I have a suggestion for Stacy. What was pointed out to me once wasif you want to see how much weight you have lost go to the store. Look at a pound of butter, or in your case go look at a 2 10# bags of flour. That is alot.
Stacy you are a beautiful girl. Keep up the GREAT work!!!!

I agree with Kathy. Stacy you are beautiful and it is sad that you can not see that for yourself. Another suggestion not just for the weight but for the problem of looking in the mirror and self talking in a negative way, it is put a list of positives on the mirror to the side and read that list each time you look in the mirror. Hopefully, after a while, you will be able to do it without looking at the list.

I know where Stacey is coming from. It took me a long time to tell myself that I wasn't ugly and that I did look good. I think its the fact that people look at themselves everyday and sometimes get bored with what looks back. I think that when she loses a little bit more weight that she will see that she is, even though she is pretty the way that she is. My best wishes is that she starts seeing that she is beautiful inside and out no matter what some people say. She will turn around, I believe that she will.

This comment is for Stacy. Did you record your measurements before you started? Sometimes the inches tell the real story. You are totally awesome to have been able to accomplish loosing 20 # especially with the negative feelings you are experiencing! Just think how much easier it will be when you turn your negative thoughts to positive ones. Keep up the great job Stacy! You will succeed.

the teens are such an inspiration! I to was told about the butter analogy and it is a fresh new way to look at your weight loss. For every pound you loose you've lost 4 sticks of butter. So for 20 pounds you've lost 80 sticks of butter! Now go look at 80 sticks of butter and that will put things into prospective. Keep up the great work and don't loose heart!

To Capri03 I would like to challenge you to rethink your position. Truth IS NOT realitive. Truth is truth even if you wish not to believe it and you do not decide what is and is not true.

Head2Heart, I think you might have misinterpreted Capri03's quote. I think what he or she is trying to say (correct me if i'm wrong, Capri) is similar to what Dr. Phil always says when he says "There is no reality, only perception". This also relates to "Right Thinking" in the Ultimate Weight Solution. In other words, sometimes we believe something to be "true" about ourselves, such as "I'll always be fat", when in fact this does not have to be a reality or a truth. We need to challenge that so-called truth and realize that it is not *really* a truth, only a perception.
Does that make sense?
Take care,
Sarah :)

sarahjwl, yes it makes sense, however, words are powerful and I believe we need to speak them correctly. Say what we mean. If we continue to say it wrong we will eventual believe it wrong.
Perception is a key in many counseling cases, along with pre-conditioning, performance and pressence (feelings). When we look at the why's and stop focusing on the behaviors we can begin the process of change.

As a perpetually overweight, older adult I'm delighted to see these young people taking the initiative and getting an intelligent, informed foundation for a lifetime of self-control, healthy self esteem and physical well-being.
Everyone advances at their own pace. It's important to not get discouraged by holding your progress up to others'. Enjoy the process, take pride in your positive choices and be aware that the way you talk to yourself determines who you are. Love yourselves. Celebrate the uniqueness of yourselves. Tell yourselves that you're beautiful, happy, healthy, loving expressions of life and it will shine out from you. I hope you each revels in the discovery of what lies beneath the extra weight. And when the publicity is over, and you're on your own, you'll have the rest of your lives to spend with your new best friends - yourselves!
You inspire me . Thank you.

Stacey,
I am a 42 year old mom and housewife. At 15 years old, I was 6 feet tall and chubby. Even as old,(ancient as you would think) I am, I can remember laying on my bed and wanting to die. I thought the way that I looked back then was the way I would look forever. But life has a way of changing each day and changing you. I went on to model some and even placed in a beauty pagent. Please, please ease up on yourself. You are a beautiful young woman and I promise you as someone who has been there...it's only going to get better. Hang in there and don't forget as you make your physical self more beautiful each day, make your inner self just as beautiful...Lots of love and luck to you.

Wow, I'm so excited to see these kids losing weight in a healthy way, as I am also doing the Ultimate Weight Solution at home. I've lost 50 lbs since September but I'm blown away by these kids.
It does concern me a bit that they've lost 80 and 102 lbs so quickly, though. Perhaps it's easier for kids to lose weight? Or perhaps they got started on Dr. Phil's book before they got involved in Jay's book for teens.
In any case, I'm so happy for these kids that they've conquered this disease of choice.

Hi Sarah, This is Andrew's mom, Lisa. Andrew wanted me to clarify to everyone that he actually started his weight loss program last June. He began doing "The Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge" when Dr. Phil's book came out in September and then switched to Jay's book when it came out in December, so he has been doing this for approximately 9 months. He has had a physical recently to make sure that he is healthy, and everything checked out fine. He is doing great! Thanks for being so happy for him and the others. I am so proud of Andrew for his dedication and hard work!
