FBI INVESTIGATING 26 COMPANIES

Quote From: loretta24

We do have commissions in congress that  were in charge of overseeing the banking industry, but for whatever reason they chose to ignore the problems with Freddie Mac/ Fannie Mae.

Unfortunately this problem is not limited to Freddie and Fannie, it is industry wide which is why we now have our government bailing out these Wall St. companies.  Lots and lots of mortgages that plain and simple should never have been written.  These things were garbage on day one but the brokers writing them didn't care.  No fiduciary responsibility at all.  Give them their fee and they were happy, didn't care about the fool who wouldn't be able to afford the house in a few years.  They bundled these loans up, sold them to investors on Wall Street who had found a new way to make lots of money fast, until the housing market came tumbling down.  Either they had never heard that song the goes "what goes up, must come down...." or they just didn't care as long as they got paid, got the house or made some big money off of it.

In addition you throw in the people that bought a house, the loan wasn't a bad one, they have good credit and they even seem to be able to afford the place.  Real estate prices climbed at an unbelievable rate and they are buying at the peak.  All of a sudden a house that appraised for $200,000 is now worth $125,000 but the bad news is that you owe $175,000.  Can't sell, can't refinance, so they hold on as long as they can.

So prices go down, rates readjust on these crappy loans and the good ones and since the property is now worth less then what they owe they can't refinance and they can't afford the new rate and off to foreclosure we go.  The mortgage broker has no job, the fool has no house and the investor are losing their shirts.

Banks are currently regulated by the government, they are supposed to be audited for loan quality and lending practices but no one was paying attention until things went bad.  No one yelling foul at the start.  And if something can potentially bring down the economy of the country I think that a whole hell of alot of people need to start paying some more attention.  I don't want everything regulated, just the things that end up costing every single one of us a lot of money.  My husband is of the mind set that the best way to end bad lending practices is to make the penalty for going outside prescribed guidelines severe enough (like prison time) that it will cure part of the problem.  Coupled with increasing education and possibly adding licensing requirements for lenders, brokers and bankers to raise the bar on the quality of those in these industries.  In most states the bar for mortgage brokers is pretty darn low and does not include much in the way of education standards.

Our elected officials have failed us. They spend more money than they take in, they care more about the people who fund their campaign than for the people they represent. I agree there is greed on wall street, but there is just as much on capital hill.
I agree with this statement, it is truly sad and it is across the board, both parties.  And regarding greed on Capital Hill, I think there is also a real greed for power as well.

THE FBI IS NOW INVESTIGATING 26 COMPANIES. IT WILL TAKE YEARS TO PROSECUTE EVERYONE. FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC HAS GIVEN A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO CONGRESS AND SENATE MEMBERS WHICH WILL BE LOOKED INTO. TIME WILL TELL WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING ON WALL STREET. BUT IT IS NOW THAT WE NEED A 170 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE RUNNING SMOOTHLY. BAILING OUT THESE COMPANIES THAT WERE NOT RUN PROPERLY. EVEN THROUGH THIS BAILOUT, ALL THE CEOS AND EXECUTIVES WILL STILL WALK AWAY WITH MILLIONS FOR RUNNING COMPANIES THAT HAVE FAILED...THIS MAKES NO SENSE. EVENTUALLY, WE WILL FIND OUT THE TRUTH BUT WHILE WE DO WE ARE STILL IN AN ECONOMIS CRISIS...SAD BUT TRUE. HOW ARE THE MIDDLE CLASS SUPPOSE TO MAKE ENDS MEET WITH INFLATION AND LOSS OF JOBS AND HOMES? DOES THE GOVERNMENT REGULATE OR DEREGULATE? HOW DOES THE BUDGET INCREASE AFFECT ALL OF US?
WE HAVE MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COUPONS FOR FREQUENTLY USED ITEMS

Quote From: stormygail

If you do just a little bit of stocking up on frequently used items when things are on sale, you'll save even more. Buying an extra roast when it's $2.50 off, or pasta on sale and with a coupon really adds up after a few weeks.
A GOOD WAY TO SAVE MORE MONEY IS TO LOOK ON THE LABEL OF YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS AND LOOK FOR A WEBSITE OR A PHONE NUMBER THAT YOU CAN USE TO GET COUPONS. I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING COUPONS FROM $1 to $5...IT IS SO WORTH IT. ANOTHER WAY OF GETTING COUPONS IS TO GO TO THE LIBRARY WHERE THEY USUALLY HAVE A BOX FILLED WITH COUPONS THAT PEOPLE CUT BUT DO NOT USE. YOU CAN DROP OFF COUPONS YOU DO NOT LIKE IN EXCHANGE FOR THE ONES YOU DO LIKE. IT IS A GREAT IDEA AND IT IS LIKE LOOKING INTO A TRWASUE CHEST.
IT DO AGREE WITH YOU ON STOCKING UP ON ITEMS YOU USE FREQUENTLY USE WHEN THEY ARE ON SALE. WITH THE PRICES INCREASING ON A WEEKLY BASIS IT DOES MAKE SENSE. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS AND HAVE SAVED A LOT OF MONEY. HOPE MY IDEAS HELP YOU TO SAVE MORE MONEY...COUPONS ARE THE WAY TO GO IN THIS ECONOMIC CRISIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McCAINS CAMPAIGN MANAGER LOBBIED FOR FREDDIE MAC

NEWSWEEK REPORTS THAT RICK DAVIS...MCCAIN'S CAMPAIGN MANAGER LOBBIED FOR FREDDIE MAC UNTIL 2006.
THEN HE GOT PAID $16,000 A MONTH FOR CONSULTING UNTIL LAST MONTH. IT WAS FOUND THAT HE WAS GETTING MONEY ALL THAT TIME BUT HE WAS NOT WORKING AS A CONSULTANT. WHY DID HE GET THIS MONEY IF HE WAS NOT WORKING???????
MCCAIN DENIES ALL THIS. IF WHAT WAS REPORTED IS TRUE, THEN IT HAS BEEN A CONFLICT OF INTEREST WITH MCCAIN...MAYBE THAT IS WHY A MONTH AGO DAVIS SEVERED HIS TIES WITH FREDDIE MAC. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO FIND OUT NEXT ABOUT THE TWO PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES THAT WE NEED TO CHOOSE FROM TO RUN OUR COUNTRY??????????

TROOPER PROBE NOW"COFDIDENTAL"

REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN OFFICIALS INDICATED THEY ARE DONE ANSWEING QUESTIONS ABOUT AN INVESTIGATION INTO ALASKA GOVERNOR PALIN'S FIRING OF HER PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSIONER CITING A REQUEST BY A STATE INVESTIGATOR. THE INVESTIGATON WILL BE COMPLETED NY OCTOBER 10TH.
ANOTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT ALASKA HAS THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF RAPES IN THE U.S. ONE OUT OF THREE WOMEN ARE RAPED . RAPE VICTIMS HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR OWN RAPE KITS. PALIN DOES NOT WANT THE TAX PAYERS TO BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR THESE RAPE KITS. HOW AWFUL THIS IS WHEN RAPE KITS ARE PAID FOR IN THE REST OF THE U.S.! WHAT'S WITH THAT POLICY?
LOTS OF INVESTIGATIONS GOING ON BEFORE WE MAKE AN IMPORTANT DECISION THAT WE HAVE TO MAKE ON ELECTION DAY AS TO WHO IS BEST TO RUN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!

PALIN STILL NOT TAKING QUESTIONS FROM THE PRESS

CAMPAIGN DID NOT ALLOW CAMERAS BUT FOR 10 MINUTES TO TAKE PICTURES YESTERDAY WHILE PALIN WAS MEETING WITH WORLD LEADERS IN NYC. THE PRESS WAS NOT ALLOWED TO ASK HER QUESTIONS. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MCCAIN WILL NOT ALLOW PALIN WHO IS A VICE PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATE TO MEET WITH THE PRESS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN CAMPAIGN HISTORY THAT SOMETHING LIKED THIS HAS BEEN DONE. IF HE PICKED HER AS HIS VP CANDIDATE AND WAS SURE OF HIS DECISION, WHY HE SHE NOT EXPOSED TO ANY ELEMENTS OTHER THAN READING FROM
A TELEPROMPTER ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL? HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO GET ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS? WE ALL NEED TO GET THE FACTS BEFORE WE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT DO THE TAXPAYERS GET FOR THE 700 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT?????

THE PLAN SEEMS TO BENEFIT THE EXORBITANTLY WEALTHY ON WALL STREET WHILE NOTHING FOR THE AVERAGE AMERICAN. WHY SHOULD WE PAY FOR THE CORRUPT COMPANIES? HOW DO WE KNOW IF THE 700 BILLION DOLLARS
WILL BE ABLE TO SOLVE THIS WALL STREET CRISIS? HOW
IS IT THAT THE 700 BILLION DOLLAR PROPOSAL WITH THE DETAILS ARE ONLY 3 PAGES LONG? THAT MEANS THAT THEY
ARE NOT GIVING A
LOT OF INFORMATION FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE.
I HOPE THE CORRECT DECISION WILL BE MADE SO THE MIDDLE WILL NOT HAVE TO STRUGGLE!
