Hey Ami!

First let me say that she is beautiful.  And maybe she was barking at the cat because deep down inside she really is a cat at heart and just wanted to play!!! ;)  Sorry just had to mess with you!!!  The three of us either have great taste in pet names or no imaginations.  Let's go with great taste!

Oh Kelly,

Quote From: ceders2

Just dropping by to say Hi and to wish you all a great weekend as well.

I could also use abit of advice, Stephanie is 4 and half years old now and we have been having fun getting her toilet trainned. She does go to the toilet most times to do No.1's but is still doing No.2's in her Pull Up's or undies(whichever I have on her at the time)!!

My problem today is that I have had her in undies and shorts only, for the last few days and I do ask her quite often if she needs to go to the toilet and 9 times out of 10 she says No!! Afew times I have put her on the toilet and she does a wee even though she has told me minutes ago that No she didn't need to go!!

Already today I have changed her undies and shorts atleast 2 or 3 times due to them getting wet!! I have now had enough and put her back into Pull Up's!! Cause if I keep puting her in undies too many more times there will be no more shorts or undies to put on her, if you can understand what I am trying to say here!!

So, my question here is; "What more can I do? Other than just keep her on the toilet all day,LOL!!

I know that you can't force a child to do No.2's in the toilet, but she knows how to go to the toilet to do a wee, why is she not going to the toilet and just wetting her pants? I just don't get it, cause at Pre-school the teacher has her in undies and shorts only and Stephanie has done really well in keeping her pants dry.

I guess I'm just getting alittle angry today, because she just keeps wetting her pants and I keep telling her that she has to go to the toilet to wee's not in her undies. I know that you've all been here in my shoes, so any thoughts or advice would be great and many thanks in advance!!

Take Care and Bye-for-now, Love Kelly.

I feel your pain or should I say I feel the dampness!  My advice....number one for you, take a very deep breath and know that your darling, adorable princess is messing with you!  Number two, repeat after me, she will not be in diapers forever.  I know how frustrating this is because my darling Lily drove me crazy and pulled the same stuff you are describing.  Repetition is the key, staying calm is ideal but very difficult.  The one thing that I will tell you not to do is put her in pull ups.  This is a control thing since she doesn't have a problem at school (Lily was the same), when I finally was able to be matter of fact and stopped asking her non stop, when she went in her pants I got to a point where I was able to calmly make her change herself.  She had to clean up after her mess (advice from a friend who is a pre school teacher) and within a very short time the problem solved itself.  She really did not like having to wipe up her pee.

Compare this to my Anna (middle child) who at the ripe old age of 2 decided that diapers were "yucky" and potty trained herself in two days.  Don't worry, she gave me a run for my money when she turned 3.  By the way, she most likely will be ruling the world someday so just get ready now.  Very independent, head strong, remarkable girl.  This child could debate the most intelligent adult and come out on top.  She challenges me and exhaust me all at the same time.

Kelly, this too will pass and if it helps find a nice quiet place and yell at the top of your lungs.  Really, it helps!!!

Happy Monday!

Hey all!  My it has been a while, busy with volunteer stuff, kids stuff and well, stuff.

That is so fantastic that you and Kak met at the airport Ami!  I enjoyed your view of the airport.  I've always loved the energy that seems to come with being in one, well except when we flew when the girls were real little.  I was a wreck worrying about whether they would cry the whole flight and the other passengers would throw things at us.  Never happened, they did great but boy the anticipation of it drove me nuts.  When I was a kid I lived near a small airport, mainly puddle jumpers and corporate planes.  There was a spot at the end of one of the runways where we would park and watch the planes fly overhead, great stuff.

Sorry to hear of the health woes Ami and Loki.  Sending healing, healthy thoughts your way.

JP-just curious, how's the love life????  How's the smoking going or not?

I am not so patiently waiting for spring here in the northeast.  About a week ago it was beautiful, the temps got into the 60s, I cleared the leaves off of the daffodils that were sprouting and bam, a wonderful snow/ice storm.  I would have loved it in December, January or even February but March, no way!  Got my daffys covered again and hopefully I will see them soon.

Hello to everyone I missed!!

Happy Easter

Hi all,

JP, I am so sorry that your relationship ended but I do so admire the spirit in which you have handled it.  I have no doubt that this is very much his loss.

Ami, sounds as if you did a great job raising your boys.  A strange sense of humor can be such a wonderful thing!

Kelly, sorry about the pet problems, that must have been a tough one to explain to Stephanie!  Happy Fall!

Doing well, we had a taste of spring last week but are now back to crappy April chilly showers.  Soon enough I guess.

So tonight I asked my 4 year old to tell me about a picture she had drawn earlier.  For some reason I decided to write down everything she said on the back, here it is:

"This picture is Lily when she was a princess who dropped her magic wand and it broke and also she was crying about that.  She also had a dog.  She also had a notebook and cards and she didn't have any toys.  She also was at candyland and she also had cotton candy.  She only had grapes and candy and also pudding and soda.  That's it but for one more thing, it was also Easter.  She also had no clothes and had to have a bathing suit on.  Only one more thing, she had nothing to play with just books.  She also had a play table.  She also has a cat.  She has a dog.  The dog chases the cat.  I'm done now bye!!"

I would love to climb into her mind for just a few minutes!  So if I were to analyze this she has a fear of not having any toys, wants to have nothing but candy and grapes to eat, wants a dog and to wear her bathing suit and really likes the word also.

Happy Easter all!  Trace, hope to "see" you soon.  Hi to everyone I missed, Vicki hope the wedding plans are progressing well, Neecie hope the 15th comes fast!  Take care.

Checking in

Hope everyone is having a great spring or fall (Kelly)!

First, Ami, the Derby is a must on my list of things to do before I die.  I have always joked that my preferred seating would be in an owner's box, I do like to dream.  Had the chance to sit in an owner's box seats at Saratoga, I was very pregnant, my doc was an owner and would give me the racing form instead of a magazine.  He offered me his seats but I had to turn them down, hubby had a meeting the day that the seats were available that he couldn't get out of.  Man did I give him a hard time for that one.

So you might wonder what else is on my list of things....hot air balloon ride, so what if I'm afraid of heights!  For the longest time I had ride a subway on my list but I finally did that one.  I'm also a bit claustrophobic which is why I had always avoided them in the first place.  Wasn't so bad after all.  Tour Europe and see Africa are also on the list but anyways.

Kelly, weddings are such fun!  Glad you enjoyed everyone.

Neecie, sorry about the house thing, did you check with more than one realtor?  It can be pretty surprising the different opinions you might get.  It is such a subjective thing sometimes.  We have bought and sold a few properties and there have been times when I have laughed myself silly at the price and times I've almost cried but I really would recommend getting a few opinions.

Trace, Happy Birthday!  Hope it was wonderful and full of little girl hugs and kisses.  Love the kid's book thing but my favorite all time book is a children's book "The Lorax" .  If any of you aren't familiar with it check it out.  Dr. Seuss, my all time favorite environmentalist.  Your Mia is so fortunate to have you.  Unfortunately my parents are not what you would call warm, fuzzy or doting.  They are too wrapped up in themselves to notice that the opportunity to bond with my girls is fading fast.  It used to upset me a great deal but I'm to a point where I realize that it is truly their loss.  As my husband has said to me, I should be grateful that I got out sane and reasonably normal.

JP, Kak, Vicki and anyone I missed, hope life is treating you well.

Things have been good in my world, bit of flooding last week but not too major.  We finally have something that looks like spring and we are so loving it.   Anyway going to hit the garden again.  Have a good one all and take care.

So I was reading the past posts and would think about what I wanted to say in response and now I've given up because there have been just too many.  Here goes anyway, I just know I'm going to forget a bunch of stuff.

Trace, hope that soon some things will glide smoothly along for you and yours.  Your Mia is a very fortunate girl to have such a devoted Grandma.  This may sound crazy but if her parents are intent on destroying each other it is best that they do this now when she is so young that any memories she has of the bad stuff will be hazy.  When my parents tore each other apart I was old enough to understand even though they tried to hide it from the kids.  It is amazing to me sometimes that we adults think kids are clueless when it is really us grownups that need to get the clue.  But on the plus side, my experiences helped me to become who I am and the kind of parent I am.  If me and my hubby need to argue we take it outside, get it over with and then make sure the kids see us kiss and makeup.  Good thing it doesn't happen often or the neighbors might start throwing things at us.

How wonderful that Paula will be coming for a visit, I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that party!  Please send her my regards.  Take care and I am looking forward to reading a great children's book in the not too distant future???

Ami, I was reading your post where you mentioned thyroid issues and I am currently waiting for the results of my second blood test for hypo issues.  It seems that I'm not supposed to be as tired as I am.  Not very good at being patient while waiting for test results.  Sorry to hear of the issues with Raj and money and in laws...sounds like the biggest problem might be the in laws.  Pesky buggers! Got to say that I am impressed with your resilient spirit.  Wishing you a great day tomorrow and the next and the next.

JP, Kelly, Neecie, Vicki, Roxy and anyone else that I missed, hello, hope everyone is enjoying life and the little gifts we get along the way.

I planned to write more but my natives are restless, it's shower time and they are ignoring me but I do want to share the way I started my day.  I went into my baby's (she's almost 5) room to say good morning and she had her eyes closed pretending to still be asleep.  I kissed her cheek and her forehead and saw she had a huge smile on her little face.  She then looked at me with such love and said "Mommy, your kisses feel just like sparkles and they smell like Girl Scout cookies."  Well, her favorite treat are Thin Mint cookies and she loves sparkles!  If that is the only gift I get for Mother's Day I will consider myself a very lucky woman indeed.

Have a great night and a very happy Mother's Day all.

So Ami, your "life is short, play naked" avatar made me think of the afternoon last week when my 7 year old stuck her head in the kitchen door and said that she and her sister were going to play a game of baseball.  Neither are big baseball playing kids but we have the bats and balls and t-stand just in case one of them takes an interest.  So I finish up what I was doing and head out to the yard to take a look.  There at the t-stand is my very fashionable 7 year old wearing her little wedgie pink sandals, a flower skirt that had a little swing to it and a matching top.  Her toes were even painted to match the sandals and skirt.  She was preparing to hit the ball to her  almost 5 year old sister who stood a short distance away dressed in a baseball mitt and a pair of Tinkerbell undies.  You see she didn't want to get her dress dirty.  I thought about going to get the camera but didn't want to miss a minute of the fun.  Don't know who won, I think they forgot to keep score.

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well.  Been busy with the end of year stuff for the kids.  One more week until summer vacation begins and I can't wait for a little unstructured fun.  I'm looking forward to catching fireflies and not having to worry about bed times.  I'll try and stop in again soon.  Take care all.

Hey all,

Stopping in like Kelly to say hello.  Summer has a tendency to fly by and keep me pretty busy.  My girls are doing great but starting to drive me a bit crazy.  One more month until school is back in session (not that I want to rush it but...)   I'm very lucky that in the summer we seem to split our time between the beach and a small nearby lake.  Today I have decided that even though it is beautiful outside we are not going anywhere!  Let them be bored I say!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well.  Loved reading everyone's stories.

Take Care.

Hey all,

This is the second time I'm trying to post this.  ARRGH.

Anyway,  just stopping in to say hi.  Summer has kept me pretty busy and seems to fly by.  The girls are doing great but I don't think I will be too sorry when school starts in September.  Driving me just a bit crazy but that is there job and I love them for it.

We are very lucky to be able to split our time during the summer between the beach and a small local swimming lake.  Today I decided that even though it is beautiful out I needed to stay home.  Let them be bored I say!

Congrats to Vicki and Ron on your marriage!  So exciting!

Loved reading all the great trip stories and Trace, as always, you are a master story teller.  Thank you.

Take care all.
