won't watch

I will not be tuning in to the give away show.  I live very close to a hurting, poor area... though I myself am not by any means well off, I know I have enough and my needs are met...so it's not that I am wanting for myself,  but when I see these shows where the audience gets $10,000 worth of stuff to take home it makes me sick!! SICK!!  I think of what that much money could do just putting food on tables of starving children in my area, or ONE toy for Christmas, or a water or heat bill paid...I go to homeless shelters where people have NOTHING... I just don't think it's right to justify giving ONE person in your audience $10,000 worth of "stuff"?  I've said my piece.. that's enough... I will NOT be watching.

12/16 Dr. Phil and Robin's Classic Holidays

Yep, I'm an adult, and I feel left out when I see all the lucky people who get the "wow" presents while attending Dr. Phil and Oprah shows.
I've "acknowledged" my problem. My solution is to not tune in on the give-away days.
I don't begrudge anyone their good fortune. I just feel left out.
I agree... they are very depressing.  I know there are alot of needy people, but most of them are not sitting in an audience at a tv studio.

Yeah, just the kind of show I want to see--people getting all sorts of nice gifts while I sit home and, along with the rest of your at-home audience, just sit and watch.  Gee, what fun!

Why would anyone want to watch this?

I thought Dr. Phil had a very poor childhood... am I wrong?  I would think he would remember that and try and help with REAL needs and not a bunch of new technology stuff that is really not needed!! But, I guess not, as much as I love the DrPhil show, I am very let down by this show.  Just makes me want to say "Dr Phil, GET REAL!"

not black and white

I think one of the biggest problems is the courts want to make every situation black or white... they are not the same. There are women that collect child support that have gotten remarried with new hubby making more than real dad and possibly even the woman working... there are situations where mom could work and just won't... the last family on there was a good example. the thing is, each situation is different and should be looked upon that way.  My father in law was in a situation where his wife left him, after she had an affair, she took the only child left in the home, age 11, (the others were grown), she worked a gov. job and made more than him, she married a man that worked in the car industry making 6 figures, and yet, my stuggling FIL had to pay child support. Now, SHE had the affair, SHE chose to leave, SHE made more $ and remarried to someone who made more than both of them ever had and yet the struggling one had to pay the support... and I ask, is this fair?????
