Not everyone benefits from being around tons of people all day. Some of us are just hermits, I mean introverts, by nature.
I was pretty outgoing, but it got tiresome being expected to do the work because as my fellow classmates said "you already know the answers", while they were sitting around goofing off.
I enjoyed the introverts, while they were normally shy around large groups of people, one on one they usally were more interesting to talk to.
