"pretty" ?

Dr. Phil has outdone himself in outrageous guests! This woman who favors her "pretty" daughter is the "UGLIEST" woman I have ever had the misfortune to lay my eyes on! Where did this hideous person come from? I am so blown away by her shallowness that I didn't even yelll at the TV- which I can imagine happened alot during this show. Lady- good looks are a bonus in life- being a good person is what's important! She may be "pretty" but she is really ugly, because she is ugly and rotten on the inside. I hope she reads all these angry posts and realizes what a BAD BAD person she is. I rarely say a person is bad. SHE is bad. To not love your children is bad. Lady- get a grip.

I hope Daphne's mom can find peace

I was so sad by the story about the missing young woman Daphne. Shame on the local networks for not bringing her story to to the public. Is the media racist? They probably are at times, but more they look for "sensational" stories. The Lacy Peterson and Chandra Levey( cant remember how to spell that, sorry) cases were very sensational and very unusual. I think this is why those stories were covered nationally, not because they were white. Now, the story about the young lady who disappered in Aruba or where ever that was, I have asked myself many times what was so special about this case, as apposed to the hundreds of young woman that go missing every year. I hope that Daphne's mother can find out what happened to her daughter and  I hope today's show will make local medias take notice that they need to bring stories of young ppl in their communities to the community.

I appreciate your post

Quote From: pd_wife

I am the wife of a police officer. A white Irish Catholic police officer. You want to see racism? Ride along with him one night. You will see it against him everytime he puts his badge on.  Lets see, the blacks, oh well he just shows up at their house for no reason and harrass them, nevermind that he has received a 911 call, that he MUST respond too, even though it's his 75th call of "baby momma drama".The whites, well they want to know why the police are going after the "real criminals, although he is there because some white person is commiting the crime. The mexicans, they yell that the only reason that immigration is being called is because they (the police) don't like mexicans...no, it's because they are here ILLEGALY. I could go on and on...But you know what? We don't..He leaves me every night to protect these same people day after day after day. Let me give you a little clue though, my husband doesn't care what color you are. Neither does any other officer. They are prejudiced agains ANYBODY who can't not conform to society's rules and laws. Against anybody who uses violence against them, or their neighbors in the community they have sworn to protect. If you shoot at them and try to kill them, beleive me the color of your skin is the furthest thing from their mind. Stopping the threat is the first! Now, all you liberals go ahead and blast me for this posting..Im ready for you, I've been hearing you people for 10 yrs bash my husband and his brothers and sisters. Just like Dr. Phil did today by insinuating that all police officers just pull over blacks because they can. So, go ahead, just know, that these same people whom you curse and bash, will still be there tonight, to watch out for you, protect you, and willing to die for you regardless of the hate that they are confronted with EVERYDAY by all of you.!!!!!

I appreciate your post, and I appreciate all the police officers and their families. With this being said, it is true that most police officers are not racist, but many are. Racial profiling happens. Is racial profiling an excuse for the high number of blacks in jail? No, and I don't believe this is what Dr. Phil was saying ( I hope not ) . I think I would consider myself a "liberal" and I take offense to your stereotype of us! Just because I am a liberal doesn't mean that I think racsim is to blame for all of our social woes in this country. It is a real problem, but is just one part of the social problems. Thank you!

09/22 Are You a Racist?

Quote From: mskaren45

As a woman of color, All of us know that when a black  woman is missing, you never here about it. but about 1 minute on your local news, but if  a white woman is missing, we hear about it for 24 hours 7 days a week. local and national. i am glad that she came on the show, to let them know that we know. if a child is missing, it don't matter what race you are, the attention is the same. it's is so real. jennifer wilbanks(the runnaway bride) wasn't really missing and she made national news.

I agree that racism definetly factors in, in many cases, however, I think you may be missing something. The cases of Lacy, Chandra and even the ridiculous "runaway bride" are all very sensational stories. I think this is why they made national news. ( the "runaway bride" story was never true "news") NOW, I think it's terrible that the local news stations didn't  bring Daphne's disappearance to the community. Was racism to blame? I don't know, of course, but I would bet that it did.

daphne has been misssing for 6 years, and i don't remember hearing  or seeing this on tv.  Her mother  is still in pain. and it  is racism. no matter how you slice it. the bottom line is they all were missing. and daphne is still missing. because they search for chandra and lacy and jennifer, no one is searching for this young lady. no body but her family. Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices - just recognize them

Hundreds and hundreds of people go missing every year that are not covered nationally- ppl of all races. I don't recall the mother of Daphne saying that "noone is searching" for her daughter. This was about racially selective media coverage. The media covers stories that are sensational. If Daphne had been dating a city official, or if she was 8 mos pregnant and her husband acted odd and turned out to have a double life, it would have made news. Do you honestly think that every missing person is going to be on the national news? Of course not, but it should have been on her local news. Where I live, there are stories of all sorts of missing and murdered ppl. They don't make national news! I can recognize prejudice. I just think that comparing these cases is irrelevant- yes, all cases involve missing woman, but the surrounding circumstances are very different. We all know how the media is! I mean, that idiotic "runnaway bride" was all we heard about for weeks! She appeared on how many shows?  Some dummy gets cold feet and lies to the police and wastes time and money- THIS IS WHAT MAKES NEWS! And the sad truth is, it makes news because stupid ppl watch it. Just like sex sells, so does this kind of junk.

I live in Mass- I don't know what's going on where you live, but when ppl go missing- of any color- it is on the local news. National news is not going to report every single missing person! National news reports on stories that are sensational! The local media in Daphne's area is to blame- not national news. Comparing Daphne's disappearance to Chandra Levy or Laci Peterson is comparing apples or oranges. Sensationalism sells! The runaway bride was a ridiculous waste of time-but ppl watch this nonsense, so the media will continue to report these idiotic stories.

we love updates!!!

I am really looking forward to this show!!!! I wanted to say also, that I hope at some point this season there is an update on the family that adopted the little boy and had issues with bonding. I wish Dr. Phil would have some viewers on with that mother- she would get so blasted! I was so outraged when she complained that the child who had some developemental delays and that she didn't "bargain" for a child like that. That comment made me so sad- I am a nurse and worked for many years for severely disabled children. The parents of these children love them so much! That was one of the saddest shows I have ever seen! Of course, last weeks shows with those horrible mothers is now on that list. Bring some viewers on to confront these woman and make them realize they need to change!

09/23 What a Difference a Year Makes

Quote From: upatnight

I just have to chuckle at Dr. Phil's continued attack of co-sleeping.... unless the people involved are suffering just leave it alone... Maybe Madilyne's (I'm pretty sure I've mis-spelled this) Dad should just join the girls in night-time cuddling.  After all they do have a king-sized bed.  The wee lass is still a baby.  As you can probably tell we usually have one or more of our munchkins snuggling with us..... It ROCKS.... the only problem as far as I can see is that it makes it really hard to want to get up and start your day when you have a warm, sweet little person gently holding your arm or neck.  With the forecasted rise in the cost of heating our home this winter we  will appreciate that our little furnaces will be warming us up at no cost.     And by the by , yes, This IS working for us Dr. Phil.. teehee

BD

I don't think the father thought  that co-sleeping "rocks" and that is the problem! If he isn't happy with it, then the wife should put an end to it. If you and your spouse like it, that's great- I don't have anything against co-sleeping- but the parents have to agree on it! My best friend and her husband co-slept with their son for convience, and now ( the child is 3 ) they have great difficulty getting him to go to bed, plus they have no privacy! Co-sleeping certainly isn't for everyone, and like everything else it has it's pros and cons.

09/22 Are You a Racist?

Quote From: mskaren45

I am just saying that if you take a good look at the difference between the two,  if you look back you will see that every young lady that was missing is white, that WE know of. Do you know of black women that's missing? No because they don't give that much attention to it. your local news will tell you that she is missing and for how long. It's been going on for so long, that it gets null and void. even though we've been knowing for a long time that black people never get coverage unless they go do the dumb thing.. we never actually complain until stuff happens, like the new orleans hurricane disaster. and kanye west remarks. we always felt that Bush didn't like black people. Nobody had the guts to say it out loud, and he was angry then, but it was also true to 99.99% of black people.

I understand what you are saying, and of course you may be right. Perhaps somewhere in the US a young black woman was dating a married senator and went missing and the media didn't  cover it. Maybe somewhere a black pregnant woman went missing on Christmas Eve and her husband was living a double life and the media didn't cover it. When national media covers a disappearance, it's really not for the goal of actually helping find the missing person- it's about ratings, it's about selling newspapers. Local news are the ones that can actually help a person be found, so it's not "null and void". I honestly don't know what Kayne West said- I really try to avoid angry outburtsts. I don't think Bush hates blacks, he just doesn't really care about poor ppl of any color. But, we digress! I DO think the media is predudiced, definetly! I just don't think using those examples proves the case, that's all.

09/22 Are You a Racist?

Quote From: mskaren45

point taken!!! But i also reallize you'll really never understand where i'm coming from, and i don't expect you to, however try to imagine this, You are of color, and your child is missing, you are calling everybody to try to help you find your baby girl, but you can't get no one to help, 24 hours later another young girl is missing and she's get full media coverage same crime, but she's white, nothing but a real family trying to find thier love one. no real scoop for the media. it's just the difference between the two is color. You still won't understand, Why? because you are not black. So trying to get you to understand is really Null and Void....

I don't need to be black, and the "you don't understand you aren't black" attitude really doesn't help race relations in our society. White ppl have been made to feel that we don't have the right to have opinions on racism. Nothing could be further from the truth! We all need to talk about these issues because we all must live together in society. We don't agree, and it's not because I am white. I cannot believe the only difference you see between Daphne's disappearance and Chandra or Laci is race. You are ignoring the facts because of your anger and frustration with racism. Maybe because I'm white and don't have any personal experiences with racism I see things a little more clearly. I abhor racism and I too am frustrated and angry with our society, and I think one of the worst things about racism is that it continues to perpetuate a "wedge" between races. Blacks feel that noone understands, and whites want to be involved,  but are terrified to have a voice- embarssed by racists and don't want to be lumped in with them. My best friend's husband is black, and he and I can speak openely about racism, and it's so great. Please don't shut out ppl that are on the side of goodness. Not all whie ppl are clueless to racism. We may not personally experience it, but we understand it exists!
