Quote From: tnlady622Shame on you, Dr. Phil, for placing Dog in such a position. Of course he wouldn't want to come on the show with TD Jakes, Al Sharpton, and the other African American guests. All that would have been accomplished would be for Dog to be attacked.
And I cannot believe that you would equate Dog's private conversation with his bratchild to what Don Imus did. It's a sad day when we cannot have a private conversation with our children, no matter how public our lives may or may not be, and feel comfortable speaking our minds. I seriously doubt that's the first time the young lady has ever been called "n", and it won't be the last. I'll be that Tucker has even said the "n" word before.
I think Dog was sincere with his son when he said he didn't want to lose everything they had worked so hard for over a situation where the girlfriend became offended because Dog or Beth or any of the inhabitants of Dog's PRIVATE RESIDENCE said the "n" word. He has seen what happened to Don Imus.
My theory is that I should be able to have my opiniion about anyone in the world. And if I choose to speak that opinion to someone in private, then my rights as an American should protect me.
I have read some of the postings on this subject this morning. I agree with the guy from Auburn, AL who said that black people can call each other "n" but God forbid a white man or woman do it! And I read the person who replied to that, but I don't buy the reply. If I looked at one of my black friends (I am white, by the way) and called them "n", they wouldn't think any less of me. But it's okay because they are my friend, right? So why do African Americans assume because I use the word to describe someone of Negro ethnicity that I am degrading them or likening them to an animal?
So don't be calling me Cracker, or Bitch. Do you see my point?
And my comment about the Jena 6...I saw the show and noted that TD Jakes had contributed money to the defense fund for the 6 African American men, but did he bother to send any money to the white boy who was attacked by a GANG of black men? Attacked for calling them names. Would the attack have happened if there had been an even number of white boys? I doubt it.
When I was growing up, my family didn't have a lot of money. My dad was a coal miner. And I was fat. so you can imagine the names I was called. But the thought NEVER crossed my mind to get a bunch of my poor, fat friends to go attack the girl who called me names.
We all have things that make us different. So why can we not find within ourselves the strength to accept those and not allow what other people say or think to affect us and "act out" in a way that confirms their negative opinion of us?
1.) I do NOT believe any of the GUESTS were born in AFRICA and none of them act American. The guests if they must be catagorized together are a bunch of racists against whites who do not want to work for a living thus, must scream everyone else is racist when they are more racist than any white person I have ever met.
