Update

HI Everyone! All of us walking wounded sounds like an outpatient  clinic.   I want to share with you my current progress. I am allowed to use a cane around the house, the walker or wheelchair when we go out. I have to wear Gussie and also an aircast on my weak left ankle-plus the lift in my right shoe , I have reduced my pain medication by a lot, and I have a little feeling in my toes on the left foot. It is great to be in the work in progress state. I am cleared for continuing PT-so God isn't finished with me yet.

We have our 49th  anniversary coming up on August 2nd, and my 70th birthday on August 3rd.  We are going out to eat on Saturday night=our usual way of celebrating our anniversary/birthday. I have bought an angel cake mix, and intend to make it for my birthday. Instead of an angel cake pan, I use three loaf pans and freeze two. We will have strawberries and cool whip on it.

I finally cracked the 170  plateau and this morning weighed in at 169.8!!!!!!!!!!! That is the lowest weight I obtained on the WLC  and hope to go even lower. My abdominal muscles are weak also, so the measurement of the waist hasn't changed. We are working on that in a limited fashion.

Hope you are all recovering, as I am ,finally.    Love to all, Laineybea

Angel cake is my very favorite. When we were kids, that cake signaled birthday. Mom made it from scratch, using 10 egg whites. None of the mixes were available then. She also made boiled frosting for coating it, then decorated it with regular butter frosting. Until it appeared at the table, you were never sure there was one. A quart of ice cream, hand packed, went with it. Our refrigerator didn't keep ice cream very well. The six of us managed(without hesitation ) to finish it that night. That was birthday, no presents, just cake and ice cream. I'd much rather have that than regular cake. I gave my kids the option of what kind of cake they wanted- one for chocolate, one for white, and one for angel food.   Ah, memories/.

    Thank you for your wishes-Laineybea

Happy birthday to a fellow Leo. Roar like a lion, and celebrate both your birthday and goal weight. It gives the rest of us inspiration to keep plugging along. I still have another 15 pounds I want to lose, since the doctor measured my bones, took my age  and height, and said 155 would be a great weight for me. I am now 70 ta da!    So I am plugging along also. It's pretty hard when exercise is limited to home stuff from the PT and doctors. Going to my second session on the PT-still progress to be made there.

      Best wishes, Laineybea

Hello

What a beautiful day here in Florida. So far, we have been extremely lucky with the storms. I know our turn is coming sometime.

I am now down to 168.4-even lower than my lowest on the previous attempt to lose weight. The funny thing is that none of it is going off my waist or hips! The therapist says that will happen eventually. I have a lot of abdominal exercises to do  and the last thing I want is bulging muscles in my waist!

I think this may be my last round of PT-this is the third session. A word to the WOWs-if you need PT, make sure that you go to a hospital based PT . Medicare is more likely to pay than if you go to a private therapy outfit. The rules changed as of  July 1st.  I had read that in one of my medicare papers, and so I chose to go back to the same hospital outpatient and so far I haven't seen any bills.

I am still unable to drive due to the heavy duty pain pills, but hope that by the time we come back from  up north I will drive again. We are going north mid October, and I have purchsed a new walker with a seat so we can do our Christmas shopping and leave it up there. We haven't seen our grandchildren in over a year!   We also hope to visit Diane and go to lunch at Flo's if it is still open. Many beachfront restaurants shut their doors come October 12th-----but we will find someplace to sit and visit.

That's about it from this corner of the world.    Blessings to all--Laineybea

A Lurker

Hi- I am guilty as charged of being a lurker. When I looked on the message board-that Beta thing was from 2005. I don't know how it could be new with that date.

Hello All-  We are finally able to make the trip north to see our children and granddaughters this coming Tuesday. We are flying ,since there is no way my back would take 3+ days of riding in a car.

For good news, I have now lost 24 pounds. I am within 11 pounds of the goal set by my doctor. It won't make me skinny by a longshot. Since the last 10 are the hardest to lose, I am pretending that I want to lose 21 more. Can I trick my body as well? From the size of my tummy, even after a month of abdominal and back exercises, I know where the 21 could come from(lol).

At this point I am starting to wean off of the addictive drugs-so far, so good. I want to be able to drive by the time we come back. Then I can resume my volunteer activities.

We are planning to do our Christmas shopping, along with a couple of around Christmas birthdays, and wrap and leave it there -might as well have that $50 in postage to spend on gifts.

We are planning to visit Diane  and have lunch together.

I am now able to walk around the house without my cane, and have a TENS unit to use several times a day to try to stimulate the nerves. It kind of feels like pins and needles at certain points. If it will talk to that nerve in my foot and say "get going" I  will be very happy. '

We will be gone three weeks, and will write when we return in November.  Laineybea
