Good Morning

Archie and I went to breakfast with our senior group this morning....our usual Friday breakfast...1/2 waffle, strawberries, and bacon.  Try to have a light lunch before going out with our Friday night group although I usually eat light on Friday nights.  We have to go to a wedding reception later but it just an appetizer thing....can't spell that other word and can't even give spell check a hint LOL.  I went to the gym for an hour and did cardio plus abs.  It has gotten too warm outside here, too, Jane.  We're watering everything.  I picked green beans yesterday for dinner last night.  My son was leaving for a mission trip in the Black Hills and the beans would just go to waste.  I told them I would keep them picked while they're gone and my DIL can freeze them when they come home.  I called Lois last night but missed her as they were enjoying sitting outside.  Her computer has been down and her first try was not successful but she's going to try again today.  Now we have to have a report from AJ and we'll be complete again. :-)  Joy

Hi Everyone

Been a busy Saturday!  Went to the gym after breakfast and arrived home about 10:30 to find my son, DIL, and three kids painting our house.  Archie was running the tractor...the scaffolding.  i changed clothes and started to help.  Lucky I had some stuff to throw together for lunch even id they only live next door.  By 1PM the first coat was on the whole house.  They plan to do the next coat on Monday.  This afternoon  we went to a 50 th party.  Now home and relaxing a bit.  Had an E-mail from Lois.  She found the board and read the postings but had trouble posting so will send her another note.  Have a great Sunday in the church of your choice!  Joy

Good Evening

Lois...glad to see you made it!   Jane...so glad your daughter is doing so great.  We feel so much better when our kids are better no matter how old or young they are.   Ginnyjane....you have everyone making me hungry for soup.  I love to make a big kettle....no such thing as making a small one of soup....and then freeze part of it for those quick lunches.  Delores...time to get back to good eating and only dream of Mississippi Mud!  Archie had a VA appointment today 70 miles from home and it was too hot to paint so maybe the morning will be cool enough to slap that other coat on.  It was 93 at 3 PM when we came home and I went to the gym.  We had our first sweet corn for dinner tonight....same category as mud pie and baked Alaska.  It sure tasted good!  Watering the garden and flowers is a must.  I think we had 19 days in the 90"s last month.  I don't plan to golf in the morning but do hope we can paint.  Happy meal planning!  Joy

Hi?

Not too much activity yesterday or today.  We had a little rain this afternoon...1/4 inch maybe but could use a lot more.  No painting today so I went to the gym after breakfast.  Yesterday I did a mile on the treadmill and 3 miles on the bike plus abs.  Today I just did strength plus 10 minutes on the treadmill as Archie had dropped me off while he went for a haircut.  Worked on cleaning the basement the rest of the morning.  Played dominoes for 3 hours after lunch and now back to doing my own thing....checking my E-mail and the board.  Hope everyone is reading the book and eating well!  Joy

Timeout from cards

Picked cucumbers before going to aerobics this morning, came home and made refrigerator pickles.  Played a game of cards with Archie before making lunch.  Picked green beans and glads after lunch.  Thought the flowers look better in the house than falling over in the garden :-)  Played some more cards...too hot outside.  Our air has had a real workout this past month....so glad the boys put air in the house for us.  Been doing a little quilt cutting but decided to get into the computer.  Nice to read all the messages.  Ginnyjane hasn't posted for a few days but sure we will hear from hear.  Do hope AJ made out OK, too.  Talk to you tomorrow...Joy

Good Evening

Delores..so glad for you that you got back to the gym.  The other day I overheard a guy tell someone that it wasn't important how much you did but important to do what you can do.  A gal was using dumbbells that he thought were too heavy for her and explained that using lighter dumbbells properly was the thing to do.  I told him I was glad as I only use 5 lb ones.  Don't know if he was a "trainer" or not but seemed to make sense.  Well, I joined my gym today for the 3 1/2 months before I leave for Texas.  When I come back in the spring I will get a better rate which is fine with me.  My health insurance pays $20 a month as long as I go 8 times per month.  I'll have four months credit to go towards next years dues when I come back in the spring. I really do like it there...today was my 13th day...everyday but Sunday.  I came home and cleaned house and washed clothes and played cards again.  Keep up the exercise but take it slow and easy.  I do about 12 reps on the equipment.  I am getting a perm in the morning so plan to go to the gym in the afternoon for treadmill and bike.  My cousin should be coming from Anchorage before too long.  I think he's driving his mini-home.  What is gas up there?  We paid 2.299 on Tuesday.  We'll have to keep the board going!  Joy

Good Night Friends

Just checking in before turning in for the night.  Archie and I went out to eat, came home and played some dominoes while watching the Vikings pre-season game.  Our valley friends are really hot, too, Lois.  Haven't talked to my neice in Carrollton lately.  Your garden is done and ours is producing except the leaf lettuce is done.  Today is my twin granddaughters birthday and they are on the way home from the Black Hills.  My "baby" turned 46 today.  Tomorrow I go to my 55 year class reunion and might not get back to the board until Monday so you all have a good weekend.  I went to the gym today after getting a perm from my neice but will skip tomorrow.  Pleasant dreams!  Joy

HI Delores & Lois

Just came home from the Twins Birthday party.  We had Swedish pancakes....our family favorite.  We were 22.  Lois,  you get the white background when you click to answer to a posting.  I clicked happy on the "emote" and will see if the smiley face comes up.  Gas today is 2.59 at most stations.  We're having some cool weather here now...70's....low 80's...and it feels wonderful but we need rain.  I had a good time at my class reunion last night.  About 47 classmates and maybe 30 spouses.  We had 127 graduates and 32 have died....8 in the past five years.  We have a reunion every five years.  We had some from California and other states but yes there are some who live within 25 miles that don't attend.  I didn't do the gym yesterday as my DIL came over to do my nails.  Tomorrow is aerobics and then I'm getting company in the afternoon, going out for dinner, and then play cards so the day will be full.

Hi Everyone!

Ginnyjane...glad to see you got through.  I didn't have time to answer your E-mail last night so thought I'd check the board today first.  We just weren't brought up with these computers so they like to give us trouble.  Jane....nice to have you back.  I'm going to have to take my "home" computer in and have it looked at because I end up turning it off a lot to restart it.  Something is wrong but I just keep using it.  I should get it taken care of before it quits completely but it's so easy to put it off.  I golfed today so I didn't go to the gym....walking 9 holes in 80 degees is enough.  Tomorrow is aerobic class so I definitely will go.  I picked tomatoes yesterday and enjoyed BLT's.  Tonight will be sweet corn, new potaoes, and some chicken I picked up on the way home from golfing.  Enjoy your day....Joy

Hi Gang

I put my Emote:anxious as I'm anxious to see if all this exercise will kick off some weight.  I have lost a couple pounds.  I went for aerobics but that was it today as I wanted to do some visitation this afternoon.  I brought a McDonald's to my friend and I enjoyed a nice salad.  I wasn't going to get new glasses but now have decided to get a pair and see if it sharpens my vision.  The plus thing is that the guy told me I could use my old frames as they are in good shape.  Saves $100 plus!  I also have clip/on for the sun protection that were expensive and now I can still use those.  I'm taking it a little easier at the gym, too, Dolores.  Decided to just do aerobics exclusive two days a week and then do treadmill/biking three days and strength training one day as we get a lot of that in aerobics.  Gas is really high for you, Ginnyjane.  How many miles do you get? I get about 22 on everyday driving....more on long trips.  Enjoy your soup everyone!  Joy
