There are more than 400,000 youth in the foster care system today, and thousands more who have experienced abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, through no fault of their own, children in foster care are much more likely than their peers to face homelessness, incarceration, poverty, or drop out of school. This is unacceptable. We need to develop approaches to ensure that our nation’s vulnerable, yet resilient, youth are provided with the opportunities and support they need to succeed. Together, we pledge to take action.
