neighborhood.

Like the rest of the board I haven't seen the show but Animal Control is the only way someone should deal with people who keep animals in inhumane conditions.  Poisoning or otherwise harming the animals is cruel, and any other method can cause excessive friction.  Animal Control officers are paid to deal with problem owners, let them handle it!

I can't imagine 200 cats! I've had as many as 5 cats and 1 dog (a border collie) she likes to herd the cats....Anyway, I've found homes for 3 of the cats so, we're down to 2 an elderly white longhaired and a rescued 5mo. kitten who was nearly feral when she came here. The dog fixed that and now you'd think the kitten was hers.LOL!

I understand wanting to rescue strays but, w/ that comes RESPONSIBILITY and part of that  is giving an animal the best possible home and sometimes(sadly) it's not ours

As for poisoning etc., not only is it cruel it can endanger other animals than the ones it's meant for and is also totally IRRESPONSIBLE!!!

I say, call animal control and keep calling until they do something.

11/17 In-Laws’ Dirty Secrets Exposed

Quote From: feralcat

With so little to go on it is hard to say.  Social services should have the little girl given a complete physical exam by a pediatritian to see whether she has been molested.  What did the lie detector report come up with?  Why does the mother-in-law have these ideas of what is happening to her grandchild?  Are there others that have the same suspisions in the community?
Of course, if they find she wasn't molested... then she'll have gone thru that exam for nothing in which case I'd be all over that mother- in- law for all the trauma and trouble she's caused

Too Many Cats?
by Kathie Freeman

Cats are becoming increasingly popular as pets these days, and a big question is, how many cats should a family have? For some people, one is more than enough, others have half a dozen or more. Here are some sure- fire ways to know when you've reached your limit.

You know you have too many cats when:

Your annual cat food bill is more than the combined Gross National Product of Liechtenstein, Andorra, and San Marino.

Your last three cats are named Puss, Kitty-cat, and Hey You.

You and your spouse are sleeping on the floor because there's no more room in the bed.

The cleaning lady at the vet's office calls you by your first name.

All your windowsills are occupied.

Your neighbors forget your last name and start referring to you as "you know, the cat people".

You have to change the vacuum cleaner bags every week.

You're running out of corners to put litter boxes in.

Even your coffee table has a slip cover.

The most important crop in your garden every year is catnip.

You can't remember what a house plant looks like.

Flea collars smell good to you.

You actually understand what your cats are saying.

More than half your mail comes from Purina and Friskies.

Every year you get a personally autographed Christmas card from Morris.

Your cat door has been replaced three times.

For Mothers Day last year the kids pooled their money and bought you an electric cat brush.

You thought it was the perfect gift.

LOL! I have two cats cat 1 is furball cat 2 is Cat get down!  (her name's firefly) but she doesn't know it 'cause she's a really busy kitty  and we're saying "Cat get down" every 10 seconds or so!

Ahh... but i love them both and the dog. What can you do?

11/15 When Too Much is ... Too Much

Quote From: sliderkta

I had a grandma who owned 100 cats at any given time in her home. She was a Wiccan and her goddess was Bast, the Egyptian cat goddess. All her cats were treated as human beings because they were seen as the goddess' herself. The animals were fed, watered, and given medical care. Most had come from abusive homes (like her white cat, "Blue Eyes") and others were feral. All of the felines were unusually calm around her, but the animals became wild with anyone my grandma didn't like (like my mom's extended family).

When my family visited for Thanksgiving in 1991, I actually witness her giving the cats a Thanksgiving offering, which was a full sized, cooked turkey. Once the cats were satisfied, we were allowed to eat. Sadly, this disgusted my mom, who had been raised Catholic and later became a Fundementalist Christian. Because of my mom, my family was forced to celebrate Thanksgiving at my Uncle Leo's, where we had tamales instead of turkey.

Anyways, it's not much difference from people in India worshipping the cow.

On another note, it is a fact that some pagans and Wiccans still hide their religion for fear of discrimination, so when I see a situation like this, I can't help but wonder if this person is a neo-pagan or Wiccan.

you should check out the debateing among religions  board it's under news and current events 2nd pg.

Anyway, I've known people like that too and it is kinda like the cow worship in India. remember in India those cows run lose and do cause problems
