Hi all~!

I have quit smoking a few times.  The last time was in Feb I quit for 3 weeks and then blew it!  I have also gained weight since I started working.  I think the reason is becasue I am now eating supper when I get hom (10pm) Now that all my kids are in school, I plan to use my gym membership and work out at least 2 times a week, but hoping for 3 ttimes a week!

I will have to look on a map to see where Settler is....I have heard of it, but being from Sask. I am not too familar with other AB towns/cities.

Cathy, enjoy your first day of school hey!  LOL My little one doesn't go today.  Wed is the big day for the kindergardens.  They split it up between three days and then they all go on Wed.

Our cat had kittens 7 weeks ago.  So this weekend was a bit sad for everyone as we put an add in the paper to give them away.  We gave away 3 allready.  We are keeping one....of course!  LOL

Well I am going to get some cleaning done since all last week my hubby was home (holidays) so of course I got nothing done!

have a good day everyone!

Hello Everyone!  Glad to hear the good news that she now has her eyes open!  One day at a time, jsut like quitting this stinking habit!  As I mentioned, I thought I may push my quit date ahead, as I hadn't been taking the welbutrin 2 times a day yet, but yes it is kicking in.  My cravings are starting to disappear!  I only had one at work last night!  Today I will cut down some more and the I will be done sooner then later!  LOL

My friend has the same problem when her step kids are thier, they won't eat anything she cooks, so she says if you don't eat it you don't get anything until the next meal.  Her hubby agreed with her so she is lucky that way.  I did the dayhome for 7 years and did the same thing, you eat it.  I mean I dont' make gross things, and I try to make things that eveyone likes so it usally went ok.  Same with my friend, she doens't make gross things....normal pototoes chicken or roast, veggies, hot dogs you know what I mean!  Nope it is not a restuarant!  My little one is picky with his food and since I have been working 4 nights a week, and being gone for supper, he is starting to eat more things, because his dad makes him try them.  It is not that they don't like them it is just lack of trying!  For awhile we thought my youngest was  a vegetarian, as he wouldn't eat meat, but he is now so that is good.  I do make a few exceptions - like when we are having tuna sandwhiches I will make some cheese ones as well.  Things like that.  There is usually something on the table everyone likes, and when they don't eat a whole lot of supper, I like to give them a bowl of cereal or something before bed!

Hopefully the relationship with the mom is good, and she understands why they might be hungry - it isnt' because you didn't feed them, it is just that they didn't like it!  It is hard raising someone's else's children I am sure there will be lots of bumps down the road!  Just hearing some of them from my friend, eveyone does things so differently and sometimes it is hard to adjust and change.

Anyhow, time to go to work!  LOL  have a good night everyone!

General Advice

Quote From: sccutie960

I am new to this so bare with me. I am 25yrs old and have a 9yrs old son. DO THE MATH... I fell in love very young, got pregnant. The father moved away when I was two months along. We lost touch right after my son was born. He has never seen his father, although I have looked and looked for him. About 3 or 4 months ago I found him. He claims he wants to see my baby. But he will call and call then nothing for three weeks now. I am very worried that he is going to break my sons heart and that is not OK with me. WHAT SHOULD I DO?????????????????????????

My son is 15 and never seen or talked to his father.  I was 15 when I had him.  I wouldn't tell your son that his daddy wants to see him until he actaully shows up.  You don't want to mess with the little boys head.  I always worry for my son, I wrote letters and phoned and tried everything in my power to get this guy to see his son, I finally stopped about 2 years ago.  I can't force him, and I have kept this away from my son, he doens't ask about him, so I am not forcing the issue.  My son has always known about his real dad and knows where the phone number is if he wants to call.  I think it is me wanting it and not my son, and I realized that and have now stopped.  All I know is in 3 years when my son is 18 he can go and see his father  and give him a couple punches cuz that is what he deserves!  LOL  I'm kidding!

The other thing is I never talked a bad word about his father, the thing wrong with that is....in my sons eyes, his dad did nothing wrong, and his dad sends money and money is good!  If I lived with my dad he would spend money on me, he must be rich.  Does that make sense???  That is what my son thought, never said it but when his dad sent me $8,000.  My son was in heaven with all these new clothes and video games!  I should of told him that he hadn't paid me in three years and that is all back pay and I had to fight really hard to get it!  I am not saying you should call him a buttplug infront of your son, but I do think they need to know the small stuff so they don't think thier dad is a god and start to hate you because you must be the reason you are not with my dad anymore........

I hope this makes a bit of sense to you, it is hard to put it in typing escepcailly when my french fries are about to burn in the oven!!!  I went through alot of councelling because of this, and if I can help you I would be glad to try!

WOrking mom

Hi all !  I was a stay at home for 7 yrs, last year I went to work part time in the evenings.  I have three boys and a hubby that I like to prepare supper for before I leave.  I leave for work at 3:45 and my hubby gets home at 430.  I don't imagine after a hard day that he wants to prepare a long big meal!  My problem is I am running out of ideas that I can make.  I always peel the pototoes and put them and the veggies in the pot, and then he cooks the meat.  Or I will make a stew type thing, or casseroles but I am running out of ideas if anyone can help!  Thanks!

Finding time to myself

For the longest time I cmplained that I never had any me time.  And the thing is you are responsible for taking that me time your self.  And the other thing that I had to remember is me time is allowed to have back ground noise!  I used to think that in order to get me time the kids had to be gone.....I am learning that is not the case....look at me know my son is watching TV and I am on the computer and I am having me time.

I also do things like talking on the phone. Tweezing my eyebrows, what ever it might be.  I am realizing I have a lot of me time.  I was just taking it for granted and not realizing I really did have it!

Maranda

I take it you are not involved in a relationship at this time?  I was lucky to find someone, I have been with him for 14 yrs. Since my baby was 1 1/2 yrs old.  My son never called this guy dad until he was 6 (when we got married) That could be the differnce as to why my son didn't ask.

I am not sure what to say?  Do you have pictures you could show him?  maybe he could call his dad?  Ask him why he doesn't come and see him?  I know you don't want to break his heart.  A couple years ago I got a letter back from my sons new wife she wrote it to both my son and I.  I never showed it to my son and I never will.  What a bag she is!  She told me that they didn't believe he was the father, and that it proves it because I slept around all the time.  I jsut about fell off my chair reading that!  And how can you write something like that and have a 14 yr old read that about his mom.  I do have to say he was my first and I didn't have a clue what I was doing or how to do it!  LOL  I did not sleep around.  If she would of said that to my face I think I would of socked her one!  Not that I am a violent person, but she was wrong to say that!

I used to tell my son that his dad lived far away and show him pictures.

I have to get the kids ready for school, and head to the gym so I will be back....TRAY

Career Goals

Quote From: tray00

I am 31 a wife and mother of three.  I went back to work a year ago, after being home for 7yrs.  I work in a Doctors office, 4 evenings a week, 6 hours a day.  I have an opportunity to work for a surgeon 2 mornings a week and then in Jan go full time while his receptionist takes a 6 month maternity leave.  Most likely she will come back.  The pay is $4 more an hour and the the hours are day time, and also it is 40 hours a week rather then 24.

I am not sure if I should take it, as after the 6 mths I won't have a job.  The doctor did say he would try to find me something with another doctors office.  Also my youngest is in kindergarden which is half days and I would be paying for daycare.  On the other hand, I would be home for supper, right now I don't get home until the kids are in bed........

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks so much!

I just wanted to say that I took the job.  I will be starting full time in Jan, and the position will end in July.  I am so scared/nervous!  I am nervous about puting my kids in a dayhome, I am nervous about not finding a job after my time is up their.

I know this will look good on my resume and possibly help me find something better in the future.  I also know that my income is going to double and then some and I can catch up on things that need to be paid.  But then after the six months and I don't find a job will I fall behind again......argh!
