08/25 Extreme Food Obsessions

Quote From: hummelm

You sound just like me.  I had issues with exercising....I had that "all or nothing" attitude, though----Once I would get going with exercising-if something would happen and I missed exercise for one day I gave up completely.    I used to get bored with exercise and give up the whole shebang...the diet and exercise.   Since August, I have started counting my calorie intake and doing alittle exercise.    I have looked up tips on exercise and it is recommended to change up the routine alittle so as to not get bored.  I have videos and dumbbells and treadmill, etc....so I change up the exercise when it gets annoying to do.   I am now down almost 30lbs and it just motivates me to keep going.  If I do miss the exercise--I no longer give up the entire thing....This is for life and I just get back on track the next day.  Oh, and I do drink at least 64oz of water a day. I wish you the best of luck with your weightloss.  Feel free to email me if you would like a buddy.  :)

I have only been excercising for about a month. It does get boring some times, I noticed you said you were counting your calories. I went to my doctor yesterday and she wants me to do the same. YUCK Anyway do you have any ideas on food that taste good but is low in cals. I know salad and the norm. Is there anything that you really like?

Just change your food! Instead of eatin chips, eat an apple, hey, it's cheaper!! Buy some veggies, wash them, cut them and put them in a container with a napkin(to keep the veggies from going soggy) and when hungy, snack on that, drink lots and lots of water, stop the juices, one glass of juice can contain up to 130 calories!!!! If you want to loose weight, eat around 1800-2000 calories a day, breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day, try some plain oatmeal with 1 tsp of brown sugar and cinnamon, some fresh fruit and coffee, skim milk please!! a snack at 10:00 am, 100-130 calories,  make it fresh fruit with cottage cheese, for dinner, 500 calories,  have baked chiken with lots and lots of brocolie and 1 sweet potato, snack at 3:00 pm, 100-130 calories, have a flat bread with peanut butter and a banana, for supper, 500 calories, have fish, don't like fish? eat turkey, lots of veggies and some brown rice, snack before bed( at least 2 hrs before, berrys, now that's not so expensive, might even be less expense cause you eat less!! Try walking for 30 min after eating a meal, you say you drive far for school, park farther and walk the rest. Carry a bottle of water with you all the time, drink, drink, drink!!!!! Yes, you will pee more, that's just getting ride of bad stuff anyway's.

You can do, hey, I used to weigh 180 and now down to 120, I work out regularly and eat healthy 80% of the time. It's not a diet, it's a life change. Get rid of the junk you might have in your fridge or cupboards and fill it with good stuff, no excuses, I have 2 kids and a husband work 50 hrs a week, kids play sports, homework, ect........ you can do it!!!

While at home, pick up 2 cans of soup and do some exercies with that! run in place, in the stairs, that's what I did to loose the weight because I could not afford to go to the gym, I lost 45 pound just doing that and changing my eating habits.

all the luck to you, if you need any help or support just ask!!

ok I have a question when you were at 180 how many calories did you app take in a day. I just went to my doc I am 5-11, 171 pounds she told me to not have more than 1200 calories a day. YUCK.  Anyway I'm definately going to try it. She explained the whole snack thing etc. Do you have any ideas for lunch and supper. I'm only allowed 300 for lunch and 500 for supper. Any great fast food places besides subway and grilled salads? I just don't want to get bored. I have been on and off diets since I was 18 and know I get bored easy. I love carbs, fried foods, chips and I know I've got to get that out of my head.

Diet

Quote From: vikiniki

The last 5 weeks have been awful.  I cant stop eating.  Ive had no energy to exercise and Ive gained 10 pounds.  Considering I had only lost about 15 pounds to begin with, Im almost back to where I started over 4 months ago!  Im so disappointed in myself.  It all started on October 7th when my family came over for a day of fun and since then Ive eaten: 1 bag of mini Hershey bars, 1 bag of mini Milky Way bars, 1 bag of candy corn, 1 container of peanuts, 1 jar of peanut butter, and 1 bag of marshmallows.  I guess I should be happy I only gained 10 pounds!  So Im back on the wagon as of today.

My stomach isnt used to being deprived anymore and its growling now even though Ive had over 900 calories so far.  But I am not digging into that bowl of candy still sitting on my desk.  I wonder if my boss would be mad if I just threw the rest away?

I have the outfit I wore 3 New Years Eves ago hanging up and I plan on using that as motivation.  Whether it fits or not I'll have to wear it because its not in my budget to buy anything new and I'm not wearing any "fat clothes".

I have all kinds of things to watch on tape and DVDs so I dont have any excuses not to exercise.  I even enjoy reading on my elliptical, but I dont get as good a work out that way, but Ive done it.

My goal now is to lose 20 pounds by my birthday in January.  I dont think Ill make it, but Im giving it a try.  Two pounds a week isnt do-able in my opinion.  But Im determined not to let Thanksgiving and Christmas put me off track again.

Is there any safe appetite suppressant that actually works on the market?  I was flipping through stations a while back and saw Tyra Banks and a bunch of models gushing over some weight loss pill.  It was nice to know that they aren't naturally perfect, but they must have only said the name of the product once, and I missed it.

Hello, I just went to the doctor yesterday and in the last year I've gained back the 20 pounds that I lost. I did it somewhat the right way but my problem is once I lose it I slowly get off track and start eating again. I love fried foods, chips, popcorn, basically any kind of carb. The reason I'm replying is when I lost my weight last year I did weight watchers and was on the diet pill adapex(sp?) the first couple of months the diet pill didn't work but I figured out that I was just in the mind set ok I'm using a diet pill so I can eat and still lose weight not so. I then started thinking as I was eating. Ok I'm full I need to stop. I know that is common sense but before it took alot more food to get me full. I don't know if you can get a doc to give you a perscription but maybe its worth a try. I know this pill hasn't worked for everyone but it did for me. if you have more questions you can email me @ caysi-brooks-swol@hotmail.com I check my email alot more than I go to this website.

Diet

Quote From: ramair

In my opinion, unless you're hungry for the snacks, there's probably no harm in not eating them. Many nutritionists recommend eating five or six times a day, three small meals and two or three snacks, to keep blood sugar at a steady level and prevent hunger that could lead to cravings and binging. You do need at least 1200 calories a day to keep your body and brain functioing properly and your metabolism from slowing down, no matter how many times you eat. If you can get your 1200 calories from three regular meals, the snacks probably aren't necessary. Or, you could eat a little less for your meals so you'll be hungry for a snack or two. Just do whatever works best for you.
I know you posted this message quite sometime ago but I just joined this site. Anyway I just went to see my doc yesterday about my weight gain. She is a dietician(sp) anyway she wants me to focus on only eating app 1200 calories a day. You know the whole routine snacks and small meals anyway I asked her about the snack thing, I wanted to not do the snacks if I was not hungry and just eat more at lunch etc. She said the reason the snacks are so important is for our metabolism. If we want to lose weight we have to keep that going. If we focus on small snacks (100 calories) then that will keep our metab up.
