After three marriages, David has five daughters and two stepsons. He introduces three of his daughters, Sara, Erin and Allison, his sister, Marylou, and his girlfriend, Yolanda.
David says there is a special story behind Allison. “I had a child when I was 20, but we gave the baby up for adoption,” he says. That baby was Allison. When David met Allison for the first time, he was with hockey star Wayne Gretzky. It turns out Allison and her husband were huge hockey fans.
Allison says, “And it’s funny because in the book, David says, ‘I don’t know who Allison was happier to meet, her dad or Wayne Gretzky,’ and I have to say it is you.”
“Oh, good,” David says, laughing.
“You have a sister, Jaymes,” Dr. Phil says to David. “And she and Clay Aiken had a baby together named Parker.”

“Isn’t that great? They took that picture yesterday, just for this show, and you know, Jaymes was married for 20-odd years and never had any children, always felt that she wanted to, and they found a beautiful way to be a family. And it’s no secret what’s going on with the three of them, but they’re going to be great parents together, and it’s a great thing,” David says.
