Six opinionated people with extreme points of view enter The Dr. Phil House to test their beliefs as they all live under the same roof. Shirley admits to being a man-hater and calls men idiots and creeps who only think from below the waist. Dick is a chauvinist who says women are whores, and all they are good for is having kids. Kimberly is morally righteous and says if you don’t follow the word of the Bible, you’re going to hell! Jason is anti-society and has a laundry list of judgments, including the belief that 90 percent of people are idiots and mindless sheep. Erin admits to being a racist ... against her own race, and, Crystal judges people all day long and says pretty people should only hang out with other pretty people. When Dr. Phil — and these roommates — drill down on their beliefs, will they address what’s really at the core of their judging, or will they refuse to accept the truth and shut the door behind them?
Part one summary:
Dr. Phil welcomes the six guests to the house and gives them their first assignment: to sit in the hot seat and explain to their roommates why their beliefs are right. Next, Dr. Phil makes a house call. He meets with the group and confronts them about what’s at the core of their issues. Then, Shirley and Dick go out for a meal. Their task is to point out people on the street who would be a good romantic prospect for the other. And, Kimberly and Jason visit a tattoo parlor and a church. Crystal is challenged to remove her makeup and dresses down before walking through Hollywood with a woman who’s dressed up. Later in the day she speaks on the phone with her boyfriend and threatens to leave the house. Go inside the house.
Part two summary:
Dr. Phil wakes the housemates up at 5:30 a.m. via a video message informing them that they are headed for a day of adventure on the high seas. During their car ride to the marina, the housemates vent their frustrations with what they say is Kimberly’s non-stop complaining. When they arrive and find out they must work together to sail a boat, Erin says she won’t be joining them, because she can’t swim and fears drowning. Kim refuses to board because she says her five housemates don’t like her, and she doesn’t like being attacked. Crystal persuades Erin to join them on the boat, and the others convince Kim that they don’t hate her, and she should come along. But when they return to the house, the venting about Kim continues. The housemates don’t believe she is making an attempt to change, and say all she does is bitch. Kim can’t understand why they don’t like her. Then, Crystal receives a phone call from her boyfriend with news that her son has fallen down, hurt his leg and is now in the hospital, but she comes to find out that her boyfriend made up the story and asked her son to lie. Visibly angered, Crystal threatens to leave the house so she can restore order in her family life. Jason and Dick convince Crystal to remain in the house and continue getting the help she needs to change. Next, Erin receives a surprise visit from B., a guest on the House of Hatred. B. confronts Erin about her racism toward her own race. They meet up with Judge Lynn Toler, host of Divorce Court and Decision House, to continue Erin’s education on great black people from history. After her wake-up call, Erin meets with Dr. Phil and has another unexpected visitor: her husband. And, the housemates participate in an exercise where they reveal to the others what’s not going well in their life. Go inside the house.
