01/15 Internet Mistakes

Quote From: vikkids

The substitute was right and wrong?????     He could possibly be right to a point that his personal business and his teaching business should be separate.    However, I believe one definite mistake was made.    As a teacher he brought his personal business into the classroom.  In this case his personal business was very questionable given the age group he disclosed his personal business.  On that note,he deserved being fired.   So he blurred the lines which was the mistake.
you hit the nail right on the head

fooling themselves

Marys mother is a huge enabler why hasn't the computer been taken away  why hasn't she been put on house arrest does mom even know who Mary hangs with.  Does it take Mary killing herself or someone else! My dad  started drinking when he was 13 he was  a recovering alcoholic in AA for over 25 years  before he passed he got  to AA the hard way he killed someone while driving drunk he did prison time for it  which he deserved. The way Mary speaks is just how a person with a drinking problem does she is just not a weekend drinker she needs it. The damage is already running her looks she looks much older then 17  that fresh youthful look she should have is gone her thinking is that  of alcoholic. As for the other girls they are head in the same direction and the comment about wanting to be like the guys that is stupid!  good grades but you have ZERO common sense. The guy in the audience said it best if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck get the point.

The Teacher overstepped his boundary's with the students promoting his band and he should have never been rehired. It may be a part time job to him but it is a full time job to us parents who want a teacher with good judgment and he proved not once but twice he doesn't have it. He promoted himself in school in a very inappropriate way, he could get a job as a waiter if he needs partime work.

If you post it on the Internet it is not private anymore and some companies  work with the government which can require polygraph tests every 5 years  they investigate you  too and talk with  neighbors these women are jeopardizing  good  job opportunities by their past behavior.

good point

Quote From: rippletank

I think a lot of people only think that nothing can happen to a child in a car while they are away for only a few seconds.  However, something happened in our area that can make you look at this another way.  What if something happens to YOU while you are running to do something, even if you are close to the car and can see it?  What if you fall and have a head injury?  What if anything happens to you and you are not able to tell anyone you have a child in a car?  People are only thinking about the child being safe for a few seconds or minutes, when in fact, that can turn into hours or days if something happens to you.  People think it can't happen, but it can.  She should not have left a child unattended.
Years ago a new mom in london went to give her child a bath she sliped hit her head and fell unconcious the baby unfortunately landed in the water and drowned that does not make the mom a bad parent at all it was a complete accident  as freakish as it was accidents do happen. I see your point but that mom had several older children that could have easily informed law inforcement or others around that their sister was in the car if the mom fell unconcious from a head injury.  If she could see the baby and she was returning to the car I did not see a problem but I was concerned that she seemed to make a habit of doing this to get mail or pick up something from a neighbor ect.  I got the impression from the way she talked that it was common practice and it is better not to risk it. I personally have never ever left my kids in a car my mother used to do that to me as a kid. I would sit for long periods in the car and the windows would barley be opened and I was not allowed to open the door I can remember being so hot and sweaty I would fall asleep from exaustion the heat was horrible. There are to many risk factors that could lead to a tradgedy. I do think law inforcment overstep their boundarys a lecture on child safety  would have been more appropriate.

09/18 Parents Falsely Accused?

Quote From: nevada_mike

Dr.Phil showcased Lynn, the woman who spent 13 years in prison, and was then released after DNA showed that she did not kill her daughter.

I have some familiarity with this case and I am disappointed that Dr. Phil did not tell the "whole story". he did not reveal the conditions in which Lynn was raising her children, nor did he discuss her character. That is unfortunate because there were other violations, besides the murder.

The program only revealed items that would tend to induce sympathy for Lynn. It is true that she did not kill her child.....but there is much more to this story. It would have been more ethical for the show to tell the whole story.

Otherwise, I am a fan of the show in almost all cases.

Thanks.

Shame on you! this is about her being innocent of  the muder of her daughter not about how you see her as a mother.  I hope she sues for being rail roaded by law inforcement.

a real teacher

Quote From: wonder_twin

As a fellow high school English teacher, I am absolutely appalled by the mother on your show who not only does Salvia herself but also buys it for her son!  I am not sure in what state she teaches, but in my state teachers are required to follow an ethical code, and her behavior is in direct violation.  Also, as a mother I am outraged.  She should be arrested for corrupting her own child.  In addition, if my child were in her class, after seeing her on Dr. Phil, I would demand for my child to be transfere to a teacher who is a positive role model, not someone who condones this behavior (not to mention this "teacher" can't even motivate her own child to pass the 9th grade three years in a row).  She is giving teachers a bad name!

You are the teacher I want teaching my child. I said the very things you just wrote  on this board out loud to myself as I was watching this show. Lets hope those in her school district saw this today and will terminate her for unethical behavior.

I fell in with the wrong kids at the age of 12 and smoked pot for two years failed 8th grade I had no one to blame  for my poor choices but myself. When I failed my parents could have cared less so I had to really look at myself  one day and say what do I want for myself,  where do I see myself in a few years.

I quit that day I I struggled to catch up  in school. I graduate highschool on time and earned a scholarship. This drug reminds me of LSD for the hallucinations and pot which takes away all a persons motivation to do anything but to get highand. Been there done that only I did not have a parent promoting the behavior. This so called mother/ teacher makes me sad and angry that she could inflict such a horrible thing upon her own child.

use common sense

The so called mother / teacher and I use those words loosely should be fired from teaching for ethical reasons. There unfortunately are no laws against  for being a dumb parent.

As for the cell phone issue if your kid is sextexting and you still want them to have a cell phone then have the texting and picture taking features removed. The phone should be for emergency contact nothing else hat's not too hard to figure out. Remind them that their future boss might goggle them and they  might not get that job, they may be flushing four years of college down the toilet.

For the  kids that are riding the roller coasters and passing out stop driving them to the amusement park. If they are driving themselves take the dang car away!  If they are eighteen and still choosing to do this kick their but to the curb. If they want to make those decisions then let them live on their own they won't  have much time for roller coasters as they will be to busy trying to pay the rent. This show should have be entitled the dumbing down of America

really creepy

I felt like I needed to take a shower after watching that filthy liar. The creepiness factor when he said he could just bash her head in when they were out to dinner was very telling.
