Where can I find the exercises discussed on today's show. And what are the "tubing" Dr. Phil discussed....is it affordable (as opposed to weights), and is it as effective. I need to tone up after losing 58 lbs...I know I need to also do more aerobic exercise as well as tone up from the weight loss. Help! Toni

I found the exercise bands at Walmart. The second set I bought was in with Pilates stuff at Walmart. Most sporting goods stores with a variety of exercise equipment should have them in the $10 range.

Hi! Try a search for "resistance bands." That's how I found mine, and ordered on-line from kmart.com. Pd $25 for several different size bands, a booklet on use, and a carrying case! Now I am inspired to actually USE them! Good luck!

When you purchase the tubing there will be directions to follow. Mostly the exercises consist of resistance training. Upper Body is the most effective way I have found to use them.
Lost 5" Hips and 5" Waist

From a former couch potato: I do about 30 minutes before I get out of bed in the morning. I'm up to 25's, but I started at 5's. It must be working because I've lost 5" waist and 5" hips in the three months on WLC program.
I start with stretch (band around foot--pull with arms)to the left. Then I do a straight leg lift. I do a V-stretch, like to 10:00 and 2:00, then bent-straighten low, and a bent-straighten higher. All with the left leg, then I switch and do same on right. With the arms, one of the best ones I do is stretching, arms up behind my head.
No credentials, just doing what feels good. Used Sobel's "Arthritis: Exercises that Work" to get started.

Hello, I am Jodi and I was on the last 20 pounds segment. The bands I use are called Challenge P.R.O. Tubing, they have four colors, I did receive from the show but you can find on the net too. You should be able to get for about $30. I do a variety of exercises like tricep extension, so you really work the arms. There are pictures to follow. They are great because they can help prevent injury like you could get from weights and they are lightweight. These bands are similar to a Dynaband in Pilates which I see Pilates kits everywhere but these are better because you have variety of levels (also have handles).

Today on the show Dr. Phil said that the exercise program using the bands would be posted on the web site for all of us to access. I can't find any mention of it, has anyone else?

Tubing - where you can find them

Hello, I am Jodi and I was on the last 20 pounds segment. You can find the tubing at any major exercise store. The ones I receied had four different colors - with handles at the ends - and are at four different levels. You can increase the resistance level as you move on. If you see a Pilates kit sometimes, there might be a Dynaband included and that is similar. You can increase the intensity by wrapping around your hand. My arms are firmer and do believe the bands have really helped (the stomach is still there, but the arms are firmer and so is the upper portion). Good Luck.

Hello, this is Jodi. The exercise I do for my stomach is called an abdominal crunch. I do 30 reps every other day. The show did an update. I did lose 9 pounds but my stomach is still there...but the length of the flabbiness is diminishing, so the exercise is definetly helping. Those bands are awesome but mainly helping my arms. I need to do more with the ball but it is ergonomically challenging for me. When they say "walk it out" on the ball, I am a little uncoordinated. Good luck with your exercises (the crunch is where I lift my butt off the ground with my legs criss cross, and not a typical sit up)

Wondering if the woman on the show is still breastfeeding. There are a minority of women who breastfeed that can't lose the weight until after the baby is completely weened. For some reason the body really thinks it needs to store and hold onto that extra fat while breastfeeding. I'm one of the unlucky few! When I had my daughter I struggled to lose the weight and no matter what I did it was still there. As soon as I weened her the weight just disappeared. That's when my Dr. told me I must be one of those women. I now have a 6 month old son and have not lost one lb since he was six weeks old. So hopefully when I ween him in six months or so i'll finially be able to lose the last 20lbs!!!

I am a breastfeeding counselor and didn't know that retaining pregancy weight while breastfeeding isn't common, but is normal. I didn't loose any baby weight after my daughter was 2 weeks old until I weined her at 12 months. After that I lost 40 lbs in 3 months!

Hello, I went straight to the bottle after Parker was only two days old. I have seen women lose a lot of weight while nursing because of the contraction of the uterus. Good luck on your weight loss. Jodi, Denver, CO

Excuses, excuses

I think Janine's excuse about being out of her fat-free, no cookies environment during the three weeks she lived with her parents is just that, an excuse. Instead of lying in bed, porking out on bags of cheese doodles, she could've taken healthy food to her parents house.
When I lived with my parents, it wasn't in one of those fat-free, no-fail environment. They ate fried foods at most meals and kept the house full of chips, ice cream, candy, cookies, pies, and nuts.
I bought myself fat-free and low-fat foods and prepared my own meals. I lost 25 pounds and kept it off for three years.
