          No More Jerks!

          January 05, 2007

One of the hardest resolutions to keep is to change unhealthy relationship patterns. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and before you know it, 20 years have gone by in misery. Tammy draws a line in the sand and resolves to get her marriage right, or get out.

          Obnoxious, Controlling and Jealous

Tammy says she has been living in hell for the past 20 years, and she’s sick and tired of putting up with her angry husband, Reynir. She wants him to stop being a jerk and learn how to be a nice guy.

“I want a new marriage or a divorce.”

          A Sister’s Perspective

“Hot-headed,” “selfish,” “domineering,” “a mean, scary jerk” is how Tammy’s sister, Lori, describes her brother-in-law. Despite Reynir’s objections, she joins the show over the phone and explains why she’s concerned for her sister.

          Why is Reynir so angry?

          “Not Good Enough”

Tammy and Reynir’s 16-year-old son, Tyler, shares how he feels about  his father, and Tammy reveals what has been eating away at her for 20 years.

What has Tammy been afraid to tell Reynir?

          The Bottom Line

Dr. Phil tells the couple exactly what they need to do if their marriage doesn’t change in 90 days’ time. Can they turn their marriage around? Should Reynir resolve to be a nicer guy, or is it up to Tammy to change?

“You need to get a divorce.”
