Greetings

Just tried to get to Dr Phil's on my laptop and discovered I could make it through yahoo.  It's late so I do not have time to read and post.  I'm taking my other computer in tomorrow.  I did read where Dolores is having problems, too.  Keep in there and we'll all return!  Joy

Hi to All

I took my computer in and was advised not to try to fix it as the expense wouldn't be worth it.  Archie told me to buy a new one but didn't know if I needed two computers as I just bought a laptop last year.  After thinking about it a couple days I decided to go ahead and get a new tower, etc., to keep my everyday things on rather than load up my laptop.  I do like using a key board better.....know I could use one on the laptop but all the extra connections!  Anyway I bought an eMachine which cost about $600 and I get $300 in rebates.  I like the new printer, too, as mine was 6 years old.  Has scanner/copier.  Purchasing the computer  took care of Saturday for me.  Sunday was a busy day but I did set my computer up.  Yesterday morning I went to aerobics and spent time on the computer in the afternoon printing out Archie's therapy records for the next 5 months.  He checks off his exercises each day.  Also found time to do a little quilting on a table topper that has to be finished before we leave on the 27th.  Today I took both my computers to have high speed Internet installed.  Doesn't cost anything as the company has their tower on our silo.  I didn't make the gym today....very unusual for me!  The past few days have been terrible for my eating habits so I can relate to you peanut butter gals.  I will certainly pray for your daughter, Dolores.  Our season will be soon changing to cold, GJ, so we are leaving.  The fall colors have been beautiful, Jane.  I have to get my flowers covered yet.  Enjoy your day, Joy

Good Morning

Just home from church and decided to check the board.  Lois, I checked on Friday and no one had posted since my last post so decided not to post anything.  So glad you had a nice restful vacation.  Friday night when we out to eat a friend of mine brought me some clothes that she no longer wears.  A couple really nice shirts that she had never worn...size 16 & 14...Korets....a really beautiful sweater that I wore to church this morning....nice pair of cordroy Koret slacks...size 12 that I wore to my all day seminar yesterday....nice pair of linen slacks, too.  She always buys extremely nice clothes but has ben skrinking due to age so I'm the fortunate one to recieve her hand me downs.  I hope she goes through her closet again :-)  I've looked for slacks a few times but never find what I want and these are the greatest!  Thursday we went to pick our grandson up from college so he could come home to go deer hunting this weekend.  Friday I went shopping with my DIL and she helped me pick out some gifts for the grandkids which completed my Christmas shopping except for one grandson.  I'm baking for my sons and DILs.  This next week carries a busy schedule but will check in to see how we're all doing.  We leave here the 27th to go to Branson but don't know what direction we will take to the valley as we are not stopping in Dallas because my niece will be gone that weekend.  Enjoy today and every day!!  Joy

Trouble found me, too

I just posted and it went the way of the wind.  Yesterday was gym, doctor for Archie, picking up kids from school activities, and back to church for a meeting so I was tired last night.  Nothing has slowed down today!  I replaced a zipper in my sons jacket this morning and that was no fun but I got it done.  This afternoon I went to get a hair cut, stopped at the gym, came home and baked 2 loaves of banana bread before putting my dinner in the oven.  After dinner I baked three loaves of cranberry bread.  All will be for Christmas for my sons and DIL. I still have 2 loaves of each to make.  I have to take a DIL to the doctor tomorrow so will take along my table topper to complete sewing the binding on.  Not going to try to write any more as I don't know if this will go this time.   Joy

Another day almost gone

Dolores....can't imagine why you can't post....odd no help has been offered.  Guess you'll just have to tag onto a message and go from there.  I took my DIL to the doctor today to have portions of her big toe nails trimmed off..  Went to the gym this afternoon, came home and playing toss away in my basement.  Had to pick up kids from organ lessons and then it was dinner time.  Baked two loaves of cranberry bread after dinner so only two loaves of banana bread to go.  We had a real hard wind today so it was no fun to be outside....driving was even a challenge.  Do pray your daughter is doing OK.  My grandson stopped the other day and talked about losing weight so I told him to read DR Phil's book which I had given to his mom.  She told me today that he has lost 25#, she has lost 10# and my son has lost 15# so I am thrilled as they all need to lose a lot more.  I'm so glad they started as a family.  I would never tell them to lose weight but makes me feel really good now to see them trying.  DIL had showed interest in Dr Phil's book when I started losing so I bought her one as a gift.   Have a good day everyone.  Joy

Hi everyone

Finally got back to the board.  Jane...sounds as though you will have a busy weekend with your deer hunters....nice time to enjoy the family.  We haven't made any definite plans for Thanksgiving.   I'm starting to organize my sewing for Texas.  I think I will ship a box of material.  I plan to take a quilt project that I have the squares done on but have to do the sashing and border.  I won't take a chance on shipping that but it won't take much room in the car.  Dolores...will continue to pray for your daughter as she goes to the doctor on the 28th.  I will be on the road at that time.  Lois...I hear gas is $1.83 in the valley.  My niece is gone the weekend we come that way so don't know if we'll come by Dennison but if we do I have your phone numver in my cell.  It's nice to post just to keep in touch with one another and be able to share our joys and challenges. Thursday I went to the gym after breakfast, came home and jumped in the shower before going to Mcdonalds to pick up lunch for myself and my gal friend in the nursing home.  We had a good visit and I brought her communion which always makes her feel good.  Then it was on to my ear doctor.   The doctor vaccumed all the gook out of my ear and gave me drops to use.  He suggested I not wear an aid in that ear for the next week as it would help dry my ear out.  So far, so good!  On the way home I stopped to vaccum our car so it will be ready for travel.  Went out to a pizza pub with one son and family, came home and took my granddaughter to church for orchestra practice, so it was 8:30 by time I got to sit down and rest. playing our nightly game of dominos.  Friday I spent the day on a quilt shop hop...6:30 - 4...stopped at 6 shops...a lot of fun...5 of us went together.  Then out to eat with our gang.  I worked covering my flowers today until it started to rain.  Have most of it done...maybe another hour of work.  Have a great Sunday worshipping in the church of your choice...Joy

A good evening to All

Glad to see you with a post again, Dolores.  Praise God for the good news about your daughter!  I imagine your days are getting shorter.  My cousin and his wife say they always enjoy curling up with a good book.  Jane, we don't have any snow yet and now they're talking 50% chance.  We have to go 70 miles to the VA tomorrow so hope it doesn't get too bad if the snow arrives.  We'll leave about 7 in the morning.  Sounds as though you came upon a good idea, Lois, to move your huge dinner outside where you can all visit together.  I know we enjoy our sons porch when we have the whole family because there's room for all to sit together.  I volunteered at church this morning but stopped at the gym on the way home....still was home by noon.  I've been making a new address book in my new computer...half way done.  I want to print my Christmas card labels before going to Texas.  It saves so much time and easier to do than hand write everything.  Emily Post might not approve but I never claimed to be Emily Post.  She hasn't walked in my shoes  :-)  Watch the food intake....so much easier said than done LOL   Joy

Hi Everyone

Can't believe I haven't posted since Monday night!  A busy week.  Everything was fine at the VA but it did fill the day.  Wednesday I went to a meeting about Part D of Medicare.  I had found info on the computer saying it would cost me $1.87 a month.  I didn't think that could be real but then an article in the news paper showed a plan at that price.  When I went to the meeting the gal said there was a $1.87 plan for people who did not need many meds and by enrolling you would protect yourself from a penalty if you wanted to move to a higher plan later.  You can change plans in November.   Lots to find out.  My insurance is going up about $40 the first of the year so I'm thinking about changing.  So much fun to grow old!!  Thursday I went to quilting at church came home and finished my Christmas baking, did some sewing and then had to go to visitation for a 61 yr old friend.  Today was my block of the month day, sewing for the last block before I packed up my machine this afternoon and some material scraps I hope to make into a quilt this winter in Texas.  We just returned home from our night out and already it's bedtime.  Thanks for the E-mails.  I just don't have time to answer each one so am letting you know via Dr Phil that I did receive them.  Do have a good weekend and let every day be a day of thanksgiving....Joy

Happy Thanksgiving to All

We spent the day with my son and family next door.  He enclosed his porch in plastic and put a heater out there which made it comfortable for the 25 or so people.  They set up one huge table and filled it with ALL the trimmings.  Had a very nice day and played games after dinner.  Ginny...that was a cute card you sent.  Jane....we had a cold windy day today....really needed a warm jacket!   Lois....I'm not sure what our shedule will be but if there's a chance we come through Dennison I will call you the night before.  We will arrive in Branson on Monday and some friends have invited us to join them at their Time/share place on Wednesday after their family leaves.  They are neighbors that we enjoy so I think we will join them/save motel money/and show them the sights.  I do hope you all had a great family day today giving thanks to God for all we enjoy each day.  I don't know if I will post again until I reach Texas so PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY E-MAILS UNTIL AFTER DECEMBER 10 AS MY MAIL BOX IS LIMITED.  THANKS!  Joy

I'm back

Hi to all,

Finally got back to Dr Phil.  Tried getting here the past two days but couldn't get on for some unknown reason.  Will have to mark a new favorite.  We had a great time in Branson and good traveling to the valley but the weather has been cold the past four days....jacket weather.  Sorry I missed you on the way down, Lois.  We were out late the night before leaving Branson and Archie said to wait until we found out what time we might reach Dennison.  You must have been shopping or whatever when I tried calling.  One of these years we'll make it.  Delores, sorry to hear you have been loaded with problems again but glad to hear your daughter is on the mend again.  Jane, MN has been having that nice cold weather, too.  I think the high here today was around 54....supposed to reach 70 tomorrow.  So nice to catch up on everyone's news!  Joy
