Been there...

Not I personnally.  In 2001, I met and fell in love with a wonderful man.  He was a good father and had a good job.  He was building houses on the side.  Everything was going well.  But one day, he decided to make it big in the construction business.  His mind was set.  He was going to be a millionnaire by the time he reached 42 years old.  Well, guess what? He was getting money and spending it immediately.  He bought a pickup truck, a SUV, a boat, three ATVs.  Before you know it, he was going broke.  I tried to stop him but he would not listen.  Within a year, he was going broke and so was I.  Want to know what he did to put a stop to all of this?  He committed suicide.  Now, his two sons don't have a dad anymore and I don't have the man I though for sure I was going to spend the rest of my life with.  I've always known that money doesn't make you happy.  I may help a bit but that' not all of it.  I hope that something like this doesn't happen to someone else.

Helicopter Moms

Are those moms working moms?  It's unbelievable.  I live in Canada.  High School kids (aged 12 to 17) take the city bus to get to school.  That is the preferred choice of the school board when it comes to transportation.  I'm very happy that my kids have their bus passes and can get from point A to point B without me having to drive them all the time.  OK, I'll admit.  I was a bit scared when my 12-year old daughter started to take the bus.  But, I got used to it.  She's now 14 and it's nice to see her come and go.

As for checking on my kids all the time, I'm not like that.  I want to know where my kids are, sure.  I do ask for phone numbers, addresses, names of parents.   Once in a while, I do a spot check but that is it.  I think those helicopter moms should get a job....  or a hobby.

Salut!

Salut!
