10/19 "I'm Gay, OK?"

Quote From: adawife

Yes God ask us to "blindly submit" to him, to have FAITH. But I forgot you don't follow all the words of the Bible so I guess you decided not to read that part.

Oh sure if "everyone were like you"....something about that just doesn't sound right. Maybe if everyone were like God and Jesus. Now that sounds A LOT better.

As for being one of God's sheep, I love it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If being a sheep means that I get ridiculed and put down for my faith, the so be it. Put me down all you want but I promise you it won't bother me one bit. As long as I know that God loves me and is always there for me and continue to feel the peace that is in my heart then I don't have anything to worry about. So say what you wish!

Faith isn't blind submission.

Don't speak for Christians, people like that give religion its bad reputation

You can guess all you want, and yes you did forget in the 2 seconds it took you to reply that I think for myself. Tough concept or what?

I'm not ridiculing you for your faith. You started the line of attack so don't play the victim.Second of all, don't play the "woe is me, I am being persectued for for my faith" You are being persecuted for being someone who refuses to think for themselves. Look at history, history is filled with horrible v ents caused by people refusing to speak for themselves because they're cowards.

You can claim moral high ground all you want, I know God loves me and doesn't have a problem with  me using my own brain. Never harming others, praying and repenting everynight for my sins, loving and honouring my family, putting myself through university, being a good friend, being a good girlfriend, respecting those of other faiths, respecting those who do not believe in God, and most of all, not looking down on anyone because they are homosexual...I know me and my gay uncle will be in heaven. "Judge not unless ye be judged. How you judge others is how the Lord will judge you" I did read that part sweetie, did you?

That's why God gave us the Bible.

We can't trust our brains.  Hitler was highly intelligent, probably a genius.

God DID refer to us as sheep actually.  At the same time, he values wisdom greatly and tells us to seek it.  THroughout the scriptures, there are hundreds of verses that mention 'wisdom' or 'wise'  - all of them in a positive light.

If people had access to the BIBLE and had read it and followed it, the Crusades would not have happened.

God did not give us the Bible! He did not write it, Jesus did not write it! It was written YEARS after Jesus died.

You may be too scared to trust your brain, but i'm not. Yeah, Hitler trusted his brain, but if all the Nazis thought for themselves instead of bending over for Hitler, 6million Jews would not have been massacred.

Nice try.Yes, God values wisdom, then why are you substituting a book for your own thinking?

Sounds like a paradox to me.

Your statement: "The bible is considered a secondary source, not a primary."

My response: "By whom and why?"

Whenever I sought insight in a matter, I first had to learn. Example, when I wanted to speak a language, I first had to learn the vocabulary and the grammar. Once you learn those things you start understanding the different cultures involved with the language you learn. Once you understand these basics, you start with educated intelligence; you start speaking speaking in your words and make sense to those who speak the language as well.

To the subject, whether the bible fits together or not:

I can prove that the Bible fits together like a puzzle. I have put it together a 1000 of times in the last 20 years. If many people didn't been able to do that, doesn't mean that it is not possible. And those of us who are able to do it, share our knowledge not with quarrelsome people. Those who want to steer up contentions rather than understand are tiresome to me. I don't deal with them very long.

The Bible explains why we have so many denominations. If you want to know, read for instance 2. Timothy 4:3,4 and 2 Corinthians 4:3, 4 (to mention just a few).

ARe you kidding me? You do not know the difference between secondary and primary sources?

Here's what we learn when we get an education:

Primary Source is a first hand account of events being discussed. i.e. If I see a car accident and I write a letter to the news about it, that is a primary source. When we use primary sources in essays we are told to look at possible biases of the author, his/her intentions, WHY the documents were written and so forth. Not just ra ra, he's right.

Secondary source are books and such. Going back to my letter example, if someone decided to talk about the car crash, they would include all the police reports, my letters and then that would create his book, a secondary source. When we read scondary sources we are taught to identify the author's thesis, the main arguments he uses to support it, and what may have been cut off when framing the issue (i.e. what the author chose to leave out because it did not contriute to his main argument)

The Bible is a secondary source. Ask any professor. Actually, in our library  it's in the BS section.
