I think we all know your frustration...1

Quote From: elbyovlov

I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS "IMPROVED" BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sick and tired of writing and writing, only to lose it when it is time to post. I've written two hard-worked-on posts only to lose them into cyberspace. I may try from time to time, but my posts will be short and unedited. ..................................................................................................................................  I truly am happy that this new board is exciting to those of you who are computer savvy. But I will be content to lurk most of the time. I just don't know what was so bad about the old boards that they needed to mess them up. In my lost posts, I congratulated people ad commiserated with people but, obviously, all for naught.  ................................................................................................. LINDA(maybe for the last time)

I have not tried it but will with this message to  highlight and copy. So if I do lose it I can put it back.

I always love your posts, so I hope you give this new idea a try and see if it works for you.

Happy Dance It's Saturday!

Even though I was off yesterday, yippeeee its' Saturday. I had to keep going into the office. I'm not good enough to be hired as the district supervisor but I'm the on they call!  Geez that really sounds bitter got to work on that attitude.

Bev, WOW, what a list of veggies. You are truly my hero! When you put lemon on your eggplant do you just squeeze it on or what? I obviously still have no culinary talents!

Megan, Did you get my email of the first six keys?

Good thinking of changing your thinking. My favorite polish is China REd. Don't get to polish often being a nurse and all!

Cherie, you wrote something I didn't understand. IS THERE A 20 MINUTE LIMIT TO WRITING MESSAGES!  Now, I really feel the pressure to hurry......lol  I have tried frieze and loved it!

Dee, love your idea of a weight bench in the living room. My recumbant bike is in mine.  Though I'm still not climbing on it as much as I should.

Rebecca, I love Veggie Tales!  I have the stuffed ones in my office that the kids and I play with.  I'm still amazed at the talents you have showed at posting pics!

Maureen, sorry to hear about the weight gain but boy you sure know what to do to get back on track and didn't waste any time getting to it.

Millie, Happy Anniversary! I want to hear about what you wore...better yet do a pic so we can see!

Brenda, I leave for the day and come back to "Queen Brenda"! lol. My thoughts on the aliens are that most of the people I meet are so unique and foreign to my thoughts that either I am the alien or have already been picked up and planted!

Marriage is one of the hardest jobs on the face of the earth. With that said, I now believe the key is respect. Never say anything to that person, or treat that person any different than you would your very best friend or as a matter of fact yourself!  And my other thought is that we already know that we don't see ourselves clearly, but the only person we can work on and change is ourselves.

I made so many mistakes.

Well my time is up!  Have a great day. Hope to get to mow today! Cindy

Loretta's Question for the Group

"FAVORITE STRATEGY FOR ACCOMPLISHING THE HEALTHY STUFF EACH BUSY DAY"

I'm not sure I have a favorite and do fall short many days of being healthy.  But my best one for intentional exercise is to have my walking shoes, socks, clothes right beside my bed so that when I wake up at 5 am that I jump right in them and get going.

You are so right about time. I find that the older I get the quicker it goes. I sit down for a minute and wake up the next day! lol

Thanks for sharing that with us!

Does anyone else have any thing they use to get going for the healthy day?

Hey LInda B

Quote From: elbyovlov

I just wrote a long post about veggies and now I think I lost it. Basically, what I said was that you can play around with veggies in any amount or combination you choose and come up with a delicious meal. Throw them into a steamer, soup pot, or baking dish ... add herbs, spices, beans, broths, lean meats OR anything else that strikes your fancy and you will have a culinary delight. ................................................................................................................................... I made vegetarian Moussaka last night and it contained SIX veggies. .... I made eggplant lasagna the other week and it had SEVEN veggies in it (I use long slices of eggplant to replace the pasta noodles). SIDE BENEFIT ... each of these creations last my DH and I for THREE, FOUR, or MORE meals .... less cooking is OK by me. ................................................................................................................................... "Play" with your veggies so that you don't get bored with them. Baking a cake is a chemical reaction where it would be disastrous to confuse the amount of flour with the amount of baking powder.  ... LOL .... That rule doesn't apply with soups, stews, and casseroles. Be adventuresome. Your family will either LOVE the meals you create or LEARN to love them if you stand firm (any change in cooking involves a learning curve for everyone at the table, not just for you) ... just be patient, firm, and r-e-l-a-x about food prep. ................................................................................................................................. "Boney appetite" from the not-so-perfect (and does't really care to be) chef .... LINDA B. (Let's hope this posts ... I'm not even going to try to edit out any typos ... please forgive)

What is Moussaka?   What cheese are you using for your lasagna? I am not a chef by any means but the fat free just doesn't melt or am I doing something wrong. I love eggplant lasagna, eggplant pizza......lol  Just not happy with my cheese!

Also, Cherie had said something about a 20 minute time limit and I"m wondering if it is from the time you sign on or from the time you start your message.......hopefully she will clarify it for us!

I like the idea of having things that freeze well because it is just me.....and my bossy cat but he doesn't eat people food or he doesn't eat my cooking! lol

Ok I just worked long and hard on this very nice post...I did my little cut and paste trick and only my titile posted?  What the heck??!!  Oh well.  Anyway my main point in it is reguarding Brenda and her last post..very similar to novels I have previously posted.  For some of us this is our soft place to fall.  we just don't have it at home, and I think it is great that people feel safe here.  I also have learned through my own journey that emotions are very deceptive...it says somewhere in the bible that the heart is deceptive and I really believe it means emotions in general when it says that. They can lead us in the wrong direction if we let them.  I truly believe now that emotions are not something to avoid or act on...they are something to work through. I don't think there is anything wrong with (great now I can't take off the bold setting..good grief!) laying it all out there to people you trust is a way to work through it..though I don't recommend it to E1(and this is a very trustworthy and wise group of people!).  Sometimes getting it out is the first step to dealing with it.  I mean it helps to identify it for one thing. I don't regret it...it has helped me tremendously and I thank you guys again...if you didn't encourage me here it was by email...and sometimes it was a loving kick in the butt!  Of course once it is all out there it needs to be worked through, not just talked about.  I like what you said too, Rebecca, and i agree, to elaborate i try to be humble and treat it as a 50-50 problem.  You can't make another change but you can change, with help:) Whatever the percentage is! I could have never posted in a different post to strangers about it...and I am very glad I didn't.  There are also times I picked out a few who I felt connected with and sent them a group email..and that helps, too.  Just some thoughts;)

Stacie  (gee I hope this posts..lol)

After reading the posts, the same emotions that make me eat unhealthy, bury my head in the sand,  not do my exercise, threw Dr. Phil's book across the room are the same emotions everyone feels! The causes may be different but the effects are still the same.  Part of my program is to deal with those emotions and find a healthier way to deal with them!

You do a good job at that. I appreciate all of the things that I have learned from you and others on the board.  Along with your spirit!

Suggestions for Lost posts

I went to the message board help and just thought I would share this with you!  Maybe this is why we lose messages. We either need to speed up or type elsewhere if your type of computer will allow and paste!  I must say the moderators of the boards are doing a great job.....they are so patient! Dr. PHil should give them all a raise! (if they get Psychomom back on..lol)

To clarify, it logs you off if there has been no activity for 20 minutes, you do not have to post to stay logged in. Reading messages, clicking to other topics, changing pages are all ways to remain active. As long as you are clicking something, you will remain logged in.

If you are writing a long post and are afraid you'll be logged off, before you click the post or preview button just highlight the text, copy it, and then if you do get logged off it will still be on your clipboard to paste, you'll still have it available.

Another suggestion if you have long messages, type them out in Notepad or Wordpad first and then when you finish, just copy the text to your posting window

Happy Sunday

Millie, I'm so glad to hear about your bike. What kind of seat does it have? That is the reason I haven't gone there yet........even the gel seats seem to hurt!  Thanks for offering to do the next challenge.  My weight at the first of the month was 270 and 156.  (I had gained five pounds and two inches in the last two months so hopefully I can do better.....I'm much more focused at this point) Linda, I'm going to fire up the oven and cook here in a minute the eggplant recipe  Moussaka and I'm going to do a small lasagna too to eat on for the week.  Thanks for telling me how you fix it!   You are so right about helmets.  I have a collection that kids have brought in to exchange for a new one where their handle has gone through to the core, one is cracked all the way around, and some with major cracks. So I definitely believe in helmets!  If you watch all the extreme sports those kids don't even get on a bike or board without safety gear.   Oh yeah, Millie about the cheese......I thought that same thing, this will not melt do I really want it in my body!  I think that about alot of foods and really lean toward eating only things that are natural, grown in the ground! I know from first hand experience what we feed cows to get them to produce milk or to fatten up and we wouldn't eat it but so far I haven't given up beef! Pretty much have given up dairy!  Occasionally cheese. If I started every meal thinking about where it came from, I wonder if that would work towards being a good appetite suppressant!   I hope everyone has a great day today! I am going to cook and clean house today......and watch NASCAR...I miss Elaine. I miss alot of our group that has not made it back. I too miss Jan.  But I'm very thankful for the people who are here!  Cindy

I agree about the plastic-y cheese that won't melt--it's NOT cheese!! However, there IS a fat-free cheese that is REAL cheddar cheese and it DOES melt and tastes just like the best cheddar you can buy. I bought it at Costco about a year ago for a few months and now they don't carry it any more. It was made by Cache Valley. I don't recall where their plant is and didn't save any wrapper so I could write or find out where to get it closer to home, but we've looked in EVERY local grocery store (several stores here also carry Cache Valley brand) and NOBODY carries the fat-free stuff. We've asked the store manager where they DO carry that brand to see if they can get it, and we've been told they can't get it here.

I realize that Costco doesn't ALWAYS carry certain items--just for a time and then they're gone, but we were really happy to find that cheese and I'd like to know how we can get it in our local stores. Does anybody know? In a perfect world, we'll find it in the local store when we move to Arizona. But in case the world is NOT perfect, does anybody know where we can get it? And even if we can't, maybe it's available where you live and YOU can enjoy it.

Thanks ahead of time.

Cherie

For letting us know about the 20 minute time limit and thanks for letting me know about the cheese. I wrote it down and when I go again I'll see if Walmart our only store has it!

I'm glad hubby is back safe and sound!
