Day 3

Well today is day 3. So far I have had a good morning. I walked on the treadmill for 35 Min's, and for breakfast I had 1/4c cottage cheese & 1/4c pineapples( the only reason I measured it was for portion size, I didn't want to eat to much. I don't believe in being anal about measuring your food). My plan for today is to eat 3 very small meals & drink water. No snacks or soda! I have softball practice tonight so I will be getting a second workout today.

Stay positive & don't give up! Have a great day everyone :)

Day 3... & doing good

Overall I would say I had a good day. My food didn't go exactly as planned, but I didn't eat in between meals & I didn't have any snacks. I ate 3 meals just as planned, but I did have a med. coke from McDonald's with my dinner. I didn't eat everything on my plate each time either. I found myself just not wanting any more and throwing it away! That's a great accomplishment for me!!!

I hope you guys & gals had a good day too, & if you struggled today just remember... Preserver, Don't give up!

Good Night :)

Day 4

Hello...

Today is going to be hard for me, but I know that big rewards will come because of it. I had breakfast @about 745am ( 1c cereal w/milk), but as I was walking on the treadmill I felt like something inside of me was telling me to fast for the rest of the day. So I am! I have confidence that I can do this because I am not alone. I'll be drinking lots of water though!

Where is everybody lately? You all haven't given up already have you? We can do this! Stay strong

See Ya :)

Day 5

Good Afternoon. Just for a recap on yesterday... Being able to go with the flow when needed is very important. Setting goals is great, but sometimes things happen that you can't control. The reason I say that is because yesterday I stated that I was going to fast the rest of the day. I did from 7:30a-5pm. It was my husband's birthday so we decided to go out instead of waiting till the weekend like we had planned. The good news is "boy was I hungry". We ordered an appetizer & I had my share along with a coke :(   but my husband and I shared a burger w/fries. I only ate 1/4 of the Burger and a few fries before I lost all interest in eating. I know that doesn't seem like much, but that is HUGE for me! yeah :)

Today is breakfast date day w/ my hubby. We didn't share but I only ate 1/2 of my nachos, then got grossed out or something & just didn't want anymore.  I did drink another coke. Man... I am having a really hard time letting go of the coke. But it's only when we eat out.  At home I drink water all day long. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR KICKING THE COKE DRINKING HABIT???

Anyway... Today has been good so far. My son has a baseball game tonight so I am a little worried about what I will eat or drink. I can do it! I just have to stick to my guns and not eat unless I'm hungry. No exceptions. You can do it too!!!

Bye :)

Day 6

Hello again...

Yesterday I mentioned that I was a little nervous eating at my son's baseball game. Well I ate around 7pm & was definitely hungry. I had a hot dog and 1/2 a bag of chips. Later I finished my bag of chips w/ a can of Pepsi. The positives to focus on is that I did wait to be hungry and didn't over do it when eating.

I am not sure about weighing myself on Monday because although I made some improvements this week I don't think it was enough to loose any weight. In the past when I don't see results right away I tend to get discouraged and give up. I AM NOT GOING TO DO THAT THIS TIME!!! I am going to focus on the positive and preserver until I get it right.  I can't afford to beat myself up any more over the not so good choices I have made in the past. I deserve better!

Today had been busy. I started my day out w/ a glass of OJ and a granola bar for breakfast. Then for lunch; having to eat out... I ate a chix sandwich at burger king w/ a med. onion rings & of course a coke.

Next week I want to focus more on making better food choices for myself. Not being anal but realizing that I have a choice. While one choice might be OK another choice could be better. Just like we give our kids the choice over a PB&J vs. a grilled cheese... I can do the same only with healthier food choices.

Well, thats it. Have a great weekend and I look forward to reading the post tomorrow.

Bye

Thank You...

Hi,

I had an awful time kicking the Coke/soda habit! I feel your pain. I started by not having it at home, but when I went out, I thought it didn't count (but it does). To at least help when I was eating out and I ordered one, I would immediately tell the waiter/waitress not to bring me any refills. If they brought it automatically and set it in front of me you better believe I was going to drink it. I did that for a long time. It would keep me from going overboard. After a while, I didn't really care if I had it or not. I still enjoy soda, but only have it occassionally and have a hard time finishing a 20 oz. bottle in one sitting.

I think your "burger" accomplishment is a big deal. Burger and fries are the 2 things I have a very difficult time with avoiding while eating out. Be proud of yourself! And good luck with kicking the soda. Don't beat yourself up if you slip. Little steps add up to big results!

It is nice to hear I'm not the only one. That's the great part about the support groups, you don't have to do it alone. Thank you for the coke advice. I am going to do that from now on. Several years ago I went through another program for losing weight w/ my Church. All they had us change was 1st/ wait to be truly hungry 2nd/ eat whatever you want but cut the portion size in half & when eating out ask for a to go container at the beginning of your meal so you can wrap it up immediately and not be tempted to overeat   3rd/ you could drink whatever you wanted w/ your meal but only water in between. I lost 35lbs following these simple guidelines. I think that we need to be careful not to focus on what we can eat vs. what we can't because when we tell ourselves we can't eat that... it causes us to want it more!

Anyway... maybe this would help someone else as well. Have a great day!

Day 8

Good Morning! I haven't been on the post since Sat. so here's a brief update... I finished out Sat. not eating dinner. I just wasn't hungry. Sunday I skipped breakfast & didn't have any snacks or anything. For lunch I had Taco Bell, I did eat too much but I was hungry when I started. Dinner I had a grilled chix sandwich & a few fries & was hungry for sure. I did have 2 cokes yesterday but I had them with my meal.

I am happy with how I did last week, baby steps right! Well I weighed this morning & I was right to think that I didn't lose anything. BUT that's OK. Today is a new day with a new weak ahead of me.

My goals for this week are:

1.Cut all my portions in half every time I eat. ( if I would normally eat a whole sandwich & chips instead I'll eat a half of sandwich and half the amount of chips)

2. To only drink soda with my meal & limit it to one glass... no refills!

3. To exercises at least 4 times this week

4. Most importantly...WAIT TO BE HUNGRY!!!

Well that's it! I want to encourage all of you to stick it out. No matter how bad you think you messed up, just know that you can start over again at that very moment!  Don't put off tomorrow what you can do today!!!

Tootles :)

facts not opinions...

Quote From: here2lose50

For the past 3 days here, it's been crazy with the music festival in town, working hard till 3:30am and sleeping all day just to do it again. So, no exercise for those days. But I couldn't bring myself to check in here until I dragged my tired body out to the backyard to do 30 minutes of aerobics today. Wow, I feel much better. Not only 'cause I got a good workout in but because I can face you all again! Ha ha!!

I've been catching up on everyone's posts and I want to say that I, too, find it a tremendous help that you're all here.

I also want to say that when talking about eating habits, looks like some of us are still eating junk food or fast food. Cutting down your nasty-food portions might seem like a victory but I'll be VERY surprised if anyone shows significant results by including Burger King, Taco Bell and french fries as part of their strategy.

Please make a plan to replace those meals with foods that you cook yourself, like a grilled chicken breast that HASN'T been injected with mayo. I've been in the restaurant and bar biz forever. You others out there in the biz know what I'm talking about. Whole wheat buns grilled on lard (for flavor). Fresh steamed veggies bathed in full-fat butter (for flavor).

I just want to wake you up to what you're really putting in to your body. Doesn't Dr. Phil say not to lie to yourself? Not to fool yourself with those un-truths? If you think it's a healthy eating habit to include only a smaller portion of something full of grease and fat, I believe you're going to continue to find yourself frustrated.

Thanks for listening. Keep up the good work!

I just wanted to comment on your opinions about fast food & junk food. I think we would all agree that fast food is not the best choice when trying to loose weight. I completely disagree with what you said about including fast food & junk food as part of your diet & still being able to loose weight. I am proof that you can reduce your portion sizes & eat anything you want & loose weight at the same time. The key is to wait to be hungry! I did this without exercise and lost 35lbs!!! I gave up at some point & went back to my old habits.... The program didn't FAIL, I did. You might want to be careful about having such strong opinions about food without having all the facts!
