Marty, (and family) I have been watching yall since the start and I just want to give you some words of encouragement because I believe that they do help. Keep up the good work. I see how hard you are trying, how hard it must be on you (and your family) to do all this, and I can see that you are making a great effort. Just don't forget about "Marty" in all of this too. Your not the "bad guy" here, i know people must think you are. I am not claiming you completely innocent in all this, but just remember that is does take two ok? I applaud your trying and if I could, would give you a high five.
Keep up the good work Marty !! As we say here in TX, "cowboy up". :0)~~
Sincerely, Jen Cron

Just wanted to say I agree, but I would like to add Erin, too. They have both worked soo hard to get here, I am so excited for them :) Marty and Erin have both been given a rough time (sometimes deserved, sometimes not), but have kept on going again and again. So happy to see them look at each other with love like that! Thank you Robin, for reminding these two how important even the small things are!

I was getting very annoyed because it seemed that Dr. Phil and Erin were putting the blame solely on Marty's shoulders but when I heard Erin take responsibility for her part in running their relationship off in the ditch I felt that they, NOW, can make this work. I am so proud of Erin for opening her eyes and seeing her husband for what he is working toward instead of the Marty that hurt her. Its now time to work for the future instead of living in the past and today it seemed like they were both willing to do that. Congrats to you both. Keep God first and don't let the devil convince you that its not worth it because it is!!!! You are in my prayers!!!!

Yes, I totally agree. I just wish there was a warning before the show began to have a box of kleenex close at hand. I really enjoyed it!

Hi Erin & Marty,
If you are reading this, I just wanted to tell you that I truly admire your courage and strength as well as persistence against all odds to make your marriage work. Doing so has clearly shown your children that relationships are worth the effort. You will see in the years to come that your children and grandson will follow suit. I wish my husband loved me as Marty clearly loves you and his family. My husband chose the easy way out, but Marty's stubborness is working for the family. I wish you and your family the best of love and I am so glad your daughter kept your grandson! I knew from day #1 she would and I am so proud of her as well!

I think Marty and Erin are doing so well! Marty seems like he is letting himself be more real and is more genuinely himself. He seems to be learning that he is likable and can be loved and accepted. Erin looks younger and happier. I am glad Marty is getting involved in the lives of his daughters. Wow! I wish them all the best!

From the start, I don't trust Martin on anything he says on the show. I would bet that when the cameras are finally turned off, they will get a divorce. His body and facial language say things completely different than what comes out of his mouuth and this has been from day one. He can sure cry on cue, can't he?

GOOD JOB, MARTY!!!! you rock!
i felt, from the onset, that you two were going to 'make it'.
everyone makes mistakes, part of the human experience, i guess.
but you two have shown, in every show, that people CAN change.
you may not live 'happily ever after', but i'm confident that you will live happy most of the time.
thanks for sharing your lives with an audience. thank you, thank you.

It is like night and day the difference between "a family divided" family #1 and #2. I think that Marty and Erin are doing so great at working things out! I could truly tell on the show today how much they love eachother. Just the fact that Marty went to all that trouble to do something so special for Erin, shows everyone how in love they truly are. Keep at it guys, there is no doubt in my mind you will make it.

This made me laugh! I never paid any attention to the actual titles. But you are right. I think 'A family divided' should be changed to 'A family sucsessfully progressing' and the 'family in crisis' should be 'A family with no hope'!!! :)

They started out the show saying, basically that they weren't in love anymore. That is SO obviously not true. I saw the look Erin gave Marty right before they went to break after the clip of her talking to Robin. I believe she and I have one thing very much in common: We've both been very hurt in our relationships and that has made us want to not care and try to shut down. Even though our situations are very different, seeing Marty and Erin beginning to come together really brings me hope that the distance between Ryan and I can be closed as well. Although I used to wonder if they could stay together, I am sure after watching today's show that Dr. Phil is soon going to have to call them his "Family United" instead.

The same difference. Both families are soap operas.

I feel this is real life. Where sometimes it works out and some times it doesn't.
They work for a living and don't live in mansions they couldn't possibly pay for.

If there lives seem like soap operas to you then you are lucky to have never had to deal with any of these issues. Unfortunately I believe that families like this are becoming the norm and not the unusual.

I think you are right, although I don't know if becoming is the right word, I grew up with parents a lot like Marty and Erin, although my parents did not end up sticking it out, I think its more common than a lot of people think. I also think there is dysfunction in every single home, and that if you stuck cameras into any person's house, you could find something that needs to be changed or fixed, or something to fault them for. I also think there are a lot of parents out there who have no idea how out of touch they are with their kids, and some don't find out until it's too late.

The definition of family is dysfunctional - that is what my siblings and I always jokingly say. Every family has their problems. Some a little less serious than others but problems none the less .
You are so right about there being a lot of parents being out of touch with their kids. I personally think it is denial on thier part. How many times do you here parents say "No not my son or/No not my daughter".
