Quote From: linda12kHi,
March 31,sounds like the perfect date to quit. You mention wishing you luck, I wish you well. There is so much good information on this board, please read the archives too. It helps to know some of the phases that a person goes though in quitting. I too tried a many time to quit, but always failed. I believe it was the support of this board that helped me get past the hard times. And a really good friendship came out of it too.
I have not tried "Chantix", but have heard good results with it. Everything you can prepare yourself with to help, will make it easier. I used the Wellbrutrin, and the inhaler. And coming back and forth to the board when I would have a rough moment. Post often, it helps take some of the pressure off. I also smoked about 35 years too, and about pack and half a day. But my quit day was March 30, on that date I will celebrating 2 years smoke free. Looking back, the time flew by.

One year, eleven months, three weeks, two days, 11 hours, 3 minutes and 47 seconds. 21763 cigarettes not smoked, saving $4,211.54. Life saved: 10 weeks, 5 days, 13 hours, 35 minutes.
Linda, thanks for the (well wishes). I do hope I have better luck this time. I,ve stocked up on suckers and gum and bought some nicotine patches, plus I renewed my membership to the health club. My excuse has always been, I don't want to gain weight, So I have been lucky and lost about 12 lbs.But hopefully I don't gain much weight back, and I do quit. I always say that smoking is the only enjoyment I get out of life, so hopefully I can find something else to enjoy.
