Picture tips

Quote From: danamikayl

This picture thing is driving me Sheree. I just put the picture of my dog up to show you guys and now I can't get rid of it. I put in a new picture and when I press profile, it shows the profile picture that I want, yet on here it's still the dog. I don't know what the prob is, but if you see a different photo later, it means I solved it.

Have a great day! Another scorcher here.

If you upload a new profile picture, your computer's cache sometimes keeps the old picture in memory. Usually if you refresh the page, the new picture will appear. If not, try deleting your cache (temporary internet files found in your browser under Tools > Internet Options).

To keep an image from distorting, try and have the original image as square as possible. Rectangular pictures will be stretched to fit the square profile box. There's a tool in the photo manager to crop your picture, just click the edit button after you upload it.

and then mabye with a new one, people won't be scared away from posting.

Just my opinion.

We no longer archive boards, hopefully this board will get back on topic so all those suffering with bipolar disorder will feel welcomed and comfortable posting here. This forum provides a wonderful support system and we make every effort to keep this discussion progressing in the manner intended.

P.S. I see this board is messing up again.

We've had a few reported problems with members having difficulty posting messages to this particular board, are you experiencing this also? And if so, can you give a detailed description of what happens when you try and post? Also, are you on dialup, cable or DSL and which browser are you using? (IE, Netscape, AOL, Firefox, Opera, other) We're trying to troubleshoot the issue.

1) When you post a message you get a blank white page and have to refresh or go to main message board page and click on depression to return. Posts do show up though. 2) If you try to go to original post of person clicking on name in quote box...you get a blank white page instead of taking you to original post as previously did until technical problems yesterday. 3) If you try to click on any of your three last messages on main board page you get a blank white page. I have a Macintosh and DSL but happening on PC's too I heard. Thank you. SEA
Is it just the Depession board you have trouble with or does this happen on our other boards as well?

Depression

Quote From: beachsmile

Boards working on other two I checked: "Circle of Friends With Loving Support" and "Bipolar" board is working as well. Are you only getting complaints from the Depression board?
Yes, it appears only the Depression board is affected. We're trying to troubleshoot the problem now.

A Reminder

This is a support board for those suffering from, or have friends or family members with bipolar disorder. We ask that you please stay on topic, refrain from posting comments or innuendos specifically to offend or harass others. If you choose not to respond to any particular message, then please ignore it. This is a public board and all are welcome to post here.

As in real life, there are those we are close to, those that are merely acquaintances, and those we prefer to avoid. It is our hope that everyone will post in a kind and considerate manner on this board, not carry issues from one board to another, and keep this conversation in the manner it was intended - to offer help, support and comfort for those in need.

Thanks,

Depression

Quote From: izeofpain

Is the depression board more busy then the others?  Maybe that could be why this one is getting crazy.

Yes, this is currently our busiest board and that might have something to do with it.

RE: To all board members

Second try at this.

I am finding that if I log on and write a LONG message that it will not post, just as Lyni describes.

There must be an idle time limit on site now, much as with some ISPs.  If you are writing a long response and not navigating on the site you get logged off.  Then the message will not post and the board always asks for you to log in again.

The best way around this is to use Word or your email to write your response then copy and paste into Dr Phil.  Hope this makes sense.

Yes, as a safety measure, if you remain idle (not clicking on pages) for more than 20 minutes, the system logs you off. Typing a message is not considered being active but something you can do is every few minutes, click the preview button and then click edit to continue writing. This should keep you logged in.

That's an excellent idea to type your long messages out in another program first and then copy to the message boards posting box. While you're writing, every so often just click on a message link, or a member name, or your profile to keep you logged in.
